They couldn't get their new drums to seat on the hub so the tried a steel sledge hammer with no luck. So they just mounted the 2 rear tires and said it was fine. I am going to start my story in December 24. I researched and found budget brakes b/c my 2016 Kia was starting to make the grinding sound while driving. I made an appt and live was super busy, I forgot about the appt AND I forgot to call. Two things that are out of character for me. Fast forward to April, still needed brakes and called to make another appt and apologize. The Mgr. "D" was super helpful and kind and I made the appt for a Saturday morning. Upon arriving, the promptly grabbed my keys to look at my car. D himself took me to the garage to let me know what the found and explain things to me if I didn't already know. My rotors were completely rusted and basically disintegrating. He showed me two other cars in the garage, different makes and years of cars and showed me what they were supposed to look like. I was mortified. We then walked back to the office where he gave me the total. Since I had not planned on anything else but my brakes for that day, I was not prepared for the amount. However they will work with you for a plan that suites you and helps you get the repairs you need. D is very kind and helpful. I brought my Lexus in for a brake and Rotar issue. I spent $520 to fix the issue. Driving it a day later the problem was worse. I took it back in and they resurfaced the front Rotars again and said they couldn't find anything wrong with it. I drove the car immediately to Nashville and sent them the video below. The manager "D" will try to talk for about 2 minutes without taking a break in an effort for you to just say "OK" and ultimately you'll have to take it somewhere else and pay more money. In this case "D" advised not to resurface to rotors again. When I called the corporate office after spending 3 days on trying to get this resolved they only offered me to resurface to rotors again which the tech advised not to do or a discount on spending even more money with them. I'm not going to throw more money at a problem that should have been fixed with the original $520.00 that I paid them. Ultimately I'll just have my Attorney file a suit and they'll refund me plus pay my costs. You can tell that the pay structure is one that has the manager needing to hit a certain target in sales per day/ week because they will always over prescribe, but never want to refund for under satisfactory work. They told me a sob story about how my truck would just almost fall apart basically if I just did brake pads and no rotors. Again the same manager talked straight for about two minutes barely taking a breath and said if you do this you will hear nothing but grinding the noise will be terrible and its perfect. It's the upsell, its the fear sale. And it's disgusting. This place has made so much money on suggesting things that did not need to be done on customers vehicles. read more

I arrived at Budget Brakes at 12:45pm for my agreed upon 1pm appointment for a front end alignment. It took them until 1:55pm to get my car on the lift. It sat there until 1:35pm then they call me to tell me my car needs new tie rods to ensure the alignment stays intact. I can be out the door with a total cost of $839 and change. I said that was too much, then they knocked about $300 off and tried to charge me $500 and somethin. Here's the problem, brand new tie rods were put on my car four months ago so they're virtually new. They weren't satisfied with making $71 and change for an alignment, they wanted much more for their time and effort and tried to sell me something I didn't need. I also turned down the alignment because I just didn't trust them to do that. They could have said they did it and not have done it. So I drove for an hour, 30 minutes there and back, sat around for 2 hours waiting on them and spent about $10 in gas just to have them try to gouge the heck out me. Quoted one price charged a different one. I was told over the phone that they would replace two front brakes, one rotor, and one right caliper that was faulty, as well as a caliper hose. If I said yes to this, they stated that they would adjust the rear drums and give me the second front rotor on the other side for FREE. So I said yes. Upon going in to pick my car up, the gentleman at the front told me that he misspoke when he said the right caliper was faulty, it was actually the left. He also stated that he didn't have to replace any hoses and that they work working fine. I was okay with this, except for the fact that the price was still the same even though they didn't replace the hose like they said they were going to. (Which doesn't make much sense, less work cheaper price usually) I was going to let that slide and be fine with it. However, upon reading the receipt I saw that there were 2 rotors on it, each costed $110 and he only gave me an $82 discount. So now we have less work that has been done on the vehicle for the price quoted that INCLUDED said work. AND the rotor that he said he would include for FREE is actually $28. Once I confronted him about this, he started profusely sweating and dancing around the question. He claimed that he said it was the right but actually it was the left side and that caliper costs more! Upon googling that after leaving, it stated that left and right calipers are typically the same price. Which is what my common sense was telling me as he was trying to use that as an excuse. He also tried to guilt trip me by saying that he adjusted the rear drums for free! And that he could have charged me for that! Which is super shady considering he told me he was going to do that for free on the original quote. Overall, he told me straight up that I was getting something for free, then admitted while I was in the store he could not "just give it to me for free"so I ended up paying $28 for it. Once confronted on this simple issue that could have been fixed with rather easily by refunding me $28, he instead became argumentative and used shady tactics to try and confuse me and guilt trip me. I ended up just paying and leaving because it's not the end of the world. But when I go to the mechanics I expect them to honor their word. If they say something is FREE that means FREE. If they say something is DISCOUNTED that means DISCOUNTED. I have no issues paying them for their hard work. I don't appreciate being lied to or misled. I gave 2 stars instead of one due to the fact my vehicle is fixed and they did it quickly. BUT be careful if he tells you something over the phone, double check the receipt and make sure he actually honors it. read more
