This is a really great thrift store, and I really appreciated that they also had dressing rooms. They also had such a good selection of different brands like Loft, Ann Taylor, aritzia, Zara, banana republic, etc. The deals they had were also great like women's tops were $5, jackets were $8, etc., and they had all the prices posted on the flyer at the entrance of the store. All the staff in the store was really on top of everything and were constantly restocking the racks and getting things organized. It was a great thrifting experience. read more

So first things first, you gotta remember that this a thrift outlet, so that means these are the things that didn't sell at other thrift stores, so you know, it's not the fanciest place and items might be wrinkly, stained or damaged so just be sure to give things a good look over before buying. On the plus side, since it's got all the leftovers from other stores there's a fun range of styles and sizes for most tastes, nothing is over $8 and every weekend some items go on sale for 50% off or even as low as $1. It's one of my favorite places to shop guilt free, they have a changing room to try stuff on but even if you don't, it's so affordable you can either redonate or gift items to friends easily. Average clothes with VERY below average hospitality. Do not recommend. I had bought merchandise and had an emergency to use the restroom and was told it was not available for customers. Even in an emergency situation, I was turned away with no assistance or resolution. Everything at or under $8? Yes! I only packed for a month in San Antonio, but now I decided to ride out the pandemic here, so I need some clothes! Always wanted to go to Buffalo exchange but I found the prices expensive for thrift shops so I loved this place. I love how tops/sweaters are $5 and dresses/pants are $8 with certain colored tags 50% off (lots of those colored tags btw!) I found a lot of gems (lots of banana republic, Anne Taylor, free people, A&F, Zara, H&M there). Clothes were easy to sort through and had some modern clothes. Loved this thrift store! Super low prices for cute and quality garments! Found articles from forever 21, h&m, shein, pretty little thing, and more. Shirts, skirts, and sweaters were $5 each at dresses at $8 each (most expensive thing in the store lol). Only part I didn't like was that the staff did not fold my clothes well when bagging them. She pretty much just stuffed it all in the bag. For a clothing store could you please just take the extra 30 seconds to nicely fold my clothes before you bag it? I love the clothes but I came with my daughter, had her in the shopping cart in her car seat and they told me I couldn't have her in the shopping cart. How do you expect a client to just carry their child with them when they don't have a stroller? I told her I'm liable for her she's my responsibility why the heck can I not have my own child in a shopping cart so I can shop for clothes and keep an eye on her? She can't walk. They have a HUUUUUGE selection of good clothing and good name brands for really good prices! I actually got a very nice Tommy Hilfiger red sweatshirt that I absolutely adore for $5! The only reason for not giving it a 5-star rating is because if you wanna sell your own stuff, you must mail it to the main store up in Austin, although this is not really their fault. First off my tip is grab a shopping cart and browse thru each rack. I found several cute tops. The employees were super nice and helpful. The shopping cart made it easy instead of carrying items. It's a smaller store, but definitely check them out some good finds hidden in those racks. read more

