I used Made from Scratch to cater my (awesome) casual wedding reception. Originally, we had planned on simply ordering food, having it delivered and doing it all ourselves. We'd save money, have food we liked and all would be grand. Then I started thinking about all the things we'd need to buy/bring/clean-up after and my head nearly exploded. So, I hit up Yelp for some suggestions and started looking around for caterers. Boy, am I glad that I did! I sent in an email and was quick contacted by Lauren Dillon. She was friendly, helpful and professional. We talked about what our event was going to be and what we were looking for and settled on a theme for the food. "Fun, non-fussy, easy to eat" was the order of the day. Within a couple of days, I have a proposal for a menu from Lauren. We had some specific food allergies that we need to work around and Lauren/MFS were super accommodating. On the day of our reception, the 2 staff members were prompt and completely set-up by the time we arrived. We literally had nothing to do! And the staff were fabulous. They took care of everything. They boxed up the leftovers as meals which were "donated" to the staff at our venue. I heard nothing but compliments about the food from our guests. While we may have paid a bit more than we would have doing it ourselves, being able to enjoy my reception without having to worry about refreshing trays or trash duty was worth every penny. I would gladly use Made From Scratch again when planning a larger event! read more

I used Made From Scratch for a catered event at my workplace, and I was pleased with the service I received. I was overwhelmed with the menu choices, but they put together a menu for me that was exactly what I needed. With Made From Scratch you get more food than you even realize. I booked a heavy hors d'oeuvres reception for 75 people. We actually had about 115 people and there was still a lot of food leftover. I guess that would depend on how hungry your guests are, but even though this reception was at dinner time, it was still more than enough! At delivery time, I was nervous because the driver was about 15 minutes later than I was told and hadn't called me. However, he was able to set up and have everything ready in time despite the fact that the previous session let out early. So my nerves were unwarranted because they obviously built in extra time in case of traffic or whatever. I had tried the honey and Brie grilled cheese at a Yelp event in the brewery district last year, and knew I needed to have that on the menu! It was a big hit with my guests! Other favorites were the prosciutto d'parma grilled asparagus and the chicken numaki with a barbeque glaze. I would definitely order from this caterer again, especially the three items I mentioned. read more

Made From Scratch is the best caterer in my mind. I just had my party last Sunday. I placed my order just two weeks before the party but they paid attention to every details for my party. It was fantastic and the food was really impressive. Lauren Dillon, the saleswoman from MFS was very nice, supportive and professional. Mary and Bobbi were very nice too. All my guests loved the food. My favorite is the fruits and desserts. My husband's favorite is iced lemonade. And the chicken wings and hams are awesome too. And I need to say the rice I ordered from them is one of the best I have ever had (Many of our guests are from Asian). I really feel lucky that I chose MFS for my party! read more

About a year ago, I had a wedding to plan at the Franklin Park Conservatory and I called all of the caterers on the list of accepted vendors. When I spoke to --- at Made From Scratch, I was initially quite interested, as she was very excited and willing to meet up in person instead of sending me details over email. She set up a time to meet up with me at a Borders. In the meantime, --- sent me an email to inquire as to an estimate of number of people and budget. Considering this was my first wedding, I replied with a number, not really knowing the details of how to budget. She immediately called and said it was FAR too low and I would need to re-adjust. I said okay, that wouldn't be a problem-- I just had no clue how much we would be spending yet, as I was unsure as to how many people would be coming. I told her we could go over details at the meeting. So the following Tuesday, at our planned time, I waited at Borders with my fiance... and was stood up. For a good hour, we waited, not really sure if something happened. I called and left a message at her office, concerned that something might have happened. Never heard back. We used Made from Scratch for our Red, White & Boom Party, and were thoroughly satisfied and as thrilled with the food as our guests. Our experience with MFS and Selena Vasquez was excellent. Selena was very responsive to our needs, and ensured that everything was to our order, and delivered on time. Selena confirmed everything promptly in writing, with each change we made. The MFS staff who delivered and set up our food were professional and courteous, and made sure to answer any questions we might have. The food was beautifully displayed and delicious. I recently hired Made from Scratch for a Sunday brunch for 25 out of town guests. Delivery was made on time, 20 minutes before guests arrived. I discovered the three main items were not at all as described--the stuffed French toast was rubbery, the coffee cake was dense and very heavy, and the egg casserole was not at all as described. And so, there I was--guests coming in 20 minutes and I had either an embarrassing array of food or I could send it back and have no food at all. Though Made from Scratch refunded a fair amount of the cost without a problem, it did not really make up for the embarrassment of offering unappetizing food to my guests. read more

