The only reason I stopped by was because it was National Teddy Bear Day at Build a Bear in Lakeside Mall. Staffs were friendly and helpful but the set up for the lines to get your bear stuffed was not organized. They started out with just one stuffer and people just cut the lines to get theirs first and disregard anyone who was trying to form a line. About half an hour later another bear stuffer appears but she start taking people at the end of the lines. I'm surprised no one complain about that. read more

If you're a parent, grandparent, aunt or uncle you will no doubt find yourself here at some point. You may think that's a bad thing but it's not really. Build A Bear is geared towards children and isn't cheap for sure but it's fun and kids really love it. There's something magical about picking your bear of choice and bringing it home. You find your perfect bear. You get to name it, hug it's heart so hard and take it away in its own little condo. :) My little ones haven't let go of their new best friends yet. I like it here as much as my kids do and if I were a little more rich I'd be here more often. I love that my little girl can get an Elsa bear and my little boy can get a Darth bear here. Getting to the mall around 10, we were very disappointed to see the store not open. So walking around and probably sitting in front of the store for an hour. They finally open, so immediately went to make my stuff animal. Ever since I heard the animal crossing new horizons and build-a-bear collaboration. I've wanted my own Tom Nook Plushie, so today it finally happen. I went home with a Tom Nook, he's super cute. Got the voice thingy, it comes with five voices on Tom Nook- laughing, surprised, two dialogues and my all time favorite his laugh!! I really adore this stuff animal and can't wait to welcome him to my stuff animal collection. Thank you to the worker who fluffed him just right and did a fantastic job on him. read more

Such a cute spot to throw a party. We have shopped here before and bought a pup but was recently invited to a first birthday. I was pleasantly surprised at the timeliness and professionalism of the BAB staff. The party was a good timeframe and the kids enjoyed taking home a bear that they named and stuffed. I've been going here for a while now, however I've had a few bad experiences with the staff. I went in one day to get a bear unstuffed and restuffed, and one of the staff workers were so kind, the other rolled her eyes and quietly said to herself "i guess this is my time to go to the back then". my friend was with me and overheard this same girl saying to herself "i can't believe we do this for adults". This was the night of November 17 around 7. honestly very rude and not what is ever expected. watch out of your going here without a child, you may be judged. read more

I've always adored Build a Bear, but this experience was top notch. Hubby, baby girl, and I was going to buy my neice a stuffed animal since she loves them. Since the store was running a promotion, I decided to get baby girl and niece, My Little Pony unicorns. We all LOVE My Little Pony, so this was a plus. In addition to buying 3 unicorns, we purchased a dinosaur, and 2 Paw Patrol dog. Christmas shopping is done, and we ended up with discounted gift cards. Another awesome promotion deal! Yes, the deals were great, but the superstars were the associates- Fir, Trilane, and Brie. They were just super fun and helpful. They went above and beyond to ensure that my niece and nephews had the perfect stuffed animals. I felt like I was hanging out with family and friends. Every store should have assopiates lime these three. They made Christmas shopping fun! read more

Build A Bear - 1 Me - $$$$$$$$$$$ Build A Bear is exactly what the name implies. Your kids,or you if you're a weirdo, go in and pick the shell of a stuffed animal, get it filled, register it and buy clothing for said animal. This entire process should be quick and easy, but the BAB folks are experts at getting your money. My kids are pretty adept at picking out a bear in a brief amount of time. They will sometimes try and convince me they need two, but I stand firm. It's when they start wanting outfits that the process drags on and in order to leave I start making it rain in the direction of the bear backpack wearing employees. The clothes is where they get you. I am ok paying whatever it costs for a custom bear, but the outfits are ridiculous. They're are so many any the employees really are good at convincing kids they must have multiple outfits. My advice is skip that section entirely. This BAB location is pretty standard as the chain goes. There is usually one employee doing the stuffing, several roaming and one on the register. The delays will be the stuffing and the paying. On my most recent trip my kids were pretty good at getting just one bear and one outfit. They were so thrilled that they forgot all the other crap I made them do that day. If you've got kids, take them here. Just bring cash and lots of it. read more

