I took my 2-year-old to Build-A-Bear to celebrate his birthday (which was just 2 weeks ago), and it turned into a really disappointing experience. He was so excited to pick out a bear, do the heart ceremony, and choose outfits, those little moments mean everything at that age. But when we got there, we were told they couldn't honor the birthday pricing because it's now a new month (even though we're literally only a couple days into April). There was no flexibility or effort to make an exception, even seeing how excited he was. We were fully planning to buy outfits and extras, but instead we were told we'd have to pay full price for everything. The interaction felt cold and dismissive, and we ended up leaving with both of my kids upset. It was especially disappointing because we had a great experience for my other son's birthday earlier this year. This time felt completely different like there was no interest in making it special for the kids. I understand policies exist, but a little kindness and flexibility can go a long way especially in a place that's supposed to create magical moments for children. Do better read more

Great and fun experience for a special occasion. The workers are awesome and very friendly. I had told my boyfriend I always wanted to come here as a kid and never did so he brought me for my birthday! This location was nice and clean. We also went during a weekday so we were the only people at the store at the time which was great. They have a ton of cute options for the stuffed toys you can pick. You get to pick the softness and can include extras like a heart and a nice smell they also have clothing options so you can customize your toy. It was super cute. Very expensive especially the more you customize things but I think it's worth doing at least once especially if you have small children. They also give you a cute box to take your toy home. I believe they have specials for birthdays. I think it's a great and fun experience for a small child or kid to do at least once! read more

This was such a fun outing and haven't been in quite some time. Our two youngest Granddaughters loved it and it was perfect for their ages 5 and 1. A great way to do something special for Christmas and something we could do together. Still great costumer service and attentiveness to the kids. Love when they have them hold the heart and make wishes and rub it on their arms for warm hugs and help them place it deep inside, so special. i haven't been to build-a-bear in quite a while (since i was a kid actually) but i still got the same nostalgic and comfy feeling as i stepped inside. despite it being a sunday during summer break, it wasn't super crowded inside which was nice. the service here was above and beyond when it came to friendliness! the workers here were so nice and willing to assist my family and i. there's a pretty neat selection here, from the standard mainstay build-a-bears to sanrio-themed ones (my achilles heel!). there's also mini plushies as well! today there was a 2 for $45 deal on build-a-bears which was an unbelievably great deal. overall, my family and i's experience here was wonderful and i hope to come here again sometime in the future! read more

We went into the store on 12/1 (one day after his birthday) around 4 pm. We asked the do his birthday bear and the girl was happy to help us. Then another girl jumped in and asked when his birthday was. I told them it was yesterday (November) and she snapped and said " we can't honor November birthdays because it's December 1st". I was shocked at how quickly she wanted to turn down my son's birthday bear because we were one day later. My friends and I went in today for my bachelorette as a fun activity. We made an appointment on the website, which was confusing and didn't offer many options besides birthday party. However, made a group reservation to not slow down the store. All the workers were super nice and helpful. However, Jill, I believe she may be the manager, was very passive aggressive and slightly rude to us. She made multiple comments about how we "poorly" planned the party because we didn't enter names and ages ahead of time on the website...as if we couldn't just give that info when we arrived. And asked "who planned this party?" Right to my maid of honor, who in fact planned the party, which was an unnecessary comment. We originally picked the higher package for $65 a person which included a few things we decided we didn't want, like a scent in the bear, and the mascot comes out for pictures. We decided to go down to the $45 each option, and she repeated about a million times that we would get, like we didn't hear her the first few times. And our party assistant let us know before we started, kindly, what was included for us. Jill however, repeatedly said what we would and wouldn't get now that we went down to the lower price, as if she was trying to make us feel bad, and really pushing an up sell we didn't want. We arrived 20 minutes early, and Jill asked us to go shop around and come back. We did so, but the manner in which she asked was rude. All my girls were in a cow theme for their outfits, and I was in all white, as I'm the bride. She rudely asked why I wasn't wearing cow print like everyone else. She also took ages to check us out at the end, and apply our $50 gift card towards the total. She repeatedly mentioned that we were there and done so quick and that we went so fast... I didn't realize being efficient and leaving was a problem. I understand that a group of adults isn't the normal group to come in, but our money is JUST as good as any child's mother's money. I think the rest of the team is fantastic, and that lady really brings down the store experience. We were not treated well, being the big group in the store and spending the most money, and yet everyone else spending less was treated so kindly. read more

