From our very first visit, my very precocious reactive puppy immediately responded to her calm, loving demeanor. In that moment I knew she was the right trainer for us. She took the time to understand both my puppy and me, assessing our home environment, my work from home needs, and my puppy's unique personality to create a unique tailored approach. Diana helped me better understand my puppy and her behavior, as well as how she was responding to my own behavior. I learned that some of the practices I had used successfully with my previous dogs were actually contributing to my puppy's reactivity. We started with one-on-one training sessions at home, with homework in between. When we realized my environment was actually inhibiting our progress and making impulse control more challenging for my puppy, Diana suggested a board-and-train. This was a game changer. Diana provided regular video updates with narrated explanations and guidance to help me understand what she was doing and why. I was amazed at the progress my dog was making! My puppy emerged with all the beautiful characteristics she was born with - smart, energetic, outgoing and empathetic - but now she is calmer, more responsive, and much better able to manage her impulses rather than reacting to everything around her. Included in the board-and-train are several one-on-ones with me to ensure I have the tools to maintain and build on my puppy's progress. Diana has us practice not only at home, but also in places and environments we frequent, so that her training translates into our everyday lives. Diana is incredibly thoughtful in her approach, genuinely invested in both dogs and their humans, and always responsive to questions and issues as they arise. My puppy and I adore her. We both recommend Diana to anyone who not only wants to train their dog, but also to understand their dog and learn how to support them in becoming their best selves.

I have been a foster of dogs, mostly pit bulls for years and have trained more pit bulls than I can…read morecount (it is not hard with pitties), but I never had a St. Bernard before and thought I was over my head. Heidi is my personal dog. We tried one trainer for a few days and she was so bad I fired her. I then bit the bullet and hired Dog Training Elite in Los Angeles. They were a little more expensive than other trainers, but Heidi was impossible for me to train, despite all my efforts. Jon, the owner came to the house for a free consult. At that time he was the only trainer at Elite as they had just opened in LA. He later got another trainer, Clayton. Both worked with Heidi and pretty much failed, but they helped her with a few things. Now, you would think I would write a bad review, but no. No one, I don't think will ever be able to get the most stubborn, spoiled 120 pound monster to do a thing, but I love her. Jon and Clayton were never late, not once and that is important to me. Both could see my frustration, but they kept trying and trying and they did mange to get her to do a couple of things. They kept their appointments as they should. I could see all the effort they were putting into getting Heidi to cooperate. They would teach stay and the next day she would refuse. They taught heel which she has never done for me. Nothing lasted more than a day or two and I did all my assigned home work--yes, they give homework to help your dog succeed. They even went so far as to give me a couple extra sessions at no cost because she was such a pain. They did everything they could. But Heidi was just not having it. But, she loved Jon and Clayton so much. She would get so excited when they came to the door. She especially loved Clayton, sorry Jon, but a girl gets a crush and what can you do. She loved them both though and they were so good to her. They kept their promises (the inability to get Heidi to do much is not their fault). There are only a few dogs that just won't or can't be trained and I have one under my feet as I write. They never broke her spirit-so important. She is loving, never would bite and is so very sweet. She is great with other dogs. That said, I have had to hire a dog walker because I am older and Heidi will just knock me over and no one should ever walk a dog they can't control at all times. I know she misses her time with Jon and her crush Clayton and if for a second I thought they could train my big beast I would hire them again. But she is fully grown now and I don't see what anyone else could have done. They tried it all. I work with her everyday and she just looks at with a "No, not doing that" face. She is wonderful, just the most stubborn dog I have ever seen in my many years. They did show her such love, that I do think they helped her be the happiest dog. What I love about Jon and his company is how professional they are. They keep up with the latest training tactics. They are kind. They clearly love dogs. So, I do recommend them. They know what they are doing, but they are not going to hurt a dog and make her depressed just to get the result they want, I won't either. They just love dogs and I bet never fail. Heidi is just, well, a rare exception. And I also think she has a tad bit of brain damage for what reason we don't know. Had nothing to with Jon or Clayton. So hire them. Now you are saying that these behaviors require continued consistency and reinforcement after the dog returns home. But how was I supposed to properly continue and reinforce the training when you never provided me with the promised training videos or the follow-up lesson? Please do not shift responsibility onto the dog. Theo is an American Cocker Spaniel, a breed widely known for being intelligent and trainable. You knew his breed, age, and behavioral issues before accepting him into your program and taking my payment. If you believed those issues could not be meaningfully addressed within your program, that should have been communicated before I paid you -- not after the fact as an explanation for why there was no progress. I do not need you to tell me that you "understand that my expectations were not met." These were not simply my expectations. These were services that YOU specifically told me were included in the program and that I paid you to provide. I expected you to do what you promised. More importantly, I have seen no meaningful progress in the very behaviors you were hired to address. Theo already knew basic commands such as sit, down, stay before he stayed with you. Yet after three weeks in your care, he still pulls on the leash, bites my hands, chews walls and other things in the house, has potty accidents, and has even urinated inside his crate. Based on the results I have seen, the issues I specifically hired you to work on were not resolved or meaningfully improved. It has now been more than a month since Theo came home. You had plenty of time to send the 2 promised training videos, provide the 1 follow-up lesson, and return Theo's favorite toys that were left with you. Instead, my messages were repeatedly ignored. What is especially concerning is that after weeks of being unable to get a response or the services you promised, I posted an honest review describing my experience -- and suddenly you have time to respond and offer to come over. At this point, I am no longer comfortable working with you. My trust in you as a trainer has been completely lost. Based on my personal experience, I would not feel comfortable recommending that other dog owners leave their pets in your care. I am requesting a refund of the amount I paid for this program. You have already contacted me right after I posted my review here, and I asked for a refund, and so far my request has also been ignored.

I had a very distressing experience at Hollywood Dog Obedience during a class with my dog. While I…read morewas speaking with Linda about paying for the class, my dog was suddenly attacked by another dog, resulting in injuries to his face. The incident was extremely traumatic, and I felt that the situation was not handled properly by the staff. After the attack, I was particularly upset by how the staff handled the aftermath. Instead of properly checking on me or my dog, I felt they were more focused on comforting the owner of the dog that attacked mine. I was also unable to obtain the information needed to handle my dog's medical bills and to report to animal control should I desire. As someone who came to the class to help my anxious dog build confidence, I left with him more fearful and injured. I believe there are serious safety concerns that should be addressed to ensure this does not happen again to another dog or owner. I hope that by sharing my experience, the business will take steps to improve the safety and care of all dogs in their classes. Update: In response to the owner's comment: My dog's injuries were more severe than described. In addition to a small tear on his lip, he also had a puncture on his nose, and his face was swollen. I did not refuse to provide my information--I only requested the other owner's contact details to help with the vet bills or animal control if deemed necessary by my vet before I would give them my personal information which had nothing to do with anything as my dog was not the attacker. I believe more attention to safety and customer care is necessary to prevent future incidents like this. I've noticed that both owners of the dog that attacked my dog posted positive reviews after I shared my experience. This raises questions about their impartiality. It's clear who they favor, and it's frustrating. There seems to be little regard for the safety and well-being of others, both physically and mentally. This reinforces my belief that this place is not safe.
