A few weeks ago, on an NFL Sunday, I stood at the front for 10 minutes - several servers walked by me and never acknowledged me. Eventually someone came to seat me and they said, "you can seat yourself at the bar." Even though, they had a sign that said "please wait to be seated." Within a 1-2 mins the bartender asks if I want a drink - he looked like he was in a rush to "pee on his territory" - as if the first person to acknowledge me gets to wait on me. I ordered a beer, and then waited at least 10 mins to get it. During that time - 3 servers came up and asked if someone had helped me.
During this time, I searched the TVs for my NFL game - it was a Sunday and any good sports bar will have all the games on, especially when they promote the Sunday Ticket. Mine was nowhere to be found. I eventually asked someone to put my game on. WHY do you have all those TVs and don't put all the NFL games on? They had the replay of a UW football game on one TV and a baseball game on another, but yet didn't have all the NFL games, which baffles me. This is why BW3 exists, right?
I eventually moved to the bar because I was tired of waiting for the bartender to wait on me. I was sitting near the end of the bar, and there was another dude by himself at the very end. He leaves but clearly didn't "leave" (not sure to restroom, smoke, phone call, etc.), but while he's gone, a couple (apparently either regulars or friends of the bartender) comes in and asks the bartender if anyone was sitting in the 2 end seats (including where this guy was sitting, but he obviously hadn't left or paid his bill). Bartender didn't say a thing. When the guy comes back, the couple says, "oh, sorry, were you sitting here?" It was obvious that he was. The guy, very nicely BTW, takes his drink and goes outside. The woman part of the couple makes a comment about the guy being "midwestern nice"?!?! - they never once offered to move somewhere else, how can you brag about midwestern nice when you that rude? So freaking rude and the bartender could have and should have "protected" the guy's seat. But he obviously knew them and wanted them to sit there.
Then, I ordered the House Sampler, which should come with: nachos with chicken, onion rings, mozzarella sticks and boneless wings. Mine came with nachos (no chicken), mozzarella sticks and boneless wings - no onion rings. When I asked about why no onion rings, I was told that they were out of onion and that they could replace it with fried pickles....
Then, my bartender brings me my check. I hadn't asked for it. I wasn't going anywhere. So, I settled up and left, because they obviously didn't want me there.
Then, this Sunday - I seat myself in the bar area...then waited close to 10 minutes for someone to acknowledge me - same bartender as before. He brings my drink, then takes my order. I got wings and everything came out as ordered and in reasonable time.
Once again, it was an NFL Sunday and I got there as the early games were finishing and clearly wearing my team gear. There was hardly anyone there. You'd think they'd put games on that people wanted to see. I waited until all early games were done, but still my game wasn't on any of the TV, even after the manager changed all the channels from the early game. There were four games...FOUR, yet they didn't have mine on. I eventually asked them to put it on and they did.
During halftime of my game, apparently a new shift manager comes in wearing a Miami Heat jersey and changes a bunch of the games/TVs to the Miami Heat vs Memphis Grizzles pre-season game, including the "main" screen that has the audio throughout the entire restaurant. I asked if she could put the "main" game back on - it wasn't even "my" game, but another important/big game that people were there to watch. She replaces my TV/game, leaving the Heat game on all these other screens that I can assure you nobody cared about.
When I asked her to put the other game on, she said, "I turned the box on and it reset the channels." Right. So, no TV ever turned off and a bunch of TVs just HAPPENED to turn to the Miami Heat game that I'm certain SHE was the only person who even cared about it. Let me say this again - pre-season NBA game. When she changes the channel (another table asked her to change another TV back), she keeps the "main" TV on the Heat game so the audio played the Heat game....in the midst of several close NFL games.
I'm watching the games and the bartender brings my tab. I hadn't asked for it. When I asked him if he was cutting me off (jokingly, I hadn't asked for it), he explained his shift was over. He never once mentioned this to me - just brought me my tab, just like last time (same bartender). I explained that I wasn't ready to leave - I was obviously there to watch my team. He explained that I could close out with him but the next bartender would wait on me. I wanted to order another appetizer and a drink...I waited 75 minutes and nobody ever stopped by. read more
