I had an absolutely horrible experience with Route 66 Towing LLC in Pontiac. We called them Sunday…read moremorning after I accidentally locked my keys in my car at Walmart. We had no spare key or way home, so we paid $156 over the phone for a lockout service. When the employee arrived, he used an air wedge and long-reach tool to try to unlock the car. He was having difficulty getting it open and was pulling hard on the inside driver's door handle with the tool. While doing this, the soft rubber protector on the end of the tool flew off onto my driver's seat, and the exposed tool slapped back with heavy force into the upper driver's-side area of my windshield. We then noticed a large crack coming from the same area where the tool had hit. I immediately pointed it out to my boyfriend while the employee was still there. My windshield was completely intact before this service. I also have multiple timestamped photos, including pictures from about a week beforehand, clearly showing the windshield undamaged. We called Route 66 within about 30 to 45 minutes afterward and explained what happened. The owner immediately argued that it wasn't possible for the windshield to have been damaged that way. After speaking with her employee, she called us back and said he denied damaging it. She agreed to meet us at their shop the following morning. She was late, and when she arrived, the interaction became extremely unprofessional. She raised her voice, repeatedly talked over us, accused us of potentially lying, and kept insisting there was nothing we could prove because we didn't have a video showing the exact second the windshield cracked. My boyfriend repeatedly tried to explain that we understand accidents happen and that we weren't trying to get anything for free. We were perfectly willing to pay the $156 because they did unlock the car. We simply wanted the windshield returned to the condition it was in before their service. Her only proposed "compromise" was refunding the $156 lockout fee instead of addressing the windshield. During the conversation, she told us we must be mentally incapable of understanding her and even told my boyfriend that if one of her guys were there, they would beat him up. We eventually stopped arguing and asked for their insurance information so the insurance company could investigate. She initially wouldn't provide it and repeatedly told us our claim would be denied. She eventually gave us the name of an insurance agency and agent rather than the actual insurer. We later obtained the correct insurance information ourselves, and a claim is now open. As we were leaving, she even made an irrelevant comment about us "probably being liberals." The entire interaction was bizarre and incredibly unprofessional. Accidents happen. My biggest issue is how this was handled afterward. My windshield was intact beforehand, we noticed the damage during their service, and we simply wanted them to professionally address it and allow their insurance company to investigate. Instead, we were accused of lying, insulted, threatened, and had to push just to obtain insurance information. I have timestamped before-and-after photos and will be providing everything to their insurance company. Based on my experience, I would not use Route 66 Towing again and would not recommend them.

This woman has to have the worst attitude I have ever seen ! Those who know my husband know he is…read morethe nicest, polite person especially to strangers! Today while trying to pick up our car from Route 66 towing this woman provided us with the worst customer service ever! Her tone was rude and nasty from the minute she stepped out of her truck! Snatching documents, cussing and calling me names, I did have my own choice words for her as well! I'm not the type of person to let people talk to me or my husband in a disrespectful way especially once she was trying to kick me off her property without giving us the car, when all we were trying to do was pay her so we could leave ! I'm not sure if she doesn't like black people or if this is just her natural personality towards the public. She did change her tone slightly once she knew I was recording her. Whoever the owner of this business is (if not her) should strongly reconsider the type of person they employ! I wish I could upload the video here So everyone could see her behavior

Less than Zero is what this business deserves. The two employees we dealt with were rude, with a…read moreconsiderable attitude towards their customer. This business was sold a few years back and even though they carry the name its not locally owned. Our car was towed do to the driver being transported via ambulance as the police requested the tow as a matter of standard operating procedures. The driver was unimpaired and was not involved in any violations or ticketing. The vehicle was towed approximately five miles that was involved in an accident with a deer. When we went to recover the auto we were told we had to wait till Monday to recover the car. The companies website says open 24 hours a day that's not the case. When we called to get the vehicle we were told we had to wait till Monday and that there would be a $50.00 per day fee that would be assessed for storage per day. So I guess if you are out of town or your car gets towed to their facility you have to wait till a week day. How convenient for them. So after two days storage the the tow was 370.00. We called to notify them we were coming to collect it and they said sure. Upon arriving we walked in and we were then told they only accept cash. Kinda makes ya wonder who is making what. According to the companies website they accept all major credit cards. Not only did they not tell us prior to arrival we were told in person they only accept cash. We also were told we were being charged an undisclosed amount because it was a police tow and Beaupre's towing had to clean up the area which was completely false as we returned to the scene, and they did not even pick up the tail light debris. So they must charge for the police or must have some agreement with the police as they locked up the vehicle and charged us a daily $50.00 fee so what is so special about it being a police tow that we got charged additionally on top of the storage fees? Unprofessional, rude, shady, cocky staff, cash only, strong arm tactics is what we encountered for sure. All and all I would stay clear of this business. Other tow companies locally we have never had a issue with, however this one seems to be the worst....
