Buhl Park used to be a nice place to go for a walk or to enjoy a bit of cycling. That, however, is no longer the case. That's because, recently, Buhl Park has quite literally gone to the dogs.
While a walk in the park used to consist of enjoying the greenery and scenery; now you must forgo the beautiful sights of nature and, instead, constantly look down during a walk in order to avoid stepping in the dog feces with which the park has become riddled. Further, riding a bicycle has become impossible, because it's simply too difficult to avoid the many piles of dog feces that litter so much of the park.
It's evident that several walkers have not been fortunate enough to avoid stepping in the dog feces, because it's a common sight to see it smashed and then tracked along the street. This only makes it that much more difficult to avoid. Those unfortunate individuals were probably under the mistaken impression that you could look around during your walk and enjoy the sights. It's too bad that they had to learn the hard way that walkers who want to save their shoes must constantly keep their eyes on the ground.
It's baffling as to why the park's management and rangers would let this become such a problem and I'm unsure as to why it has become so much worse in the past year. Perhaps it can be blamed on the dog park that was recently opened. Whatever the cause, a day in the park for the dogless is no longer an enjoyable event. Perhaps the solution would be to have areas of the park that are specifically designated for dogs. This would keep the other sections free from dog feces so that walkers could once again enjoy the park's sights instead of being forced to constantly look down and monitor the pavement. read more
