We came in last night and it was busy! But we were able to find a few spots at the bar! The service was good, but not great, I get that they were busy which is stressful! It's a very cool place! We went there for the first time last night. We were very impressed. Great atmosphere! They have a very nice parking lot and outside curb appeal. The inside is very spacious and somewhat rustic. The owner obviously put money into this business. Beer prices are reasonable. Food is good and reasonably priced. The only issue I had was the up charge for fries. Sweet potato fries instead of chips is $4.00. That is a bit excessive. Overall, will definitely be going back on a regular basis. read more

I ordered a carryout (Small Pizza and a sandwich wrap with fries.) I was told it would be a 45-minute wait. When I got there at the appointed time, I had to wait another 30 minutes. I ordered the Buckhorn Pizza without mushrooms. When I finally got my order, the sandwich was soggy. The fries were ice cold, and the pizza had mushrooms all over it. However, it was hot. I ended up eating something out of my fridge. The bill came to $33.39. I will not be ordering a carryout from this establishment. Nor will I go there for a sit-down meal. read more

The building is older and looks like a log cabin inside and out. It was clean. The Dogman is on full display here. Read the legend on the back of the menu. The service in this place is really good now that Kelly is running things. Pool is only 50¢! We ordered 3 appetizers: frickles, loaded tots, wonton poppers. All 3 were cooked to perfection. I was disappointed that there were no green onions on the tots, although there was something dried and green sprinkled on top. Taste of all the apps were great. We also got a small pepperoni pizza. It was loaded with great-tasting pepperoni and lots of cheese. The sauce was uneven, but not absent. Sauce flavor was garlicky but no Italian spice detected. Crust was flavorful and perfectly cooked. I do wish I could've had a second plate for my pizza after the cheese sauce from the tots + ranch/sour cream was on my plate after eating the apps. The quality of food here is generally really good. Standard up-north Michigan bar/restaurant...tired decor and furnishings but that's not necessarily a bad thing. Friendly staff but the wait times especially for pizza can be long. Prices are acceptable for the quality. The fried pickles are worth getting so give those a try. read more

Food is excellent, great pizzas! The server works very hard but is usually spread thin so prepare to be patient and have an extra beer. This is one of our favorite local bars to go for pizza and it's nice inside with ample seating, a claw game , jukebox and pool table! read more

This place has a decent atmosphere. Food is very limited and a bit overpriced. Staff is very slow waited 29 minutes before we were even acknowledged. Another 10 minutes to get our drinks. (There was 3 other tables) so not busy. The waitress took 15 minutes taking a 5 to order. Almost this entire time the other tables food was in the window getting cold. I seriously don't understand why the cook didn't run it out since he didn't have any other tables to cook for. Since we hadn't been able to order and she was taking forever to get the other tables order. Anyway after 1 hour I got up and left (blood sugar was rapidly dropping) she yelled at my companion that she was about to come take our order. And told him to just get out don't worry about paying for the pop. Anyway by now the place had about 12 tables waiting. We went up to Marion and ate on the way back through every car was still there. Sadly they are the only place open for many Miles after 2pm early in the week. Probably won't be back. read more

So it's not like this place has a lot of competition... there isn't another bar or restaurant for miles. On our way to Traverse City, this ended up being a perfect stopping point to take a break from driving and get dinner. We split an appetizer platter and I got a side salad. The lettuce in the salad was juuust starting to be past its prime. It was fine, but not ideal. The "bacon" on the salad was actually Bacos, which was a bigger disappointment. Their ranch also might just be Kraft- highly doubt they make their own. I wasn't a fan of the shrimp or the jalapeno poppers in the appetizer platter, but they did a good job on the chicken strips, mozzarella sticks, and onion rings. read more

This place was sold and the new owners & managers are awful. The food & prices changed immediately and they fired all of their staff. We were devastated that they ruined such a great tradition by our Lakehouse. We tried to like it but they can't even cook a piece of fish right. The coleslaw was literally mayo and cabbage. No joke! No salad bar at all anymore. And the pizza... No flavor and cooked either too much or too little. Ugh,you people ruined the famous pizza. I guess karma hit them fast. read more

Everything was cooked perfectly and tasted great! The cook was 'on point'. The ingredients used were good quality, as well. Tasty! So I have ate here about 10+ times. This is by my parents cottage and there is not much else around. It's not good and I honestly hate to leave a bad review but it does suck. The food is edible but nothing to rave over. The last time I went I asked for lemons (since the specials were fish and it's not uncommon to put lemon on fish) I was handed lemon juice packets........that's pretty much when I decided I will TRY to find something else. We passed this bar for 20 + years as we would travel back and forth on 115. One night stopped for burger and beer on our way home to Cadillac. Typical bar ambience- pleasant bartend - never seems to be too busy (at least during our visits) - beer ok- but the "deal" is the chicken frajita- definitely a value meal - even better when they offer the 2fer! We drive by this bar about two times a month and decided to stop and get something to eat. Will not do this again! Very limited menu, not the one posted. We ordered the Thursday pizza special, finally received it one hour and forty five minutes later. I have to say it ranks right up there as one of the worst pizza's EVER. The crust was bad, but the strange thing was the cheese, it was like pieces of perforated leather. There was no movement to it, it just lay there looking flat and dead. We couldn't figure out what kind of cheese it was. I think they use cheap frozen pizza's and add your pick of three toppings. We saw other pizza's that were what we supposed not the specials and they had a different crust and stringy cheese when the people took them off the tray. It took over eleven minutes standing at the bar to pay the bill. Oh, by the way don't ask for coffee, if the pot is empty, they don't make any. Two hours was the time spent, what a waste of time and money, it would have been longer if we could have eaten more than two pieces of pizza. read more
