Today, my SIL left on her honeymoon to San Antonio without the longhorn her and her husband had built specifically for this trip. She isn't phased by much but she was truly upset at the fact that it had gotten lost in the bustle of the wedding. We called this location in desperation. Over the phone we described the longhorn to an angel named makenzie who immediately dropped what she was doing and built a replacement longhorn, outfit and everything, to our specifications. She not only built the longhorn for us but she made sure it got to the hotel as a surprise for our SIL to walk in to. We will forever be grateful to her and the concierge Meagan from the Hotel Contessa for ensuring the happiness of our newlyweds. We will never be able to thank them enough. read more

Extremely disappointing experience with my 3 grands (ages 5, 7, and 9). While the store had 4 employees (that I saw on duty), we were the only shoppers in the store. They were helpful with the only thing they had to help with -- bringing life to my grandchildren's chosen friend. The employees were more interested in stocking shelves, rather than help select a furry friend, dress the friend, or even with the birth certificates. It wasn't until we were at the check-out (had difficulty getting someone to help with that!) that we finally got an interested employee in helping make their first BAB experience fun and memorable. Come on BAB staff -- you charge a lot for fun....please help make that fun! read more

Oooh my goodness the prices are expensive. I have never paid for one of these, so when I took my 7 year old to get her first Build-A-Bear I was shook! $16 for the bears dress??? you're killing me. By the end of the transaction I coughed up $60 for a bear named Lilly. Yes, my daughter is happy with her new stuffed animal. As far as the customer service goes, it wasn't impressive. I felt like with as much as they were charging, they could have tried to make the experience a happy one. But no, just 2 women in the store who looked very bored while making my daughters bear. I probably won't come back unless my kid begs me to. And even then, I can probably afford 1 bear per year anyway. read more

We drove a long way for my son's birthday and it was 30 minutes before closing and the employee Taryn along with a couple others were pretty rude because they had closed early and they were not letting people in! Great place to build your own bear; went here for Mother's Day weekend to build a bear for our newest family member. Not only did they have so many to choose from but also everything was so cute!!!!! Every employee was so helpful and super polite, I will definitely be back. Prices do very from $20-$100 but just depends on what you get to what you put in your new friend, go check it out yourself you will have so much fun pulse you don't have to be a kids to build-a-bear. read more

Would have been 5 star but one it was a Friday and a special on build a bears and they had one girl running the machine. My grandbaby and i waited from 4:10pm to 5:17pm. That was just to get it stuffed we still had to wait to pay luckly the girl asked another cashier to check us out because my 4 year old needed to go potty and came to find out they have NO RESTROOM for the children. Do you know how hard it is to tell a 4 year old to hold it. Then we still had to run around a few stores find an escalator to go up run down the hall find the restroom. I felt real bad telling my 4 year old grandbaby to hold it and run. I am sure they could have better management when they have this specials and I DON'T UNDERSTAND WHY NO CHILDREN RESTROOM. Really people are dropping more than $100 for a bear at least accommodate the children by having a restroom or have more staff to control the floor so kids don't have to wait to go else where to the restroom. One of coolest stores for kids in North Star Mall is Build-A-Bear Workshop. Build-A-Bear always makes my boys happy, and makes them kids again. To see their own stuffed animals specially made for them excites them. I have bought about 4 different stuffed toys from Build-A-Bear over the past years. When I first took my kids to Build-A-Bear I remember spending well over $50 for two bears one with clothes one without. I remember the lower priced stuffed animals really look like lower priced, cheap, sad stuffed animals. Forward some years to last week; I was glad to see the lower priced stuffed animals looking like something my boys may want. As a matter of fact, that's exactly what my boys picked by themselves two stuffed dogs going for $12 each. I was glad to see Build-A-Bear offered a good product for that price. In addition to the price; all stuffed animals were hypoallergenic. But, on the bad side Build-A-Bear can still get really expensive, and become a parents nightmare. I would suggest never go during peak shopping seasons, cause forget it you will end up paying well over what you wanted to spend with all the clothes, and accessories they have. Showed up New Years Eve to get my daughter a Birthday Bear and I must have been the only person who didn't know the mall closed early. Well my 7yo and I knocked on the door at 6:10 and would you know it, they let us in! Debra not only let us buy the bear, she went all out in the experience!! Picking scents, finding the perfect heart beat, and recording happy birthday for the bear to sing. Debra stuffed that bear full of love and fluff. She never rushed, constantly engaged, and made my daughter feel totally special! I am so grateful for Debra and this Build A Bear!! read more