We went to this location on 5/21/22 around 3:30. Super disappointed with this location. No one offered to help or welcomed us. Thankfully some guests we were with did so they guided us first timers who was building our baby's first bear. When we got to the birth certificate area the staff was sitting on two of the stations as they talked to other coworkers so there was a little wait for the one that was open. I thought since they were huddled they were having a little team meeting but when we walked by we just overheard them talking about other coworkers. We also couldn't find our bear on the register thing so we didn't make one because when we did interrupt for help staff wasn't the kindest. This is an awesome Build a Bear! I have gone to Build a Bear for years! I go for family, dates, kids and mire. Meaning I've done tons and tons of purchases for them. Every time I come in the staff is amazing. Some people may think it's weird to purchase a stuffed animal but I don't! I don't have any Build a Bears myself but as a die hard bears fan and a die hard sports fan Elizabeth showed me the items online that I could purchase. I'm moving to a new apartment so I'm thinking they would look good with my collectibles! Then I met Heather. She was in great spirits and told me about the Pokémon releases and then told me about the the upcoming Halloween releases. I'm going to surprise some Family with those releases too! Lol The store was very clean with a lot of great social distancing, by the stuffing area for the bears it was roped off. The girls did an amazing job helping out with every question that I had too! They were so kind, funny, sweet, and overall amazing customer service. It's been a while since I've been to a Build a Bear that had such amazing customer service. No offense to the others but these girls were on their game! I will be coming back for just that reason. I'm the type that enjoys customer service and that's why I am a regular at certain places as a collector. We had plans for our daughter's 9th birthday party at home to include swimming in the pool. Since we moved to Arizona from Ohio we falsely assumed the pool would still be warm. Wrong! Anyhow we've been to the Build A Bear Workshop in Mentor and our daughter was excited to go back and so the day before her party we decided to take the girls here. We. Allen and confirmed that no reservation is necessary. It was a rare slow Saturday around 5:00 and all the ladies there were extremely helpful and so good at making Grace's birthday very very special. Super fun spot of your doing a private kid's party, some fun with your kid (niece, nephew, grandkid, etc) or even a date night event. Hey don't knock it, fellas, perfect gift for your lady for any special occasion and throw in your own personalized message with your voice!!! :-) We had a party group of over 20 kids and gotta give credit to the staff who some how managed to coral all them through the stations in an organized manner. The interaction was cool to watch for the younger kids as they talked to them about the importance of the being added prior to stuffing. Tons of choices as far as decorating a bear. Star Wars themes caught my eye but lots of other themes that I'm sure make the choices equally as hard. Make sure u look for the specials on certain bears that are phased out or just go with your gut! It was very refreshing to come to a Build-A-Bear Workshop and not have to wait in a long line or wait for a long time for someone to stuff our bears. The team members that helped us were quick and very nice when helping my girls with their bears. This is a great spot for lovers of stuffed animals to venture to. They have different bears to choose from and usually have popular choices like currently they have Aladdin and Jasmine bears. There are only so many indoor activities to do with young children during our ridiculously hot summer months... so when my 3 year old nephew came to town, I decided a fun activity and belated birthday present for him, would be to take my kids along with him to the "Build-A-Bear Workshop." I didn't have expectations; I had just heard about this place and walked by it at the mall. I didn't realize it's so much more than "building a bear." There are tons of other animal options. As a matter of fact, we walked out of there with a Hulk Bear, a Police Man Bunny, and an adorable sweet kitten! The kids enjoyed, although I think they were a tad bit on the young side to really appreciate all of the activities involved in building their animals, but it did eat up a good hour of the morning and it wasn't as pricey as I anticipated either. This isn't an activity to do all of the time as it can get rather expensive, but it's great for a special celebration with a young child or several of them! They were sold out of the item we needed (although I also heard it was discontinued so it's possible that it's sold out everywhere). However, the staff was nice about it. Build-a-Bear workshop is such a cute place for kids...and adults! It's a fun activity especially for little ones because they get to be a big part in putting together the bear of their choice. They get to choose pretty much everything about the bear, and even whether it's a bear or not. They have other animals the kids can choose, and even those Shrek babies now too. Kids choose the clothing they want their bear to wear, they get some stuffing and they're good to go! I made the mistake of taking this little girl I was babysitting here one day (I hope her mom doesn't read this) and it was one of the most embarassing moments ever. She had this really weird specific idea of what she wanted her bear to wear, and of course, they didn't have that outfit. She wanted a green princess dress with pink bows and when she found out that they didn't have it, she threw the bear and it hit one of the employees. Then she threw herself on the ground and started screaming "I hate you," to no one in particular. Then everyone looked at me, and I had no idea what to do. I tried to get her up off the ground, but that made her scream louder. Then she started screaming that I was hurting her. It truly was Build-a-bear gone wrong. I finally got her out of the store, but not before every single customer, including a few employees gave me and the little girl I was babysitting dirty looks. Staff always greets us while walking in! Everyone every time we've ever been has always been upbeat, super friendly, loves kids, and has excellent customer service for the child and adult. Been going here for years! Don't forget to sign up for emails and register your animals birthday. We get emails when our animals anniversary birthday is and often get free accessory coupons. Print all coupons before arrival from your email. Also some coupons from websites do not work in store either. We like to buy gift cards from Costco when they have them. Costco usually sells $50 for only $40 and each gift card is worth $25, which is also great for birthday presents to a child as well. $25 in there gives you many excellent options for an animal. These animals come micro chipped. Your UPC is in the animal, so if you ever find a build a bear loved one you can take it to the store and find its Mommy or Daddy. If stitching comes apart they will gladly stitch the hole back up and make sure your animal isn't scared. Super cute! read more

