    Closeup well done wings

We thought it was really solid! Called ahead on NYE around 4:15 and was quoted for 5pm pickup. It worked out perfectly with a stop on the way from home. We shared the double order of Spicy Well Done Traditional Wings. That sauce was TASTY let me tell ya. I haven't had wings like this before where they're completely drenched. I personally loved it but my husband wants to do dry next time with sauce on the side. We also want to try suicide in hopes it's still buttery/creamy with more heat. Bring it on because we love the heat. I have to be honest and say I was influenced by Jinabaobina and it was a great rec! Never heard of it prior, don't cancel me. Service was quick and accurate with quote. Welcoming upon walking in and cash only!!

Definitely some of my favorite wings of all time. The buffalo sauce and ranch is unmatched. The waffle fries at this location are always cooked well and soooo good! It's a very casual restaurant, so don't expect anything fancy. The staff are not always the most welcoming at the front and when ordering. There is plentiful seating in the back of the restaurant, making it a great spot to enjoy food with friends. We like this location better than the one on Howard for a variety of reasons. Note: They are cash only and there is an ATM.

Pretty good for a local wings place. They take cash only. Has plenty of seating and gives a small diner vibe. We ordered the bbq wings and fries with extra ranch. The ranch is homemade and the waffle fries are well seasoned. The bbq wings taste good too but are small. Also the workers were sweating behind the counter and touching their face/arms and then handling the food without gloves. Overall, I liked the food and would still go again.

If you know you know...Buffalo Joe's is ALWAYS a stop when we visit. We have taken our friends here when they visited and they have nonstop talked about this place. Their sauce just hits different. They are cash only and don't expect amazing service. I don't care for their attitudes, but I usually do take out anyways so it's a quick in and out. You get what you get here lol.

I didn't enjoy it the first time and I didn't enjoy it the second time. I understand why it might be a staple for local college kids, but everyone else should probably stay away. I ordered spicy wings with waffle fries and an RC. The place is very dirty inside and smells like a bathroom. The fries are flavorless. The wings are small but the flavor is okay. RC products generally aren't that great. I really wanted to live this famous dive. The servers were friendly but it's cash only which is inconvenient in this day and age.

Prices going up but wings about have stayed the same over 30 years.. quality is good but I'd like a few more wingers

Buffalo Joe's is considered a Evanson institution by many of my friends that went to Northwestern. though it sits a bit off campus in the business district .it does seem to get a big crowd from both staff members and locals as well as students.. most people tend to order a single order of wings, which get you about 12 wings and their sauces, unusually sweet and buttery. I went during lunchtime but I can see this being a popular late night institution: #buffalowings #evanston #cashonly

A friend of mind introduced me Buffalo Joes! I have to say I am highly happy that he did. Let me get into it! Food: Hands down the best chicken wings! The flavor and the freshness was great! Each time I have come I always feel satisfied. Service: The speed of how quickly the food comes out and how the cashier is very chatty and how they walk you thought the menu is great. Atmosphere: Or ambiance like I call it, the decor really matched the shop vibe! I really like walking in as it makes me feel I am going back in time. Overall, I would visit Buffalo Joes any time I am in the area. I love the food and how friendly everyone is.

Spicy wings and Buffalo Chips with a Gutbuster RC

Took a nostalgia trip back to Buff Joes, and I it was like nothing changed. Went for the spicy wings, just like I remembered. Waffle fries were perfectly crispy with just a little too much salt like always. Same weird pictures on the walls. Plus the only place that is keeping RC cola still in business (Gut Buster is a drink size). Glad to see this treasure from my Northwestern days made it through. Plus the prices haven't gone up that much either, the only affordable place still in Evanston for college students. They got my boyfriend's burger a bit wrong, but that might because he doesn't speak Chicago or Buff Joes. He still enjoyed it. Never change Buff Joes, you're the future-nostalgia a college student needs.

My go to wing place when I'm always in town. Other wing restaurants don't do justice like buff Joe's wings especially their suicide sauce.

