ZukaBaby - Baby Gear & Furniture Near Me - Metairie, Louisiana

I went to visit today and I was super excited to see a local baby shop with strollers and car seat since I will be a first time mom in a few months. The store carries a lot of Popular Nuna products which is great because that is the brand that I have been looking at based on reviews online. I love the simple layout of the store which is helpful since so many baby stores are clustered with so many overwhelming products. I just wish the sales person or whomever was working the store was more friendly and helpful. Right when we walked in, we felt unwelcomed. The staff member was helping another person at the time which is understandable, but she walked right past us like we were invisible. No eye contact, no greeting, nor offer of assistance, which was strange considering she greeted the people before us and warmly welcomed the couple after us. We had a conclusion of why we were treated so coldly, but I'd rather not get into it and make such a bold assumption. It is a shame though because the store was so cool and had a lot of unique baby items. It was definitely a disappointing shopping experience especially when you try to find and support local businesses around the area. read more

My niece lives in Germany and her husband is a Defense Department employee there. I wanted to send them something for their new baby from Zuka Baby, which was linked in their babylist.com registry. Zuka Baby was VERY UNCOOPERATIVE about shipping to an APO AE box. (APO AE stands for Army Post Office, Armed Forces Europe). I tried explaining to them that it's a Post Office box for the military and DOD civilians in Europe and the USPS delivers there ALL THE TIME, but they wouldn't budge. I'm only giving them 1 star because their merchandise is cute. This is poor customer service and not a way to treat people who are serving our country overseas. read more

We headed to ZukaBaby for a specific car seat and stroller. I think it's Nuna. ZukaBaby carried them. Shari V had done all the homework and we knew exactly what we wanted down to the color...caviar for this interested. I later learned caviar was a fancy way to say black. What I was so impressed by was the service. They two women working walked that thin line between helpful and giving you space to explore. We knew what we wanted and the sales person could have easily said, here it is. Thanks for the money. But instead, she walked us through the features. They told us some tips about the car seat. She encouraged me to push the stroller around a bit. I don't enjoy shopping for anything really but this was nice. The store was clean, organized and had parking. The ZukaBaby team was professional and helpful. I would definitely use these guys again. read more

I've been meaning to stop by Zukababy since before Matthew was born, but I'm sure y'all know how that goes! I eventually made it over, right before Christmas and Matthew's first birthday and I wish I would have stopped in sooner. This is such an adorable baby boutique! They carry high quality and reptuable mid-range to high-end brands that are more difficult to find in your standard big box store like Target or Walmart, and lots of unique items that any NOLA native parent would love. I found the blocks I intended to purchase pretty quickly, but I spent quite a while just looking around- they have such a great selection of eco-friendly baby toys, organic clothing, NOLA-approved baby books (like The Run Away Beignet and Chomp goes the Alligator), etc. I ended up finding some great stocking stuffers like a silicone toothbrush and a really cute alligator that jingles when shaken. I love that they have a rewards program, which is a huge perk for frequent shoppers, as well as a birthday club. I would highly recommend visiting Zukababy for all of the little ones in your life! read more

I love shopping local and try to ever chance that I get. I am not a mom but I am an aunt and when I discovered Zukababy while googling where I could find local NOLA theme gifts for my niece. I was blown away from the variety that they had in store. It was hard for me to choose which outfit to buy since they were all so cute! Came here because they had a yelp deal. They definitely have all the gadgets and gizmos if you are preparing to welcome a baby to your life! This is not a clothing store, although they do have a few onesies and pajamas. It's mostly baby items, strollers, carriers, toys etc. It's a very small store but they certainly use every inch of square footage they have! The staff is very friendly and helpful which is great since if you are new to the baby game you will have lots of product questions! They also have a good selection of NOLA themed items which make great gifts. read more

Zukababy is by far one of my favorite baby establishments. The quality of their clothing and toys is stellar. The staff are knowledgeable and willing to help out. Time and again have found ZukaBaby to have just the right gear for my one-year old. A really knowledgeable and friendly staff (everyone I've talked who works there has kids themselves). The Doona carseat/stroller is the #1 lifesaver in our family and ZukaBaby helped us pick it out. Really great place to get local and New Orleans-themed gifts as well (the City Park Storyland blanket is a particular favorite). read more

I hardly ever shop at boutiques because they are so expensive, but I happened to be in the area killing time and I walked in here (20 months pregnant holding the hand of my 20 month old). First of all, the staff here is so friendly and KNOWLEDGEABLE! It is a thousand times better than trying to talk to someone at Buy Buy Baby or Babies R Us!!! I wish I would have come here during my first pregnancy rather than spending hours and hours reading "expert" and consumer reviews of baby items online. You can actually trust the staff to be honest with you. While I was in, I saw another customer registering--genius! In addition to selling merchandise, they also offer courses in baby wearing, cloth diapering, breastfeeding, etc. They even offer a "Grandparents" class to teach/ remind/ update our parents' generation or any other carers about modern best practices for baby safety. I am not sure, but I would bet that these courses explain why the staff is so knowledgable. With respect to prices, I feel like I got some great deals. Full disclosure: I went in during their New Years' special (16% off everything). Additionally, some of the items I got were already 50% off. That said, even the full price items that I saw were at least competitive with Amazon if you consider that you get to touch and feel them (or try them on yourself or your kid) and own them immediately. read more

I WISH I would have known about Zukababy sooner! My 7 month old(third child) is teething. I was tired of giving him medication for pain, so I talked to my friend about the Amber Teething necklace I remembered her daughter wearing. "I got it from Zukababy", she said. I could kick her for not sharing this little gem sooner! Not only was the store awesome....Whitney gave me some of the BEST customer service I've ever received in my life. We talked about cloth diapering, baby wearing...I think I was in here for almost 2 hours. The best part about Whitney's opinions and knowledge was that they all came from experience!! She is a mom!!!
