If you want to keep your dogs healthy...DO NOT use Pierson Creek kennel:…read more We left our two dogs with Pierson Creek Kennel while we were away on our summer vacation. This was our first visit. We were initially wowed by the communication with the owner, the facility, the protocols - on paper and on the web it looked amazing. Three days before our scheduled pick up (while we were still far away on vacation) we received a call from the owner stating that they had boarded a dog with kennel cough, our dogs had been exposed, were now showing symptoms and we needed to come pick them up. This was difficult news to digest on many levels: 1. We dropped off healthy, happy, robust dogs. 2. We were more than 500 miles away - still on vacation. This became a big stress and worry for us. 3. We needed to scramble to find friends and neighbors to go pick up our dogs (folks who don't have dogs, as kennel cough is extremely contagious). 4. We needed to find alternative care until we could make it back home. 5. We needed to consult our vet and seek treatment through phone calls (our dogs were very sick and required two different medications which we just finished 12 days later). I paid our $1,000.00 kennel bill over the phone with the owner so our neighbor could retrieve our dogs. After 24 hours I contacted the kennel again through email with specific questions about the dog who came in sick, the cleaning protocols, was a vet involved with diagnosing our dogs or the initial infected dog, and I did ask for some reimbursement for our bill - even partial reimbursement to help cover the cost of our new, unexpected vet bill. I was very calm, understanding, gracious, and just needed some answers so I could best update our vet. This is where it fell apart for me: I was told by the kennel owner that this was stressful for them and they took a financial hit as well (not what I needed to hear at that time). They would not refund us, not even partially. There wasn't any remorse for the situation or putting us out financially, impacting the health of our dogs, or cutting our vacation short. We have been home now for 12 days. We came home a day early from our vacation to be with our very sick dogs - continuous coughing, spitting up milky phlegm everywhere, lethargic, and both have labored breathing when they try to be active. The kennel has not followed up to check on us, the customer, or the health of our dogs, They have not extended the olive branch - no apology, no refunds, no discount to try to entice us to use them again - nothing to mend this very broken relationeship. What we did hear, is this is the 3rd time in 30 years they have had to close for kennel cough - that's 10% of the time if I'm correct. If you want to drop off healthy happy dogs and pick up healthy happy dogs - DO NOT use Pierson Creek kennel. If you want to form a long lasting relationship with the people that are caring for your precious pets - DO NOT use Pierson Creek kennel. If you value customer service and want to work with someone who values you - DO NOT use Pierson Creek kennel. Shame on Pierson Creek kennel for taking in a coughing dog. And shame on the owner of the sick dog who spoiled this experience for many. You know who you are. YOU should be held liable as well.

He reached out to his many contacts here in the US and around the world. He turned down a lot of dogs before he chose the one he thought was the best dog for me. Ruby was trained under the watchful eye of Andres and a brilliant young trainer named Chiara Tonelli. She had the difficult task of learning all she could about my disabilities so she could train Ruby to be my service dog. This was no easy task as I have mobility issues due to advanced Parkinson's disease and a variety of neurological problems including a stroke and hearing loss from long Covid. I also suffer from PTSD. Chiara and the team at Pro Canine trained with Ruby and kept me up to date with videos and text messages. I needed training as well and I always came home with videos for reference. They worked hard with Ruby and I. In all of my hours there never once did I see anyone lose their patience, especially with me. I was much more difficult to train than Ruby. I'm a retired engineer so I ask a million questions, compounded by my neurological deficits I was a challenge. Through Chiara's careful consistent tutelage and fantastic dog training skills, Ruby and I learned to communicate, respect and above all trust each other. We succeeded in a way that was beyond my expectations. Because of Andres' and Chiara's amazing work with Ruby and I, I'm getting my life back. Ruby prevents me from falling, helps me up and down stairs, she helps me to navigate the outside world, and now I even go out with friends again. She spends countless hours calmly at my side during my many hospital stays, medical tests and lengthy treatments. She helps me navigate though NYC, including trains, subways, busses and cabs to get to the doctors and hospitals there. She handles all of this as easily as walk to our local park. My ER visits have gone from 1-2 a month to none since Ruby finished her training and has been living with me full time. Ruby's attention to me never wavers, even when people ignore her service vest and pet her or offer her food. Her training is incomparable, having earned her the respect of the K9 officers in the hospital and my local K9 officers (who continually threaten to steal her for the police force). There is a gentlemen living in my neighborhood who is a well respected dog trainer himself. He tried to break Ruby's concentration as a test while speaking with me and she even ignored him. It was no surprise that guessed correctly that she was trained at Pro Canine because of her excellent behavior. Andres and Chiara along with the entire team at ProCanine have my utmost respect and full endorsement. I will forever be grateful, without them I'm not sure I'd be here to write this.

