Extra thin pepperoni with black olives. (Green is also available)

Searching for decent thin crust I relied heavily on word-of-mouth. Since I use Yelp exclusively, I tend to forget that people find using Facebook or Google reviews easier.. I find that tidbit lazy but hey, potato potatoe. Many of the reviews are short and not detailed enough to offer sufficient information. For thin crust, two names popped up; Gaetano's deli & pizza and Mr Vetoes. I would have opted to try Gaetano's since the reference was specific about their thin crust. Also, G's was closer to my location. As in a short 4 minute drive. But, since I was ordering within a group let's just say my thoughts were vetoed! (Bah-dum-tsshh!) cheesy right? Moving on & phoning ahead. I asked if they could enlighten me on their crust offerings. They mentioned a sorta thin option which they could make thinner if requested. They offer double dough (their already thin version x2) and a pan which is considered more of a deep dish with a thick crust. (Since I had already placed an order for thick elsewhere, I had to pause on trying it here. #bummer In MI I'm always on the lookout for what is considered Detroit style.) I requested they make me an extra thin version of their thin. I was pleased with this option being the fact that when I arrived (some 20 minutes later) I watched as a pizza maker thinned out a small pie and ensured its flattening by adding significant pressure as he moved around in a circle. The pie guy was a big dude with big hands. His technique looked legit to me. Note; this is a carry-out kinda location "in the sticks." There are a couple benches outside which in sunny, earlier times, may be a great option. But being that it's summer and the mosquitoes are bitin'.. unless you've got OFF! Deep Woods spray in your trailer.. I'd keep truckin'. They aren't a full service kind of place. It's expected you grab your food and go. If eating on their benches, clean up after yourselves. Inside the shop they offer a wealth of food options. The appearance is so laid back & plain, I'm thinking this is a new concept for them and are still learning how to present. There is hardly any indication of other foods offered. This is where structured decor is a necessity. I'd suggest pictures of fan favorites. Photos captured on the web that are printed and mounted within the shop. It makes ordering easy and gives new customers an idea. A large printed menu posted anywhere, somewhere, would be great as well. Vetoes offers submarine sandwiches (or opt for subs made on garlic bread), salads, Tanzini's (some sorta special bread baked hot and topped with your sandwich ingredients), hamburgers, fries, fried chicken, "dinners", calzones, appetizers, ice cream and handmade desserts as well. At the shop I spoke to someone learned in their abilities that wanted me to note all of these offerings. He spoke about their capabilities & ability to do anything with their pizzas. We're talking specialty variety. Stuff like, BLT, Philly Steak, cheeseburger and then all the typical. Like veggie, Hawaiian, cheese lovers, etc. The final product looked legit to me. Although they offer specialty pies, I'd suggest sticking to a few toppings so that your pie isn't weighed down. The slices were decent and floppy like a smaller or hand tossed NY slice with a puffy sort of crust. Good stuff. If and when I'm back in the area, I'd consider giving them another go. One fella in our group that loves thin crust wasn't very impressed but he was also hoping for something closer to what he loves. I had to remind him, we're in the sticks out here. Their greatest competition is Domino's and Lil' Caesars. Vetoes product is something different and better in my opinion. Me.. I'm easier to please. Vetoes got their dough to a thinner crust for us. It could have been foldable. Once I opened that box, slices flew past me in minutes. If feeding a group, it'd be wise to ask how many slices come with their different sizes. I've included a photo of our pie. Pepperoni with black olives.

Good pizza! Didn't take too long even though they were busy. Came out hot and everyone said we should order from them again.

About 10-15 minutes later, she returned and said she thought she might have forgotten to put in one of our pizzas. We reminded her of the order, she acknowledged it, and said it would just be "a little later." Well -- an hour later, we were still waiting. Our kids were melting down, everyone was starving, and still no pizza. Worse than the delay was the complete lack of communication. When we asked our waitress for an update, her response was: "I have no idea how long." No apology, no sense of urgency. The manager was nowhere to be found -- apparently hiding in the kitchen. At no point did anyone come over to acknowledge the ridiculous wait, apologize sincerely, or offer any kind of compensation. It felt like they were prioritizing takeout orders over people actually dining in the restaurant, which made the experience even more frustrating. When my husband finally complained, we still didn't get much of a response. By the time the food arrived, we were all exhausted and cranky. To be fair, the food was good -- but absolutely not worth the experience. We will not be back. With a little bit of care, communication, and accountability, this could've been handled so much better.
