PATHETIC SERVICE BY BUDGET AVIS: THEY CHARGED 50% MORE THAN WHAT THE APP SHOWED I chose Budget Car Rental over others (Enterprise offers better rates without discounts) only because it was recommended by a few people. However, they charged me $200 more on a $470 booking. The fun part is that the car they gave me wasn't cleaned. It had someone's hair on the back seat and food UNDER the seats. The car started showing 'Replace Oil' and other weird things mid-journey. The best part is that their website doesn't show any email. The phone numbers are only for roadside assistance. There's absolutely no way of getting to know why I was charged more. If you're reading this review, reconsider choosing AVIS/BUDGET. They're failing in the market for a reason. The representative at Budget was extremely professional and listened to my concerns picking up a car in Boston and dropping it off in New Haven. He explained all the charges and gave me what I thought was a decent deal considering we'd have the car for 11 days. The car was actually a minivan which was perfect so that we had plenty of room. This place has to be the worst in the state. The employees are rude. They treat customers as though they're doing you a favor. The cars are not washed or cleaned at all. Please be mindful if you return the car more than an hour and 30 minutes late you will be charged for another day. A full day plus fees. They take weeks to return your money back to your credit card even if you've paid in advance. They treat people like this because they're the only rental car place at the airport. The same people own the Avis rental car company as well. Avoid using them if possible. read more

If zero stars was an option I would pick it... the rudest employees I've ever dealt with, they act like your inconveniencing them by them having to do their jobs. Forgot a pair of prescription glasses in the rental and when we called to get them found and picked up we were hung up on twice then they told us they didn't have them and the car was already rented out after requesting a manager they finally admitted to having them. Absolutely ridiculous how crappy this location is. I would advise you to just walk to where you need to go before you rent from here. read more

Don't use Budget! My daughter paid in advance for a car. Her credit card (on my account) was in her maiden name and license in married name. As second driver with matching card and license I said I'd put it in my name. The guy at the counter gave us a number to call to authorize the switch. Said to expect a long wait. After the promised long wait and multiple transfers they declined to allow the switch. Guy at the counter was surprised they didn't, implying they could have if they'd wanted to. And that's another reason I use Enterprise, where they go out of their way to help, not hinder! read more

Absolutely the WORST car rental experience on the planet. Cars are filthy and smell like smoke. Terrible customer service. Refused to change out my car. Agent said they don't have a car wash on site ~ when I say filthy think the dirtiest most disgusting fast food smelling dumpster fire imaginable. I'd rather walk. read more

Rented from Budget at Tweed New Haven Airport, in CT Both vehicles were high mileage with original tires - worn tread. It was a challenge in winter weather. On the first trip I looked at three vehicles. All were dirty and had trash still in the cars. Budget reduced fee, but did not fix the problem. Second trip was the same. We removed trash and it has not been cleaned or vacuumed at all in quite some time. Concerned that if the car isn't clean, that the car has not received proper service. read more

The car was clean and nice, the waiting time for pick-up was short, the service perfect. For that I should give 5 stars! But on our trip we got a problem with the car and needed the 24 Hour Road Assistance. The Assistance didn'arrive on time and we got other help. Because the display indicated "Transmission Malfunction" we called our agent for changing our car. They told us to drive the car back to the station for changing. So we did. But we lost a whole day of our holiday. At the station I asked the person at the desk for refund of the renting fee of the lost day. But there was a very unfriendly woman without any manners! I got no answer on my question. "Do you want to change the car or not?" was all she said. I asked her for the name of her supervisor to ask him for a refund, but I didn't got it. Terrible terrible service ! They declined to USAF airmen today. Had a reservation in the husbands name but didn't have a current photo Id so the wife , also in USAF said she will make the reservation In her name and they denied to honor the same rates ! Both are getting deployed in a few weeks and were here visiting family and got TERRIBLE service ! No respect for service men whatsoever . So after we dropped off my sister and husband here and headed home to RI they had to take an uber car back to where they were staying !!!! Horrible horrible read more

DONT USE THIS PLACE. false charges. $300.00false fees for a half day rent. I never smoked in my life and they put a smoking bill on my charge. I filled with gas 1 mile away and they claim, again falsely that it was not filled...I even have the gasoline bill to prove it...this outfit sucks. I rented a car at half tank by Tonya. Thank God I took a picture of tank and milage!!! I returned the car to Bryan who was extremely rude. I explained that was incorrect so we went back to the computer. He called me liar, sarcastic, and told me I had an attitude when I showed him the picture of gas and odometer that I had taken proving the mistake. He kept asking me for more proof and I told him that was all I had. He started yelling asking for more proof. I've never experienced such unprofessional behavior. I told him to charge me and I would complain. He didn't charge me and acted like I should have kissed his feet in gratitude. No idea what his problem was but not okay. read more

CAUTION....Do not rent a car from this location. They charge false charges!!! I reserved a car on-line. I picked it up at Tweed. I dropped off on time with a full tank of gas at 3pm. No one was at the counter on a Saturday although sign said 10pm. I was charged for a car upgrade (I did not upgrade)(I was charged a re-fueling charge)returned tank full. (I was charged a cleaning fee!!) I was the only one in the car did not leave anything to clean!! It was the same as when I picked it up!!!!! I called this morning and the guy said to me he will not remove any charge and hung up on me. Then I called the corporate office and they were going to call that location.