The staff at the North Star location is always friendly. My daughter's GS troop had a party there and it was well-organized. The fellow who ran the party, as well as the shop manager, were helpful and enthusiastic. This shop is kept clean and well stocked. Although BABW can get pricey after you factor in the costs of outfits and accessories, the bears hold up well and the company sends several coupons during the year. read more

My boyfriend and I were getting his niece a bear for her birthday! The actual animal is priced decently. Majority of the animals range from $16-$25. What makes Build a Bear pricey are all of the neat accessories. They have accessories like shoes, bows, tutu, and little outfits. Even the outfits are themed! They have out fits for careers (military, police officers, doctors, ect), Frozen themed, sports themed, birthday themed, and so much more! The experience makes the price worth it though!!! We had Cheyanne help make our bear. Even though we were two grown adults with no children with us at the store, she made our experience so sweet and memorable. She suggested her favorite scent and asked if our bear was firm enough. My favorite part was that she asked both me and my boyfriend to grab a little heart and both make a birthday wish for his niece. Once we were done with our "birthday wish" she put both hearts in the bear and sewed the bear right up! She sent us to get a birth certificate for the bear. Her being so sweet makes me feel comfortable bringing my boyfriends niece here, knowing she will be treated kindly. This part will was also worth the money. By having a birth certificate , if the bear "runs away from home" , just bring your certificate back to the store and more than likely your "run away bear" will be back at the store "waiting" for you. Which I thought was great and a great way to present it in front of children--- if you catch what I'm saying. Over all, we spent $50.00 on the bear, tutu shirt, shoes, a birthday cupcake, and birth certificate. Personally I think it was a great deal for a birthday gift. I hope we can make it a tradition and bring my boyfriends niece and her bear back next year to pick a new outfit or friend to add to her new collection! read more

We had a good time here. The staff was very friendly and fun, and made the experience enjoyable for my daughter. The prices are outrageous considering its all stuff made by Chinese slave laborers but I guess you're really paying for the experience...and the girl who stuffs the bear for you. They should just import a Chinese girl and pay her $12 a month or whatever they earn in their homeland to cut down on the cost. No seriously, this is 'murica baby land of free and home of the save...on the backs of third world factory workers. I bought my 3 yr old her first build a bear in feb. She choose not to get an outfit to my disappointment. I figured she wasn't ready for that type of toy. At the end of march her Grampa passed away and while she wasn't aware of exactly what happened she did sense all the saddness in our home & famiy. That's when I decided to take her back to BABW at NorthStar Mall so that we could do something cheerful together. he picked out Alvin from the Chipmunks. I was told that if I also bought Britney of the Chipettes I could get a nice discount. I then remembered a couple of coupons i had on my phone.Since they came dressesd already I only spent around $25. Seperately they were $23 each. We returned the next fri. for the Minnie Mouse inspired bear, which my daughter loves. I used a $10 off $40 coupon and only paid $30 + tax for a $23 bear a outfit and accessories! If you take advantage of any coupons sent to you can get some really great deals. I have never had problems with any employees accepting my coupons. In june alone we purchased 5 furry friends! My daughter loves them and calls them her babies, I'm the one who loves to dress them. The staff is always helpful and attentive. A few of them remember us and have always made my Baby Girl feel at ease and always kind and patient and they always reassure me that other adults love this store as much as the kids do so I don't feel embarressed while going ga ga over the newest outfits. My daughter and I are anxiously awaiting the arrival of Sid & Scrat from Ice Age. We will be at BAB bright and early next week. Over-all our experiences here have been great so much so that my daughter will be having a BAB birthday party for her 4th b-day later this year. I can't wait! I am a little concerned with the amount of room we will have, it is a fairly small store, we will have 10 kids, average age of 6/7. For this reason only I'm considering booking the party at La Cantera. But make no misyake we love the BABW at North Star Mall! read more