I'm from NY and Buffalo Exchange is definitely one of my go to stores. I was so so so excited to see there was a Buffalo Outlet here! Everything is $8 or less. When I walked in, I was surprised how tight it is and how close together the racks are. It kind of reminded me of Beacons closet in Brooklyn. They have small carts (which I DEFINITELY needed), but they barely fit between some of the small spaces, so it makes for an awkward shopping experience. The clothing is priced like a thrift store, which is cool because it's already a bit curated since a buyer selected it somewhere. With that being said, the Buffalo in Manhattan is almost ALL racks of expensive clothing, with Brooklyn being similar but maybe a little bit more funky. I love shopping there to get a wardrobe I wouldn't be able to afford anywhere else. I've been to several Buffalo's across the country, too (actually..probably almost every one ) and I would expect there to be more high end stuff here based on the inventory of a regular Buffalo. I have been to the Crossroads outlet in CA and they have a ton of designer items. My thought is Buffalo might sell designer pieces elsewhere and not at the outlet, which I guess makes sense since the outlet prices are so good. I know this is the stuff that didn't sell full price or on clearance, but I have seen way too much good stuff on clearance to think EVERY piece is at this store. With that being said, I still found the shopping experience to be amazing. I did end up buying a ton of stuff and spending a lot. I found Parker, Paige, Miu Miu slacks (the only well known high end brand item I found that I didn't see any flaws on), Suno, and a lot of other great stuff. There was a TON of Target brands, and H&M. Majority of the outlet would be rejected by the Buffalo I mostly shop at. The employees were super nice, and I've been to other locations around the country where they aren't, so that was great. Make sure you check over your clothing very closely, as it seems most of the items with flaws wind up here and 50% of the designer brand items that they do have at the store (which, as mentioned, is not a lot) are stained, ripped, etc. I had to put back a lot of items. Hopefully the review doesn't sound negative because I did really enjoy my time here and felt like I scored some great pieces. I think just overall I was expecting to see a more spacious store with more hidden gems and less target/low end brands. I would 100% come back here if I wind up in San Antonio again. read more

Stopped by this past weekend and was pleasantly surprised! They don't accept any of the store credit at this location as their regular locations nor do they buy or sell here. Basically they get the merchandise from other stores that didn't sell well and send them here. Clothes are divided by type and categories. Each category has a price and a color. Very much like a thrift store or goodwill. Everything is $7 or less. They also have $1 items. Only cons I really have about the place is that they have 1 cashier. Check out is slow, and the place is very small. It gets cramped up easily. Besides that, I recommend you just stop by sometime with no expectations and see if you find something you like. read more

While visiting in San Antonio, I went on a thrifting spree. I turned to yelp and found the Buffalo Outlet. I thought I had seen the name before but it didn't register until I went inside. I was in love. It's so nice and small and quaint. Small with all gems on each rack. Even the $1 side. I had a ball. I told the young lady the Buffalo Exchange where I live (Washington, DC) was nothing like this one. She said there were only 2 outlets out of the whole chain and that was one. I wanted to like this place because of the location if nothing else. But it's gross. It feels like a dusty old attic. It's just this overwhelming sense of cobwebby, creaky, gross oldness. But what's worse is -- it smells like halitosis in there. It's an oppressive stench that you want to instantly move away from but you can't because it's simply in the store. The shoes they have on display ... are dirty, stained and dusty. This place is just gross. Idk who wants to shop here but heck at least Goodwill is clean and doesn't have snooty, self-important employees. Also- and this is a biggie - the sweater I tried on was FILTHY inside the front collar. Ew ew ew ew ew!! Seriously? Do you not even check clothes before you take them? Or do you check them after people try them on 100 times? In my entire life, I have never encountered anything like this at a clothing store, or thrift shop. If you mean Outlet of frustration then by all means this is the best place to hit up. Whomever decided to make this Buffalo Exchange location to an outlet must've had some strong hate vibes towards San Antonio because this location is a joke to the Buffalo Exchange name. Anyone who has visited a Buffalo Exchange or Outlet in other cities can come across the aesthetic that they're known for some funky-ass clothes that are fun and make your wardrobe even better than before. This wasn't a "let's conform to society's" trends and style, Buffalo Exchange was a form of individual expression. Well swap out the original Buffalo Exchange and place in Buffalo Outlet and you basically have a brick and mortar store of the bottom of the barrel pieces that no one wanted mixed in with some target brands. The demeanor has changed and the selection is downright sad. I don't even think the employees are as passionate about it as they used to be and I would do the same if I was in their shoes. The mens selection is really bare and nothing to really sift through if you've been to this location within the past month. I still for some reason come here time to time hoping I may find a gem and have my moment like Charlie did when he found the golden ticket and ran across town screaming to everyone. read more