I am 26yrs old and I LOVE build-a-bear workshop! I was actually so afraid that there wouldn't be one near Nola that I didn't check before moving here. Luckily, the Lakeside Mall in Metairie has a build-a-bear workshop to make me and 5 year olds happy. The concept of building your own little stuffed animal friend is marvelous. You chose from the many options of creature. I particularly like that they have different price ranges. Also, the workshop (as us cool kids call it) features different famous characters: for instance they just had a Hello Kitty, now they have Keropi, next they'll have who know what. So, you chose your 'bear.' I have made a bunny, dog, monkey, and other creatures but never a bear (maybe soon!). Then you chose a heart. Then you chose a noise, if you so wish, or you can put your own voice message inside. Then you stuff it!! Then, you dress it. You can have your stuffy dress anyway you want- be a member or cheerleader of your favorite sports team, put on little shoes, a hat, there are so many options. read more

If only I could give have a star; my daughters and I went here...how foolish of me...this was the worst trip EVER! It started off great, we were greeted by this nice young lady named Amy ; she was super nice and very energetic, while everyone else looked dead inside. My daughters did the 2 for $35 deal, Amy was looking for a bear for us and this elderly lady, Patsy or Patty (lol, I can't seem to remember that one) was flagging Amy over to tell her to go to another family-- that was so rude. Amy explained to us the process and that it was only for the bears. She showed us the sound board, that was really cool. But we didn't want our bears to talk and the elderly lady began to harass us into getting a sound, literally talked to my 2 year old daughter without acknowledging my existence, like she was going to pay...Might I add Patty and a heavy set girl were just standing around while Amy was working hard stuffing, as a lined began to form. NEVER AGAIN!! They have put slavery back on the map and aren't nice people. read more

I visited the store today with my 12yr old autistic son and had such a great experience. He had a small toy possum in his pocket that he realized he had dropped somewhere. The worker (sorry can't remember name) mobilized the possum search and it was quickly found. She saved us a freak out and was so nice about the inconvenience. Great store!! read more

I brought my 2.5 year old daughter to build-a-bear yesterday because her pacifier broke. I told her we didn't have anymore pacifiers and rather than say goodbye, we would put it inside of a special bear of her choice. This is the first time she'd ever been to build-a- bear. The sales associate, Trey, was incredibly animated and skilled at making this experience extra special. I could really tell that he loved his job. Last night my daughter slept with her bear with zero complaints about her paci. I can't express my gratitude enough! read more

The old sales lady told me buy two for $35. One is for $25. I asked the lady that was stuffing the Bears, is it any she asked the older lady. She specifically said they are all 2 for $35 any mixtures you like. After all was done the 2 my total was $70+ with two scents,1 accessory, and a bag of candy. I said isn't it 2 for $35? The old lady says no rudely that only certain ones are. When we specifically showed her the ones we were getting and asked if it was 2 for $35 and she told us yes. Such a scam, my first and last time at this location! At least I have a happy kid now. read more

I had booked a bday party here for my daughter, so wanted to check it out beforehand. I'm so glad I did because it was such a letdown. I would have been so sad I spent that much money and was disappointed. So, for starters, there were not enough employees working. I waited 30 minutes for the lady to check out two people. That actually is probably just an incompetent employee. The person in front of me actually said her daughter had already got bored and left because it took so long. The cashier was answering the phone when there were people standing in line in front of her. It was basic lack of prioritizing. Then, once we FINALLY made it to the register, we were told VERY rudely that the type of Bear we chose was not able to be used for that sort of coupon (like we should KNOW this). This place was a nightmare. Today, one of the things I'm thankful for is that we left that bear at the store (because my daughter could care less, the experience to her was not special or personalized at all) and that I'm canceling the party I booked for my daughter. read more
