Beyond burger with sweet potato fries
    Kathy C.

I can't comment on the restaurant service or ambiance because we order out for pickup. The order was ready when promised and accurately. (We got everything that we ordered) We both ordered burgers, along with sweet potato fries. Mine was a Beyond burger with all the fixings including cheese. I was surprised that it wasn't a slice of cheese but a cheese spread. The bun was especially good, and that's something coming from someone who normally rips off large chunks of bun to save on calories & carbs. My husband had a Teriyaki grilled chicken sandwich, and he says that their grilled chicken sandwiches are really good and this one was really good too. He also says their pizza is the thing to order here. Next time.

I may have been to Buffo's once, long ago. We were in the mood for pizza, and we decided to give it another try. You order at the counter, they give you a number, and they bring your food to your table. There were two rooms and we sat in the back, where they have a few video games and old photos on the wall. We ordered a pizza with cauliflower crust, half order of fried mushrooms, buffalo wings and a chocolate chip cookie that we asked them to bring out once we finished our pizza. Signals got crossed because the cookie was brought out, warmed, as soon as we sat down. This is a Highwood institution, with old school vibes. The wings and fried mushrooms were ok. The crust on the pizza was in some parts gummy and chewy, and in some parts overcooked. I got a gummy piece, and the toppings all slid off. It's hard to do a cauliflower crust, but when it's done right, you almost can't tell. The toppings were generous but it was very difficult to eat the pizza. And the cookie that was brought out right away was no longer warm and it was a little undercooked, but the outside was dry. The restaurant was filled with families, sports teams, regulars. I'm sure they will continue to support Buffo's but I think I will go to my favorite old school retro pizza joint (IYKYN).

Decided to try Buffo's, and unfortunately for me, it's a one and done. From the moment we walked in, I was over it. When you first walk in there is a counter with multiple stations to order and a pick up for online/phone orders. No one was at the stations except for one lady who was on the phone. We stood around with no greeting for longer than it should have been. We finally walked over to the online counter and they said we could order there. We ordered wings (it should be stated they are breaded), mozzeralla sticks, fries, a 8" specialty pizza half and half, and a fish sandwich. We paid for our food and got a table number to sit. The food came out in a decent amount of time. They weren't too busy so the dining room had plenty of places to sit. They closed the back section of the restaurant as it was late evening. We got our food and that's where everything went downhill again. The wings were not specified that they were breaded. I didn't mind that but the person I was with does not like them. Their pizza did not do it for me. There was way too much sauce not enough cheese and for for both specialty halves it lacked flavor. The fish sandwich wasn't any better. I mean you could tell it was just a frozen patty but with that the outside was barely crispy and the inside was slimy. Apparently Buffos use to be the spot, wish I would have experienced it then because right now it's a no for me.

A favorite since my childhood, even as a discerning adult, Buffo's still outsour very top notch Italian sausage, giardinera and bread. What a sandwich! Customer service is always the best. Parking is on street and across the street.

Great food, clean and very hospitable. Probably the best french fries I've had in years. They're freshly made and had extremely long fries. Never seen him this long and the Italian beef was great also

Great pizza and trivia with Brad on Monday nights!! Quality of service can be a little spotty at times but they're making a solid effort.

We were seated promptly. The place is a little louder than I prefer; we had a 2 top booth in the rear of the resto that tempered the sound level a bit, but keep in mind it's not a "quiet place". The menu is straightforward; pizzas, pastas, proteins. We started with the arancini; they were great (and a large portion, to boot). I had the house made pasta with Bolognese, and she had the chicken piccata. Both dishes were wonderful; again, really large portions. Service was fast and friendly, and dinner for two with tip didn't break $80 Recommended for a good southern Italian meal in Highland Parl.

Having just gotten home from an extended stay in the hospital, I struggled to put on shoes and retrieve it. Food was ice cold. Bag with calamari came sealed. Pizza box was not. After reheating the calamari was soggy and pizza pretty good. I would think delivery would have some sort of thermo bag to keep food warm. While I expect the pizza is better, all in all, Domino's delivers a better experience

Man, am I glad we got the flyer, because they have since become one of our local favorites! For the longest time, Lou Malnati's was our favorite Chicago style deep dish pizza, but Cansino's is now #1 in town for us. Their cheese blend is soooo creamy, stretchy, and delicious! It's apparently their own in-house blend of California cheeses, and it reminds us of the tasty Wisconsin brick that's popular in Detroit style (possibly a little creamier but less salty). Their tomato sauce is super savory, with a rich herb blend and not too sweet or tart - it's so satisfying! The crust is firm and delicious, and their sausage is leaner than Lou's while having a stronger fennel essence. We still love other Chicago style deep dish pizzas, but Cansino's will be the first on our list when we get a craving. We love onion rings in principle, but are a little particular about how we enjoy them. Cansino's onion rings are excellent - crispy seasoned breading and supple onion slices that are cooked juuuust right. Their fries are also really tasty, and we loved their fried mushrooms. I've tried two of their Mexican style tortas, which were also very good (I loved the fajita style veggies and beans, and the seasoned beef was pretty good). The steak and veggies were excellent, and their bread was pretty good. Next time, I REALLY wanna try their paninos. Their staff is super-friendly, giving us great suggestions of new things to try. The restaurant is always clean and well lit. Prices are fair for the neighborhood. Their preparation times are reasonable, and everything we've ordered was ready on time. There's plenty of parking right in front of the shop, and their front entrance is easily accessible. They're right across the street from the Fort Sheridan Metra Station, so I recommend trying them out if that's your stop. They also have some breakfast items, so it might be a good treat before your morning commute. We're definitely going to be trying more of Cansino's menu, and we'll be sure to add more photos and updates.

Worth a try I guess. Large thin 2 topping was around $35. So reasonable price for a decent thin pizza. Worth a try if you're hungry. Way better than than a chain id am say. 8/10 probably. So give Pieros a try you won't be disappointed. Enjoy folks.

I hadn't been here in a while, but I was glad to check it out again. It is hard to get used to how loud it is at first, but it depends on where you sit. The louder people near us left early into our dinner reservation, so that was good. Our server was super nice and eager to ensure we had everything we needed! Things take a while here, and it's such a long-running restaurant that you'd think service needs would be "well oiled" more than they are. It took us 10-15 minutes just to get water, and for me to get a club soda, it took about another 15-20. (These are estimates - I didn't pull out a stopwatch! That would be weird.) I don't think it was our server's fault either; she was running around the place very intentionally. I was a bit worried that this restaurant was coasting on its reputation and would have staid, bland food, but no! The minestrone was some of the best I remember having, and my friend thought the same of hers. She liked her spaghetti marinara with meatballs, and I was surprised by how much I enjoyed my spaghetti with what was basically vodka sauce. I didn't eat all of it, to say the least, because I was getting full, but I enjoyed what I had. It was very flavorful - recommended! (Just be prepared to wait a bit...don't go before a show.)
