I've been to Riverworks for a few adventures now, and while I haven't fully explored all they have to offer, so far, so good. My first experience was Brewfest, where the wide expanse of the ground floor made it a perfect space for hosting multiple vendors without traffic jams. I came back for the silos, twice. Once they were hosting a chalk festival, allocating enough space in their outdoor half as well. Last year we returned in late October for a haunted story tour. You'll need to bundle up as the silo is not heated for cold nights, but the experience was entertaining and well thought through. Their main building however had excellent temperature control. Last night we attended a concert at the venue. There was ample paid parking (cash only, bring a tenner) and the entrance is clearly marked. They take security seriously with metal detecting and staff by the stage without feeling overbearing. They are there to help keep the fun safe, not be party poopers. They let people crowd surf and mosh, helping them down to avoid potential injury. The tickets were digitally scanned at entry before you hit the cafe. One of our party splurged on buying herself dinner, which she admitted was pricey. Though she did also mention it was very fresh and delicious with higher quality standards than most venues. This may be because you can get dinner here at their restaurant, doubling down as the place to be. My friend said he comes every year to watch Roller Derby as well. I've yet to hear anything bad about this place, which lets me comfortably say I might just have to peruse their event calendar for this little sparkling gem. read more

I like the intimate atmosphere of this venue for concerts. I was able to get very close to BBno$. The line outside was very long but luckily we got there about an hour early. The inside was well ventilated and they ended up turning on the indoor fans for circulation which was super nice. They even handed out waters during the show! I was pleased. The weird issue was that people were trying to use the bathroom or call rides after the show and security was kind of rude about kicking everyone out. read more

We visited on a Thursday during work hours so the place was a bit empty -- but great as it's a fairly large place. I imagine when they get busy it could be hectic. The views from outside were marvelous on a nice sunny day and a cold beer. Beers were okay, nothing to write home about. I think the charm of this place is the views. read more

Met a friend here on Sunday afternoon to enjoy the last days of summer outside by the water. Always enjoy their different beers. Had the blue eyed blueberry blonde this time. We sat at the outside bar, Jose was our very pleasant bartender. We were planning on getting a table to eat but stayed at the bar. We both ordered the fish Reuben, it was Mahi with Swiss cheese, spicy mayo, sauerkraut grilled on marble rye. Went to River Works tonight for the Buffalo Wine Festival (recommend!) we decided to have dinner while we were there. I had the Brewers Dinner which was pot roast with smashed potatoes and veggies. My husband had the Sticky Bird sandwich - a hot honey chicken sandwich with coleslaw and some chips. The food was bland. You could see and taste that the veggies were simply coated with garlic powder. I can't remember the last time I saw waxed beans served at a restaurant. It took much longer than it should've to bring a glass of wine to the table. It wasn't that busy. Seems the food should have come out faster too. River Works is somewhere you go to for the atmosphere you can't really expect to be impressed with the food quality. read more

This is hands down the worst venue I have ever been to. Tonight was my first time there. I was so excited to see one of my favorite bands, Lawrence, for the first time. Since I wasn't familiar with the venue, I opted to buy the reserved table seats thinking I would get a better view of the band. Nope. I sat under bright fluorescent lights by the bar that stayed on the whole time, and I didn't even get to see the band I paid good money to see. There was no indication that I was buying obstructed view seats. I paid over $150 a pop for this view. I left halfway through the show because the venue and their audacity to charge full price for these seats absolutely ruined the experience for me. read more

Came here to watch an MMA fight. Very large venue with upper and lower seating. The venue was attractive and well lit. They have a full food and drink menu here. I personally didn't order but I had some of the light bites my friends ordered. The pizza is a bit thin and dry but the chicken fingers were pretty plump. Verizon hosted NFL watch parties in all NFL team cities. The Bills one was at Riverworks. It was a great party. At the entrance we al got a bracelet with a food and a drink coupon. Food choices were pizza (2 huge slices) or 2 rolls with beef on weck. I went with the beef. Good choice, I would say. They have their own craft brewery and the Rejuvenator is a really good IPA. There were games and wings, wings and wings! At least 10 different flavors. Really a great treat! Bills celebraties, like Thurman Thomas, were there so you could take your picture with them. read more

