My hubby and I love to get wings when we're coming home from vacation. Kind of like a tradition. We thought we'd give Buffalo's a try but I regret it. I ordered Bourbon BBQ and Asian Sesame but I'm not sure that's what I even got. The wings needed to be cooked a little longer in my opinion. They tasted fatty, watered down, and needed a lot more sauce. Definitely wasn't worth the $10. I think I would've been better off with anything else in that plaza... I recommend anything other than Buffalo's :/

Chicken was terrible, like, it wasn't real chicken. Super disappointed, as we were starving. The burgers at Fatburger are much better.

I first discovered the spot thanks to the famous "Date Shake" billboards lining the route between Las Vegas and Los Angeles. While the shake itself is a bit too sweet for my taste, I really enjoy their dairy-free date smoothie (no ice cream or whipped cream). We've tried both, and we consistently prefer the lighter, fresher taste of the smoothie. On that same trip, we also managed to visit while they were open and grabbed a traditional chicken sandwich, a spicy chicken sandwich, and an order of chili cheese fries. If you miss their regular hours, they stock prepackaged versions of the sandwiches in the attached gas station until they sell out. In my experience, they're usually gone by 10 PM, so don't rely on them as a late-night backup if you're hungry. The prepackaged sandwiches are slightly soggier from sitting in the packaging, but they're still very good -- just a little wetter than when made fresh to order. I definitely prefer the spicy version. It delivers a nice, warm heat without being overwhelming. Each sandwich comes with two thick breaded chicken tenders and pickles, and they offer their own spicy mayo as an optional topping. The chili cheese fries are on the smaller side, but they're tasty and come with freshly graded cheddar on top. I always prefer catching them open when possible, but if you're craving a chicken sandwich, the prepackaged ones are a solid option too. They're made fresh and then held under a heater, so the quality holds up surprisingly well.

We grabbed two burgers with the zucchini fries, and they did not disappoint. I'm obsessed with their gyro burger -- so flavorful and perfectly seasoned. My husband loves the pastrami one and says it's one of the best he's had on the road. The zucchini fries are a great twist and we always end up fighting over the last few. The lady working the register was super friendly and great with us. The place wasn't packed at all during the weekday, so the ambience felt relaxed and comfortable. Bonus highlight: they have the cutest pet cats that my daughters absolutely love watching through the window. It's the easiest (and most entertaining) distraction to keep the kids happy while we wait for our food! If you're driving through Baker, do yourself a favor and stop here. Solid food, friendly service, and a fun little vibe. We'll definitely be back on our next trip!

I've stopped here many times over the years whenever I'm driving between Las Vegas and California…read more I've always considered myself a loyal customer, which is why today's experience was disappointing. This morning, we were on the road earlier than usual, so I called at 7:46 AM hoping to place an order for pickup at 8:00 AM when they opened. The employee who answered sounded annoyed and immediately told me I had to call back at 8:00 AM to place the order. As someone who works in the restaurant industry, I understand policies and operating procedures. However, if staff are already in the building answering the phone, taking an order a few minutes early for pickup after opening seems like a simple way to provide good customer service and retain loyal customers. Instead, the interaction felt dismissive and unwelcoming. In today's economy, customer service and repeat business matter. Because of the experience, I chose not to stop, didn't charge my Tesla there as planned, and took my business elsewhere. It's unfortunate because this was a place I regularly visited and recommended during my trips.

(4.25 STARS)…read more Memorial Day road trips always seem to create the best random discoveries, and Pit Stop Bar & Grill absolutely delivered. Tucked away off Victor Street in Barstow, this was a fun find while driving back to Los Angeles from Vegas over Memorial Day weekend. Big props to Haley M., who was basically running a one-woman show and somehow kept the entire place moving with a great attitude and solid service. That alone made the stop memorable. The location has a cool, laid-back vibe with plenty to keep people entertained while grabbing food and drinks. They've got two billiards tables, a dart board, and all kinds of classic bar games, board games, and card games, including UNO, which is a family favorite. They also have several televisions. The food was all good too. I really enjoyed the Green Chili Burger, and everyone else in my party seemed genuinely happy with their meals as well. I felt they were trying to nickel and dime when I got the bill, i was charged for a side of ranch, a side of BBQ, and had no idea I was being up charged for the onion rings. I didn't say a word, but it hit wrong with me. .75 points deducted. What especially stood out to me, though, was the Memorial Day place setting displayed near the front entrance honoring our veterans and fallen heroes. It was simple, respectful, and genuinely touching. See my picture. That detail said a lot about the heart behind this place. If you're making the Vegas-to-LA drive and want something more memorable than the usual freeway fast-food stop, this place is definitely worth checking out. Great atmosphere, friendly energy, and one of those spots you end up talking about later.
