Unfortunately, the food quality was extremely disappointing and well below even basic banquet standards. We were greeted with room-temperature water (no ice) and bowls of wilted lettuce that had clearly been sitting out for too long. The main course included a plain, boiled chicken breast--completely unseasoned and stark white in appearance. The green beans tasted like they came straight from a can and were also unseasoned--no butter, garlic, or anything to improve their flavor. The only redeeming item was the lasagna, which was actually quite good and the only part of the meal I finished. I work in the restaurant industry, and I'm not someone who complains easily. But this meal was unacceptable. For an event honoring student-athletes and their families, more care and attention to quality should have been given. I wasn't expecting gourmet dining, but serving 700 guests such poorly prepared food sends a message: if they don't put in the effort for a high-profile banquet like this, I would seriously reconsider trusting them with a once-in-a-lifetime event like a wedding.

There was a hotel, and a fancy restaurant. I learned a lot, and goofed off a lot. Today, the building has been renovated. No more hotel- athletic offices I think. No big restaurant- a small cafe, where the hotel's front desk was. No more WOSU. It's very clean and new, inside and out. Doesn't look like the auditorium gets used much, and the WOSU end looks empty. Of course, that is my impression from a quick nostalgia visit. They might be busy on weekends. There are conference rooms and meeting areas. Looks like they do catering for events. Hopefully the space is being used enough to keep it going. I saw a few students and staff, on a weekday. I've heard you can park here for events at the Schott. Be careful- all the parking is pay or permit.

The event center itself is so beautiful. They had everything catered from the hors d'oeuvres to the wine bar. The women helped themselves and we stood around mingling and admiring the designs of Sharon Tal. Later we listened to a speech from Sharon Tal and the president of Maskit in Israel, Ruth Dayan. She couldn't be there in person as she was busy celebrating her birthday at 101 years young!! Yes, she does act young for this age, as I viewed a YouTube video of her having a good ole time in the Russian dance club. As a gift Maskit got her a barrel of her favorite alcohol to celebrate her life and legacy of this company. I thoroughly enjoyed this event and learning about how Sharon Tal became a fashion designer from working with the world renowned Alexander McQueen to designed her own outfits for the runway, everything was amazing to see and hear. The facility also doubles as a dance studio and can be rented out for rehearsal space. It was the perfect size for my gathering. Had plenty of space for all of the guests, but was intimate enough to allow all of my guest to socialize. Everything was set up and ready to go when I arrived. All I had to do was lay the food out on the tables and greet my guests.

A venue downtown, that's a bit run down, but it works for the right type of event…read more I've only been here for music. The Be Louder Group hosts shows here, primarily for electronic music. It's easy to get to but there's not really any parking in the area. I know a lot of people that get their cars broken into on the weekends, so I suggest ubering if you can. Once inside the building it looks old. Word on the street is this was an old bank back in the 1920s. There's tile everywhere, the walls could use a paint job, and the bathroom was a wreck. But like I said in the beginning, it fits for the right event, and a rave is just one of them. When you reach the ballroom, you'll find the old vault tucked under a grand staircase. It doesn't really have any of the old vault features but it is what it is. I will say that the lighting is pretty good, and the giant windows are cool. When I've been there they projected the DJs name on the wall, like I see many do for weddings.There's a big chandelier hanging right in the middle with tapestries pulling away from it. It's rather beautiful. I'm interested in seeing this place set up in the daytime or for a wedding but who knows if that would ever happen. If they cleaned up the place a bit I can see it being really lovely.

We went on Sunday for the 4-6 pm session with instructor Hope. Our spots were all ready with our names, easels, and supplies. We put our aprons on and then ordered drinks at the bar. My daughter and I had the Raspberry Bourbon Smash, and the grands chose a virgin cocktail and an iced coffee. They later ordered pizza rolls for a snack. The owner is a very good hostess and bartender. Hope led us through the painting process and she was easy to follow as she painted her own, giving step-by-step instructions. They turned out well and we had such a fun family time. We will definitely be back. The studio is located in the shopping center with Trader Joe's on Sawmill. There is plenty of parking.