I ordered food for Christmas party and had poor service prior to event. Nobody would call me to answer questions-therefore order was incorrect, they did not provide enough food and I had to go to Costco after I picked up my food to buy more food for my party. I contacted immediately and emailed the president. Staff laughed at me saying I didn't understand amount of food. They said they would reimburse me for my order and they never did and I never received a reply back from owner of company when I personally emailed him. Very disappointed and will not stop letting others know how awful my experience was. read more

We wanted to try made from Scratch since the reviews were good. We also loved the first tasting that FP recommended so we wanted to try another to make sure we made the best choice. First of all its so far away in Plain City. Even though it was made from scratch it would have to be reheated by the time it reached the venue. Lauren was very warm and inviting but the food was under whelming. The food was bland and the steak was chewy. My (now husband) and I were both surprised how bad it was. Lauren could tell we were not thrilled and made a comment like this is just to give you a broad idea it gets better than this. I thought that was strange why wouldn't you start with your best foot? Regardless it was so bad we left there and as soon as we were in the car called the first caterer and booked them instead. read more

Be a walk-in as I was and you will see the "true" Made From Scratch. All I wanted was a couple of menus and some brief information. No one was at the front desk. The music was cranked up like some bar. Evidently it was play time. I'm all for having a good time on the job, but these girls were out of hand. One of the voices I could hear was more of a loud shreak - I believe someone called her Salina. Not only was she loud and obnoxious, but she had a mouth on her like a sailor. Completely unprofessional from a company that claims to be classy. I rang the bell, but I guess no one could hear it over the music and over Salina's shreaking. I walked out without the menus! A few weeks later I attended a luncheon where Made From Scratch catered. Let's just say - I'm glad I walked out weeks prior without menus. read more

Catered a private event on May 1, 2017 at the Ohio theater. Did not work with our organizer to ensure common dietary restrictions could be met, and simply didn't care when the person mentioned it. Ham was overlooked, burnt, and dry. Not enough dessert. What a cheapskate caterer. read more

Don't use this company for catering. They'll surprise you with charges on your final invoice after never alerting you to the extra costs. They gave me a line by line proposal for my wedding reception but on the final invoice ended up charging me almost $400 extra for service because their "system was having trouble and did not include all the service personnel in the original proposal." No refund offer was made; no offers were made to try and correct the error. Not to mention they threw in an extra equipment rental fee when I ordered the beverage package, which they failed to mention beforehand. Don't use this company unless you enjoy extra, hidden-until-the-final-invoice charges. read more

I have had the pleasure of sampling their food in the past at several parties and liked it so much I decided to hire them for my daughter's high school graduation party and I am so glad I did. My point person, Lauren Dillon, contacted me immediately and from there made the process painless. The staff was professional and very friendly, the food fantastic and the service excellent. The person we dealt with in planning our dinner was very upbeat and helpful, so we were not expecting the huge disappointment. The food was the worst (dry, fishy salmon, fatty steak and something they called tiramisu that bore absolutely no resemblance to said dessert) The staff was incredibly unprofessional in both appearance and service. They did not have the smallest amount of basic service etiquette. I could write volumes about all the things they did wrong, but suffice it to say - it was so bad we had to call everyone of our guests the next morning to apologize for the the horrible food and embarrassing service. read more

My friend had them cater her wedding out in the country not that long ago and I can't say from this experience that I would have them cater anything for me... while we waited on the bride and groom to finish their pictures we had the chorizo meatballs, vine ripened tomato bruschetta, and smoked chicken crisp. The chorizo meatballs were terrible and each person that came by with them, we warned them not to even try them but they choose to learn for themselves and each one of them regretted it. I love bruschetta but never had it made this way before, it had far too much vinaigrette/dressing for me to take a second bite. I did enjoy the smoked chicken crisp though, it had a nice chipotle aioli with it. Before dinner even started they ran out of refreshments and they brides mother had to get someone to go get more, as stated in the beginning we were in the country and nothing was close to go get drinks so that was inconvenient. When we were ready for dinner we went to the buffet and had a nice salad prepared. Next we had pasta, all stuck together, with three different sauce choices ( marinara, alfredo, and pesto) me and my friends each tried each others different sauces and they were tasty. There were bread sticks to go along with the pasta and they were barely edible, some were burnt, others were okay, but all of them had very hard bottoms. The sides for the pasta were cold roasted zucchini and sauteed mushrooms which were just okay. This is my only experience with Made from Scratch, but I'm someone who always give a place a second chance, so maybe I'll have a better experience next time. read more