This place is a specialty in Buffalo NY. If you have someone in from out of town, please bring them here. The food is amazing.This sandwich was the best Rueben I've ever consumed. I've had 30+ different Reuben's in my life, and I stand by it being the best Reuben I've ever had. Service here is great, at both the bar and tables. We went for the independent health family skating event. We were supposed to get special discounts. It was apparently free admission and $1 off skate rentals. I did not like the floor we skated on! Easter brunch was one of the worst meals I've ever experienced. Foods were cold, carving items were over cooked, chicken was hard as a rock, and for a $200+ bill for three people, I could've had a much finer experience at Denny's for Easter breakfast at a fraction of the price. I got an invitation to the Verizon Fan Fest. It was a great experience. Verizon set this up in all of the NFL team cities. We waited in a fast moving line to enter at 4 p.m. and were immediately given a plastic wristband with tear off coupons for pizza or beef on weck and a drink. There were two large pieces of pizza or two beef on weck sandwiches available for the food coupon. The drink coupon could be used for soda pop, bottled water or beer. Very generous! In addition, a very long chicken wing "buffet" was set up too. This was complimentary, no coupon/ticket required. There were at least 10 flavors of wings, in addition to mild and medium; several were a bit hot and spicy! 4 Buffalo Bills (including Thurman Thomas)were there to have their pictures taken with fans. There were a few games, like trying to be a quarterback and throwing a football through a hole/target. The live band added to the lively atmosphere. Absolutely the Worst Service We've Ever Experienced We brought a group of out-of-town family members here after the recent loss of a loved one, hoping to have a nice meal together and enjoy the Buffalo waterfront. Unfortunately, this restaurant absolutely ruined the experience. It was, without a doubt, the worst service I've ever received at any establishment--anywhere. From the moment we were seated, it felt like our table was completely forgotten. We waited ages just to place drink orders, and even then, multiple drinks were either mixed up or never arrived at all. Despite being a large group, we were patient and understanding--but things only got worse from there. We waited over an hour and a half for food, only to be told that the tacos we ordered had been dropped on the floor--and, to top it off, they were now out of tacos. We were then forced to start our order over. While they did offer a round of drinks on the house as a peace offering, even that was mishandled--more missing drinks and more confusion. Meanwhile, we watched other tables who arrived after us get served food promptly. There was no explanation, no urgency, and no accountability. The disorganization was astonishing. I rarely leave negative reviews, but this place earned it. If you're thinking about bringing a large group here--don't. Based on our experience, it's clear they are completely unprepared to handle it. Total disappointment during a time when we simply wanted to be together and enjoy a meal. When he finally introduced himself he said in a very monotone voice "I'm tired but I'm here" and he had deodorant marks all over his black shirt. Not the best first impression at all. Pretzel sticks 7/10 Very soft both inside and out, like a typical baked soft pretzel that you can get in the frozen section at the supermarket. Wish they were crispy on the outside. Cheese and mustard are slightly spicy but not much, they were ok. Nickel city nachos 9/10 Really good. Chicken was cooked great. Tons of cheese. Tomatoes were a nice refreshing touch too. the shelled fish (taco) Server came back to tell us they were out of that, but the Reuben on the river was the same (they are definitely not the same). So we ordered a burger instead. Flying Buffalo burger, med rare 8/10 Not really Med rare. More like medium. The burger needed more seasoning and salt. Wing dip was good. Burger as a whole just again needed some more salt to bring the flavors out. Everything together was just slightly bland and you couldn't taste the wing dip that much. This review is for the Independent Health Buffalo High Urban Ropes Course, located inside Riverworks. Actually, forgot that that was inside, great place to test your agility, skill and just to have fun. Inexpensive 2 level course, their were a few challenges along the way, overall a lot of fun, great view, and exercise. Just be careful of the spiders, and be sure to wear closed toe footwear, regular sneakers and comfortable clothing, my best recommendation. read more

I had to ask for a second drink, request the bill myself, grab my own to-go box, and even take the check up to pay. Meanwhile, the server was outside vaping while we were waiting for service. Riverworks is a fun place! I enjoy the views and the activities they have there such as live music. I also attended a murder mystery event here and they put on a really great event. The party was fun. Drinks and service were really good. They have many different cars so it's pretty easy to get served here. Overall I think this is a great place for family friendly fun, or a night out with friends for some fun. Check out the schedule in the summer. They have a lot of events inside and outside and there are some fun activities for kids too. read more
