Well, first of all, when I first pulled up to the Office building I was met by a gentleman by the…read morename of Luis, I could see he was handling alot of work load at that particular time, but he didn't hesitate to stop and kindly ask me,what he could do to help me, that he would be right with me, and then I told him that I was here to basically reserve and start a contract, realizing that would take a little more than quicker greeting of his time ,so suggested for me to come back at around 2:30 which I did. He patiently went over all the details and I was able to put my deposit on it and have it scheduled for pick up he informed me to call at a closer date near pick up date and to schedule a pick up time, I really appreciate it common courtesy and professionalism. I've been business owner myself since 1997. I thought to myself ,I had more employees like this. I probably wouldn't have had to work so hard all these years! I would like to say that how much I appreciate it, to have him help me with my RV rental. He helped me so much, to assure a good experience with my RV rental. Last but not least if they're a promotions or raises of income. In my opinion and in my heart. He deserves one thank you Luis will be back.

First timers renting Rv and it was awesome. The San Mateo location is very friendly (they don't try…read moreto nickel and dime you) and the Rv was clean and ran very well. We rented the standard size and it was not that hard to drive. Having own bathroom and shower is so relaxing and eliminates worry of finding hotel or restroom. The refrigerator kept our food/ice cream/ drinks cold whole time and hardly used much propane. We dumped our black and gray tanks in the rwc Rv park for $25 and then filled up gas before returning the Rv. Will do it again soon as the Rv experience is a lot of fun. The radio now has Bluetooth so you can play music from your iphone easy while it charges on the drive - nice.

I'm not sure why this place even has 2.2 stars. It literally should have zero stars…read more I rent from U-Haul all the time, especially at Bayshore Blvd., Millbrae and Belmont . This location is just absolutely rude. They don't even know what customer service means. They won't be in business for long.

Beware of U-Haul or "how to hack a vehicle insurance claim"…read more First, this is a final summary of what happened in this cautionary tale, so "Try this" or "do this" comments do not apply, though this being Reddit, feel free to 20:20 hindsight.  I rented a U-Haul van at Park Merced in San Francisco for less than 2 hours.  U-Haul conveniently has an app that leads you to believe that this is easy. I showed up 1/2 hour before closing, picked up the keys, and declined insurance because I have very good car insurance. The app has you take several pictures of the vehicle from different positions - doors open and closed / inside and out - 10-15 minutes to complete the process before and after. Being unfamiliar with the vehicle, I drove slowly and carefully. Upon returning the van, I specifically didn't park next to other vehicle so that I could again take those pictures more easily. I completed the return on the app, and placed the keys in the drop box and went about my evening. Three weeks later I get a random voicemail from a random insurance company about "the accident you were in on (date)" and a call back number. I was skeptical of scam, nonetheless I did return the call, and got the agent's VM. I referenced the Claim number they left, and simply said, "I'm returning your call, but I was not in any accident."  I called U-Haul directly, and they told me that there was "no record of any accident or claim." So I moved on with life. A month later, I get a call from an adjuster at my insurance company that a claim has been made to my insurance. I explained that I had NO information to give because I didn't hit anyone. I had multiple conversations with the adjuster over the following 3 days, concluding with the adjuster telling me that "the paint" of the vehicle and the scuff on the van didn't match, and that I was not responsible and the fraudster's insurance agreed. TERRIFIC! I wasted some time, but I can now move on with my life... not so fast! Turns out that while my insurance and fraudster's insurance agreed I'm not at fault; however, what happened next: fraudster filed claim directly against U-Haul: backed up with "anonymous" witness telling a tale. U-Haul paid the claim, then went to my insurance - then to "binding arbitration" and my insurance must now pay. I only found out about this after the determination and 2 months after being told by my insurance that I'm not at fault and not to worry any longer. My ONLY option now, according to my insurance, is to apply for "Reconsideration of Determination" so my rates would not go up - but the ding is still on my driving record - this could not be changed. (I won that determination by the way I'm furious at this point. A decision was made by the "binding arbitration" that I was not notified was happening. In attempting to gather information to file for Reconsideration U-Haul would not provide anything. Not information regarding party that filed the claim, not the name (or even the statement) of the witness. No pictures of the fraudster's vehicle, only an "after the fact" photo of the U-Haul van's bumper with a scuff on it. I know it was not from the pictures I took from the app because there were vans visibly parked on both sides (and as I said, I parked away from any other vehicle.) I have no problem taking responsibility for my actions. Accidents happen. I understand this, and this is why we have insurance. If I were to have been in any way involved, I would not have issue and would let this go; however, I did not do this. My insurance ultimately agreed with me AGAIN, and approved the Reconsideration of Determination. So the hack is if you want to have a vehicle repaired, just have someone make an anonymous witness statement to U-Haul. U-Haul will happily pay for the damaged vehicle.
