This spot is such a classic! I have been coming here for many years and always love coming back. Just an FYI that it is cash only. They also have an ATM machine if you don't have cash. Generally this location is usually pretty busy almost every time I have been here. Not too loud, definitely a place where you chill and hang with your friends over some wonderful wings! The food comes out pretty fast though & it's a spot where you can order, eat, and leave in a reasonable time. We came all the way from River north and it absolutely exceeded all expectations. It is a cash only so make sure you bring cash! The place let us place our order and then we ran across the street to grab cash. There's not much seating in the front, but they have a larger seating area in the back. They don't necessarily have servers coming around, but if you don't clean up your garbage, someone will pick it up, but please also pick up your own garbage like a normal person. This has to wing ratio was on par. The wings refresh and since they were made to order, they were perfectly coated. Price was relatively fair. Unfortunately, the seats were not very comfortable, but the place was pretty packed when we went. Since it's right on Northwestern's campus, there were a ton of students. We got an order of the mild and the spicy wings, but I think we preferred the spicy. I must be crazy, why have I not reviewed this spot because I've been here a million times...whelp better late than never...or I'm just going to go with its right on time for me LOL. My go to order is a double order of spicy with at least 3 orders of buffalo chips so I can eat one bag on the way home. I'm not greedy I'm just being realistic. The seasoning on the waffle cut fries makes the greasy bag irresistible and making sure I have some for the fam by having my own car snack home is a win for everyone. I've ordered single pans and whole pans for parties and their wings are always sooooo good. We thought it was really solid! Called ahead on NYE around 4:15 and was quoted for 5pm pickup. It worked out perfectly with a stop on the way from home. We shared the double order of Spicy Well Done Traditional Wings. That sauce was TASTY let me tell ya. I haven't had wings like this before where they're completely drenched. I personally loved it but my husband wants to do dry next time with sauce on the side. We also want to try suicide in hopes it's still buttery/creamy with more heat. Definitely some of my favorite wings of all time. The buffalo sauce and ranch is unmatched. The waffle fries at this location are always cooked well and soooo good! It's a very casual restaurant, so don't expect anything fancy. The staff are not always the most welcoming at the front and when ordering. Took a nostalgia trip back to Buff Joes, and I it was like nothing changed. Went for the spicy wings, just like I remembered. Waffle fries were perfectly crispy with just a little too much salt like always. Same weird pictures on the walls. Plus the only place that is keeping RC cola still in business (Gut Buster is a drink size). Glad to see this treasure from my Northwestern days made it through. It's true homemade wings and sauce. While o think it's a little on the expensive side, you do get a pretty generous order of wings. I thought their spicy was going to be hotter. First, they dry their wings ahead of time and when you place an order, they refry them to which makes them very hard to eat. I ordered a single order BBQ and the wings were very chewy and puny may I add. Nothing like I used eat; the wings were plump and plentiful. Second, the price does not match the quantity. I paid almost $15 for 12 nasty pieces. I guess those college kids will eat anything. I know Buffalo Joe's is a staple but I don't know how they stay in business. Definitely my favorite buffalo flavored meal, since their sauce isn't crazy strong and has more of a cheesy flavor. The chicken patty is fried with a thin coating and not a crunchy (or soggy but thick) shell of batter, doused in the sauce, and perched on a bed of lettuce and tomatoes. The hamburger bun is nothing special, so all the magic was the chicken and the sauce! I think taking the tomatoes out helps you taste more of the flavor but that's just me (and everyone else in my group)! The the meat was tender and so, so good. The fries were ahhhh-mazing.