Terrible execution on your build a bear age promotion. Arrived 40 minutes before the store was scheduled to open and the line was 250+ and then the company shuts down the promotion. If you are going to make an offer, you need to organize, staff and supply accordingly. My 4 year old took the extra mile in cleaning her room so I wanted to do something special. She had never gotten to build a bear so I decided that would be the perfect reward. This girl totally helped me build my bear and when they didn't have an accessory they had it held at the Chandler Mall location in Chandler, AZ. You need to be prepared to spend some money here. We got a gift certificate at Costco so it made it 30% cheaper, score. My kids loved choosing their new friend. My little girl got a little pony, they get to fill it, place a little heart inside, then after they are finished they take them to the "bath" area, where they brush their new friends. It was so funny to see how serious my little girl was with her grooming skills. Then they get to choose outfits for the plush toys, this is the part you should be afraid of, they can go crazy. Thank goodness my kids were pretty tamed. They got some boots and a cape, and my little girl got a "convertible bed" for her pony. All in all the experience is fun. Today was our first time going to build a bear. I didn't exactly know what to expect except that my son had been talking about build a bear for quite some time so we decided to go. When we got there there were at least 15 different beat options to choose from. Once you're done picking the the bear that you want you take him/her to the stuffing station. At the stuffing station there was another staff member who asked my son if he would like to put a heart inside his puppy, and we opted to do so. The staff member then told my son to follow her instructions. She said: squeeze the heart a few times because it's been sleeping for a while, then put the heart I your head so Marshall can be smart like you, then put it on your back so he'll always have your back, then out it on your side so he'll never leave your side, then put it on your arms so he'll have lots of strength and finally put it on your toes so he can be totally awesome. Seeing as how it was our first time there one of the staff members walked us through the whole process she was so nice and caring. She also helped my son and I find different options for his puppy Marshall. Once we were done we were given the option to pick an outfit, my son picked the fireman one. And finally after all that we made the birth certificate. My son absolutely loves the experience and I loved the service and staff. Can't wait to return! read more