This thrift store has a lot of offer! I was able to find brands such as free people, princess polly, zara, and urban for around $5 each piece! Was just here today, but not sure how I felt about the place. I have a shopping addiction, but I also have the problem of buying things I like that are not my style. Combine this with the fact that I'm moving soon, and I thought it'd be a great idea to pack up a load of my well-kept purses and dresses and head on over here to sell them or some cash or a credit towards a new pair of shoes or something. Went in, and was not greeted or acknowledge in any way until I set my boxes on the counter and looked around... even though I walked past a few different employees by then. The girl at the register went over their policies and was friendly and helpful- they go through your stuff, pick what will sell soon, and give you 35% of what they price it out as. Doesn't sound like the best deal, but I figured it'd be better than nothing. I spent a good 15 minutes looking around- I know this is a hipster place, and I guess I shouldn't be surprised, but based on the merch I saw out on the floor, it became hard to say whether or not they would accept my stuff. It seemed like the more I looked around, the tackier and more unappealing the gaudy prints and pre-pubescent-sized clothes appeared. I can't tell if that's what "sells" or if that's one employee's idea of what hipsters will buy- considering I was told that they buy what is "trendy", most of the items looked like they came from a garage sale in the 80s. There were a few gems, though: +BCBG Max Azria white shiftdress with black lace inlays ($20) +Kate Spade cut-out tote in walnut leather with lime backing ($75? No thx.) +Kimono-style dresses in a surprisingly large size, 12-16 ($20 again) Sure enough, when I got back to the front desk, I was offered a scant $11 for three dresses; two of which cost of $100 in the first place. Not that I expected to get a significant portion of that back, but I really felt like my items would have been some of the better items for them to offer here, without having to go up on their price point. I really didn't understand why more of my items weren't accepted- I mostly took in purses, and they didn't take any; and their purse selection was pathetic and dismal. Oh well. You live, you learn. Would not recommend selling stuff here unless you really don't care. Would not recommend shopping here unless you're looking for a costume for a theme party (shout out to the authentic-looking oriental dresses in the plus-size section!). Service was polite and friendly. Just don't understand how they select their buy backs at all, or sell 90% of what they stock. read more

Parking is limited in front but they have street parking on the side and a lot in the back. The store isn't that big either but I found some steals of deals. I know Buffalo Exchange from when my mom lived in New Mexico and will always go if I hear of a store in town. This was another successful find. Sure enough, another person's unwanted items were a treasure to me. It's like a thrift store but with style. I found a Betsy Johnson dress and a couple tops. The ladies were helpful after I told them I needed a dress for an 80's party. I tend to want to look through every single rack sometimes so I won't miss anything and don't like it when it's too overwhelming. I went through all the racks in a decent amount of time and felt the store was really manageable. Everything is already worn and fits just like it does in the store. It'll never stretch out or shrink and it's a passive way of supporting recycling. I love skipping a bag and donating my coin to a good cause on the way out the door too. read more

Absolutely loved the experience here! The staff was very kind and helpful. I ended up leaving with 4 pairs of pants and one dress (only two used!) for about $16, an absolute steal! They have deals depending on the tags and type of clothing, like Blue tags mean full price, green means half price (I believe) and lilac is only $1! This store is great for style on a budget, and they have a large selection of clothing for any size. They also have collections of shoes, winter clothing, jewelry, and bags. The men's area is also quite extensive. Will definitely be returning in the future! read more

