The Garden never ceases to amaze me. It takes anywhere from 20 minutes and higher depending on how much time you want to enjoy its beauty. The cafe inside is yummy (Kravitz Deli) and the gift shop is decorated beautifully. I love how the photo gallery is constantly changing. What a gem this place is. It's been years since I was here (like 30+). I love that unlike so many things in life, little has changed in this beautiful park. There's little that has to be said other than this, if you love nature, in many botanical forms, you must come here and experience it. The place is extra special when you realize that it was carved out of what was once a dirty, grimy, heavily industrialized area. It offered a respite for those who toiled in those long gone steel mills along the river that you can no longer see from that observation area under the flag pole. I proposed to my wife of 38 years on these grounds a little over 40 years ago. My wedding pictures were taken on these grounds exactly 39 years ago. I was so glad to see that the tradition continues as you see on one of my pictures. In today's chaotic and somewhat frightening times, it's nice to see the kinder, softer side of life continuing to survive. read more

Fellows Riverside Garden is a very nice garden for a small city such as Youngstown. The garden has many buildings--a visitor center, observation tower, pavilion, and gazebo--as well as 20 acres of colorful perennial and annual plants. Admission is for FREE! Hours for the garden are daily year-round from sunrise to sunset. The visitor center tends to be open on most days of the year from about 10 AM to 5 PM. As my husband and I walked around this garden, we saw lots of beautiful trees, shrubs, flowers, and other plants. The pavilion and gazebo were in good condition. Water fountains were very pretty to look at. A couple of wooden benches looked as if the weather was wearing them out, and a drinking fountain was filled with debris, but overall the gardens were very nice, and I will still award a 5-star rating. Other features of the garden are tours by reservation, a gift shop, and a cafe. I had arrived before the opening hours for the visitors center, so I had to skip it. read more

An absolutely a delightful place to visit, Fellows Riverside Gardens offers beautiful vistas and loads of flora and fauna to enjoy free of charge. The superbly manicured lawns invite visitors to literally walk where the roses never seem to fade. Be sure to visit the gazebo, enjoy a hike on a trail, and take a picture at the iconic Lake Glacier basin. There is a small cafe inside of the visitors center which serves a variety of sandwiches, soups and salads. Don't forget to stop by the gift shop for unique, seasonal home decorations. Loved these botanical gardens. We visited in mid-September and saw lots of colorful flowers; the rose garden was beautiful and so were the numerous flowered beds. Loved the fragrances in the herb garden. Couldn't find half the areas listed on the map. Would have preferred better signage inside the gardens. But the (FREE) price is great! My friend and I decided to visit since I was in town for a few days. She has lived here over 10 years and never stopped by. We both loved it!! We found wonderful back drops for pictures, screen savers, and reading books for future visits. I was sad I missed the yoga class...next time. Get a calendar of events for maximum enjoyment. beautiful spot that makes you feel like you aren't anywhere near youngstown. great memories here of my mom bringing me as a child, picnicking in the open field & paddle boating along the river. there's a huge willow tree in the field as well which hasn't lost its magic as i've grown up. i haven't been here nearly as often since my mom passed, but before moving out of state i brought my 3 year old cousin for the day & she seemed to have as much fun as i used to. if i ever come back to ohio, i'll be visiting the garden & the mill, it's a very special place to keep around. read more

Oh how pretty! The flower garden is a hidden gem in Youngstown, Ohio. Nested upon a hill in Mill Creek Park, there is a large garden featuring roses, trees, fountains, shrubbery, and many kinds of flowers. There is a lookout point over the city and lake, a large gazebo, and walking paths. You may run into a few wedding parties because it's a perfect location for pictures. You can walk around the garden, which is completely free. They also have a relatively new conservatory that has a cafe and gift shop. Depending on the time of year, the Christmas light display in the winter is worth exploring. It can be a little nippy though. read more

A pleasant garden in the middle of an up and coming neighborhood. Lots of different sections to explore and of course lots of flowers. This is a nice place to visit if you are nearby, but otherwise I wouldn't make it a trip destination if you are over an hour away. read more
