This was our first time trying Buck's Pizza. We tried to call in our order (before arriving at the restaurant) this evening, but there was no answer, so we just assumed they were very busy. We arrived and were able to place our order right away (very friendly staff)--then we asked if they had tables for dining in. They said that we were to go to Bottle Restaurant, a few doors down and they would bring the pizza there. Bottle is a cute restaurant but, as the name implies, it sells wine and other liquor. We don't drink, so we purchased the only bottle of water the store had on its shelves. It took about a half hour, but eventually someone showed up with our pizza, napkins, paper plates, and red pepper flakes and parmesan cheese. The pizza was FANTASTIC! I've lived in this area for over 20 years and have had pizza from another shop in Tryon, all over Hendersonville, and several shops in Fletcher, Arden, and Asheville. This was HANDS-DOWN the best pizza we had ever had. My husband and I ordered an extra-large with half pepperoni and half artichoke hearts (a rarity in this area). The pizza is so full of cheese--the long stringy cheese you see restaurants in Italy--and the toppings are generous. My husband was born and raised in Brooklyn, so he knows pizza--and he fully agreed with me. We will definitely be returning! read more

First time here after trying all the other places around Tryon. Did have a little trouble understanding the hours, like others mentioned, but figured it out after talking to the owner in person (hours on Yelp are wrong). But service quality? They told us to head down to The Bottle (excellent wine store on the next block) rather than waiting for our food and they'll find us when it's ready. Nicest people. And hands down the best pizza in or around Tryon. Great thin crust, stringy gooey cheese, rich slightly sweet/slightly spicy sauce, pepperoni that curls up with a bit of a crisp on the rim, and a little browned cheese overflowing along the edge of some of the crust. My most excellent wife had the gluten-free crust (cauliflower) that was even crispier and made the sauce pop even more, with veggies and garlic that were so fresh and flavorful it was hard for this meat eater to stop eating. With the number of restaurants that have closed around here the last few months, super jazzed to find one that we can't wait to try again. Keep it up, count on seeing us again soon! read more

I like to patronize our local restaurants, but I cannot recommend Buck's. I've ordered from them several times over the last few years, and the experience has not been that good...but I always just let ot slide. Orders have taken at least an hour on average-I live 10 minutes' drive from their location. The last couple of orders took over an hour to be delivered. Also the food on the last couple of orders have been mediocre at best, so I have to say it's just not worth ordering from them again. Brick's in Columbus and Mama's Treats in Landrum offer better pies. read more

This is not a sit-in restaurant. It is take out only. Everything is made while you wait and they are busy so it's recommended to call in your order. The personal pizza was 6" and the perfect size for one person. The pizza crust was like none that I've ever tasted. It wasn't doughy; it's almost crispy. I had regular crust and not the thin crust so it would not ordinarily be crispy but it was and it was good, almost crispy but not flaky like some pizza crust can be if it's thin and crispy. The employees and owner (Tyler) were so kind. It is amazing to watch them work. They have a system down that works well. It really is fascinating to watch because they are super busy and it isn't the biggest place to work in. For two personal pizzas and one drink, it was less than $12.00. So worth the wait. Bucks is a funny place. When they make good pizza it's GOOD but, when they don't they REALLY REALLY don't. They have hours that would make a city clerk jealous with its obscurity. Absolutely, the best pizza around. It is a little hole in the wall restaurant with the best food. They are super generous when they add on the extras on pizza. It may be part of franchise but you would never know it from portion size whether it be pizza, salad or hoagie and friendly staff. I've just moved into town and drove past this place a few times before actually going in there and ordering up the Deluxe. I gotta say I love this pizza joint and the pizza's in it! It's pretty much take-out only unless the single table out on the street is free then you can wait out there and they will serve up your pizza for you. In my opinion, this is the best pizza in the area. I know it's subjective but the taste was for me, SPOT ON! I have eaten at the other 2 well known pizza joints in the area and they are definitely good as well but I simply love Bucks pizza. Been ordering from Buck's for a while. It's fairly consistent, fairly good and the only real delivery option in Polk County. The menu has its highs and lows. The pizzas are pretty good fresh out of the oven. Not as good cold or for leftovers. The sauce is pretty darn good for a chain. Kids love it. The three star rating is really more for the overall menu. I've definitely had some four star pizzas there. Other items are more average. It's a small franchised chain and the menu is what it is. Cheese sticks (which are just dipping bread sticks) are good, too. Greek salad not too bad....feta dressing is good. read more