She used to lunge and bark at anything and everything -- other dogs, loud trucks, strangers, even deer! Leigh helped us understand what was going on with Daisy's wiring, and once we addressed her underlying anxiety, she was a different dog. Daisy has learned to get along well with our Maine Coon cats, as well as be polite to guests in our home. The kids love playing games with her, and she is doing so much better on walks now that we learned pattern walking and calming techniques that work in real time. Our pup came to us crate trained, which we loved, but now that she's older and we've built trust, she is able to sleep all night on a bed in our room. I highly recommend Opportunity Barks for compassionate, humane dog training solutions!

We had previously trusted Opportunity Barks with our 2-year-old dog, but our most recent 10-day…read morestay was extremely disappointing. The manager at the boarding and training facility has changed in the past year, and unfortunately, our experience under the new management was far below the standards we had previously expected. When we picked him up, he had diarrhea and arrived with a soiled behind -- yet we were never notified of any stomach issues during his stay. He also had a deep scratch across his nose, which we only noticed in the daily photos and had to point out to staff ourselves in order to get him proper care. When we submitted a review after his stay, staff claimed they had informed us about the scratch and that he hadn't had any stomach issues while in their care. Diarrhea is very evident with our white Samoyed, as his fur gets soiled and requires extra cleaning, so their claims felt like gaslighting rather than honest communication. Instead of acknowledging their mistakes or committing to improve, staff told us we were no longer welcome and even blocked our portal login. Their response was dismissive, unprofessional, and demonstrated a complete lack of accountability. For the health and safety of your dog, stay away from Opportunity Barks and their unethical, unprofessional behavior.

The other day I took all three of my Cavaliers to her and she refused to groom my senior Cavalier. Of course she only spoke to my husband because she knows that she would get a crap load of questions from me. The last two times I took my dogs there and got them have my notice that the insides of their ears had not been trimmed and the ears were not cleaned then I noticed that they were not bathed. If you smell the bottom of your dog's paws and they smell like Fritos, that means your dogs paws did not get any clean water on them. So the last two times that I took my dogs there my husband said you DO shampoo the dogs correct and she said yes and again we got them back and they were not shampood. I would absolutely not recommend this groomer to anybody and right now I'm so angry that I'm thinking about calling the Better Business Bureau. I also noticed that her Facebook account is not active. Maybe that was because I left a horrible review. I am not even kidding when I tell you do not take your dog there.

Adoption events were always great to attend and everyone was always warm and welcoming and you can clearly tell the volunteers are there to help the dogs get adopted. The volunteers really made Animal Alliance a positive experience and are really the only reason I am giving the shelter 2 stars. They are truly trying to help the animals there get adopted. The owner Annie, however, is incredibly rude. I never had a good interaction with her. No one is allowed inside the shelter and she will yell at you to move away from the door if you get too close. One of the dogs I had fostered ended up needing medicine and when I brought him to the shelter she was rude and dismissive. The puppy did eventually get medicine he needed. From other volunteers, I have heard stories about Annie preventing dogs from getting adopted out and signs of abuse towards the dogs. Overall, if you ever go to Animal Alliance, I hope you never meet her. The shelter itself, while no one is allowed inside, smells AWFUL. Any time the door opens, there is a smell that comes out and it's disgusting. I would not be surprised if the conditions of the shelter are not very cleanly. The smell sticks to any person or dog they bring out. I once met a potential foster dog and it was brought outside for me to meet and the dog smelled like feces and I had to cover my nose. Both of the dogs I ended up fostering went straight into the bath when I got them because the smell was too strong.