I recently brought my plastic tubs of clothes I couldnt fit and was surprised by how much they didn't buy. I could over hear the employees asking if they should buy certain items and two girls commented "I would wear that" but stuck it in the donate bag. Funny thing some time later I saw an employee wearing that same shirt. It really makes me question the lack of donations they're really giving. Before that I would've been like everyone else giving 4 to 5 stars. That's taught me if they don't buy it, don't donate it. Take it to Boysville yourself because that actually does go to funding and helping boys and girls. Shame on you employees. I did get a pretty penny for some items, unique sweaters and dresses received top dollar. They're interested in lots of tacky accesories. Sorry, I didn't have hideous jewlry, but if you do, you might find luck selling it here. Aside from that, you'll find a great shoe selection as well as dresses. I'm just an average guy looking for a good pair of jeans that fit well and will last for a couple years. And average guys don't want to pay a lot of money for their jeans. I thought the Buffalo would be a good place to hit up while in San Antonio. I felt small walking into the store, seeing attractive people with impeccable fashion senses browsing with fierce eyes. I'm just looking for a pair of jeans, guys! I don't want them distressingly distressed, or heaven forbid *acid washed.* I found their selection of "good, functional" jeans to be slim. I'm not into acid washed skinny jeans that look like a blue cow, or some ridiculous rhinestone embedded-butt jeans. But I DID come across some spectacular Michael Kors shoes that would fit my mom perfectly. They weren't fashionable and that's why the fierce-eyed shoppers overlooked them, but they were originally priced at $200 and Buffalo sold them for $20. Moral of the story: if you're coming for fashion; come. If you're coming for good clothes, cheap and well-fitting; stay at home. And if you're shopping for your middle-aged mother: come. read more

So, this is no longer a Buffalo Exchange, but a "Buffalo Outlet." What's the difference, you ask? Basically, it is now a Goodwill but with a different name. Gone are the well-organized racks of recent clothes, sorted by size. They've been replaced with the items that didn't sell at other locations around the country. For you, that means getting to browse through dingy tank tops from 1993 and Southwestern style patchwork "suede" jackets. They even have the "green tag is half off today!" and similar sales. The signage has been stripped away, they don't even pretend to want to give you a bag anymore, and cardboard boxes litter the sales floor. It's just... icky now. Save your time and go elsewhere. read more

I am so in love with this place! I've sold/shopped here on several occasions and have never left disappointed. I much prefer Buffalo Exchange over Plato's Closet for both selling/buying. I won't compare the two shops too much because it's almost comparing apples to oranges but what I will say is that the selling process is SOOOO much better at BE than Plato's. The staff is friendlier and will even take the time to chat with you about your items. And the prices they offer to buy your items is much more fair. Speaking of buying, their buyers definitely know what to look for so shopping here always gets me excited. On top of that, their customer service is the greatest, bar none! read more

The new Buffalo Outlet When I heard the Buffalo Exchange was turning into an Outlet location my poor little second hand loving heart wept silent tears. I imagined piles of junk. Varied junk from all over the US. Having since stopped by to shop though; holy cow. It pains me to make this public (for selfish clothes loving reasons), but this place has been getting some fantastic things! True things are not organized by size anymore but they are still working on getting setup. True these are items that did not happen to sell in other stores but don't let that keep you away. I have found brand new, designer, or just plain awesome things here every time I have visited. (To the dudes reading this, I've seen cool things in your sections too). The sales on top of the low prices are amazing. It gives you a chance to try styles you might not want to pay full price for. They put new stuff out everyday too. And the staff have been helpful and friendly every time I have gone (and I go a lot now *blush*). A Goodwill by a different name? I think not. Cheesy half off sales? I think not. So if you're a true bargain hunter and used to putting in a little time to find those special things, this is the place for you. Now go forth and shop! read more

SO awesome. And even awesome-r that we have at least one location in town! The people are friendly - I love the one cashier who when we asked each other how our day was going, his response was something along the lines of being okay but having to deal with biatches all day. Ha ha Even when my babygirl and I come in at the last minute, they never try to rush us out - just a friendly reminder that they're getting ready to close up shop. And I'm okay with that. Even bigger deals and steals is what I expected from a Buffalo OUTLET! Unfortunately, it's really just some deals... but not for what I would call steals. There are mostly Target brand items on the floor and not much unique style. There were a lot of what could be costume pieces so if you're prepping to put on a play, I would check this place out.
