We'd save money, have food we liked and all would be grand. Then I started thinking about all the things we'd need to buy/bring/clean-up after and my head nearly exploded. So, I hit up Yelp for some suggestions and started looking around for caterers. Boy, am I glad that I did! I sent in an email and was quick contacted by Lauren Dillon. She was friendly, helpful and professional. We talked about what our event was going to be and what we were looking for and settled on a theme for the food. "Fun, non-fussy, easy to eat" was the order of the day. Within a couple of days, I have a proposal for a menu from Lauren. We had some specific food allergies that we need to work around and Lauren/MFS were super accommodating. On the day of our reception, the 2 staff members were prompt and completely set-up by the time we arrived. We literally had nothing to do! And the staff were fabulous. They took care of everything. They boxed up the leftovers as meals which were "donated" to the staff at our venue. I heard nothing but compliments about the food from our guests. While we may have paid a bit more than we would have doing it ourselves, being able to enjoy my reception without having to worry about refreshing trays or trash duty was worth every penny. I would gladly use Made From Scratch again when planning a larger event!

It's piled high with shredded brisket and rib meat, all mixed in their BBQ sauce, then topped with housemade pickles and crispy onion straws on a soft bun. It's messy in the best possible way. Smoky, saucy, savory -- every bite delivered. I made it a combo and added fresh-cut French fries and an Arnold Palmer (half lemonade, half iced tea). The fries came out piping hot and clearly fresh from the fryer -- crispy on the outside, fluffy on the inside. Exactly what you want. The Arnold Palmer was refreshing and balanced, not overly sweet, which paired perfectly with all that BBQ goodness. One thing I really appreciate here is the sauce bar. There's a variety of BBQ sauces available so you can customize every bite to your liking -- sweet, smoky, spicy, tangy -- whatever mood you're in. And bonus: the housemade pickles are free for the asking. If you're a pickle fan like me, that's a win. Again, there was a salt and pepper shaker on the food truck tray one could use. But, aside from the Covid comments above, how would one know that there was no salt on it until one tasted it, necessitating another trip back to the truck to get salt. Tam was extremely patient with me and provided so much guidance. From menu selection to quantities, she helped every step of the way. The day of the event there were a few issues - traffic delays and such that can't be controlled - and she handled all of it like a pro.