Cheese sauce was gritty and ruined the fries. Wings were average. Ranch was good. .

I also ordered a side of cole slaw and red beans and rice. The guy behind the counter said they don't have mild sauce for the chicken. Then he told me the sauces that they had, so I said no sauce. I guess he was also relating the sauces for the rib tips when I already said no sauce. They cook the chicken fresh and may take a little time. When I got home, I was ready to dig in but I found out the sauce discussion left my rib tips with no bbq sauce. I called them and a nice lady told me I would be taken care of the next time, I visit. Thank goodness, I had bbq sauce. But I tried the tips without sauce and they were seasoned well. I put on some Sweet Baby Rays on them and dang it was good. The tips were tender and a lot of meat. The chicken was so good that I wish I would have gotten more. It was seasoned and crunchy. The Cole slaw was okay and the red beans and rice was good, just which it had a little more pot liquor. I would definitely go back. Also the prices that they have online is really outdated.

Service and the staff is super friendly. Got a two drumstick and two breast and it was only $12. Very filling and hit the spot! I don't want to sound sacrilegious but I think fans of Harold's in Chicago would really like this place ! Very limited seating there but would recommend you eat fresh there if you can. It's located right down the street from Northwestern University's football stadium (whatever the heck they're naming it). This is a nice hidden gem in Evanston. Not located downtown, it may have a chance to stick around a while. As Jane V. noted in her review, you are greeted by a delicious smoky smell when you enter the restaurant. It was an inviting smell (at least for me), others in our group thought we were walking into a barbecue joint and were less than thrilled, but the menu put them at ease as it has a lot of options. There were five of us and one couple decided to share a couple appetizers as their entrees. They ordered the Cauliflower Buffalo Bites, and the Macho Nacho. They were huge portions easily enough for us all to share. However, my wife and I don't see eye-to-eye with our eating habits (she is mostly vegetarian and I'm a card-carrying carnivore), so she was not about to share the smoky wings and cheesy tots with me. I opted for the Chicken Vesuvio entree, and she and our other friend both ordered the Inside-Out Grilled Cheese. I would say most the sandwiches looked good (no portobello for me, thanks). I would say though, the desserts are pretty generic, so we opted out, but their is a door inside the restaurant to the donut shop next door (which was closed), but I wanted to try that place, so I'll have to make another trek out there for them and review them later. I'm amazed that the donut shop, DB3 Donuts, does not appear on their menu at all, despite having a connecting door from one establishment to the other, but alas, I've heard their apple crisp and brownie are good, but neither were too appealing that night. All meals were delicious and I definitely need to go back and try other dishes. And may DB3, if they are open. Give this place some love as it is a nice gem in Evanston.

Holy Moley, did we find great food in Evanston!…read more We celebrated Saint Patrick's Day at Ten Mile House restaurant in Evanston @tenmilehouse When we walked in the door, they had a delicious smoky smell that was driving me crazy. So much so that I ordered the smoked Sampler plate, and was I glad I did. I started off with their Top O' The Morning special Saint Patrick's cocktail (Titos, Curacao, and orange juice shaken and poured over ice). I really loved this drink. My hubby had a Margarita that was just delightful. Our appetizers were: Angry Shrimp (really delicious) shrimp with a spicy tomato garlic sauce. Served over polenta cake. Ahi Tuna Wanton (mango jicama salsa, avocado, and teriyaki sauce) This should be their signature appetizer). The presentation is impeccable. It appealed to our eyes before the 1st bite. And,the first bite, as well as the rest, was wonderful. We would gladly return here just for this. Our entrees were: Grilled Salmon with corn risotto, grilled asparagus, smoked tomato aioli. The salmon was well cooked to medium, not too dry, and not too rare. The plate was well balanced and everything was very tasty. Smoked Sampler My favorite! Rib tips, brisket, pulled pork, Texas toast, cole slaw. For dessert: Chocolate Brownie Apple Crisp Both were so good that we did not want to share! The next time you are in the Evanston area, you really must stop in for their delicious food!
