I came upon it today while having a meeting in Landisville and was so impressed that I had to bring my boys after school. The itself park was donated to the Township by the late Amos Herr who was a former high school teacher and coach. His ancestors were among the earliest settlers of Landisville. The new "dream park" was almost completely financed and built by the residents of East Hempfield Township. It took them 11-days to construct the playground and it opened last year. This adorable play area includes a zip line! Here are some of the other amenities: * Soccer and baseball fields * Tennis courts * Bocci court * Basketball * Volleyball courts * Restrooms * Rental Pavilion * Large, grassy fields * Benches * Water Fountain (play area) * Dog Waste Station * There are plans to build a trail.

I had site five, which was by the river, but there is a bit of a hill to climb to get to/from the site, so if you have accessibility issues or a lot of heavy gear, stick to sites one or two. The bathroom situation is only okay. There is a building with flush toilets nearby, but it is only open from 7:30am-9pm each day, and those times aren't set in stone. Other than that, there is one port-a-potty that could stand to be serviced more frequently than is currently scheduled. Each camping site has a water spigot, a picnic table, and a fire pit, but you need to buy firewood off-site; we found some at Lowe's. You are close to a lot of scenic drives through farm country, and we saw a lot of Amish traveling by horse and buggy on our drives. Also nearby is the city of Lancaster, which is beautiful, way bigger than anticipated, and surprisingly had several Puerto Rican restaurants. All in all this park is a great home base for a trip to Lancaster, and the camping facilities are great.

Gave an excellent show for about an hour and a half. Nice large park not a bad seat anywhere. Very family friendly. A lot of families with from babies on up to preteens. Couple of the dads were playing catch with their toddlers off to the side. Great place to have the kids and get up and run around. They're not bothering anybody. You can bring in your own snacks and nonalcoholic beverages. It's all free. Bathrooms are easily accessible. They had two extra porta-johns as well as the already established restroom building, which was very clean by the way. Lots of parking, handicap accessible. They had closer parking for those that needed it. It's relatively easy to get in and out of the park there is a traffic light. Traffic does back up a bit but it's not too bad. We had a great time just sitting and listening to music and enjoying the weather. If you have a chance, check out Longs Park for their free summer concert series.

It's a great place to linger on a nice day. We got to enjoy their summer concert series on a Sunday. This is a very busy park so come early to grab a parking spot. During concerts you can grab food from mobile venues to enjoy throughout the concert. So bring a chair or blanket and enjoy a relaxing night of music. Worth a visit!

The staff at the information center is very friendly and help you decide where you want to walk on the River Trail if you decide to do that. If you start your walk from there, you walk across the railroad tracks and head towards Marietta on the sidewalk for a while until you are closer to the river. She suggested we drive 5 minutes to the next place to park and showed me on a map. They do have bathrooms at the information center. They also have a company that rents kayaks. This is where the boat launch is and trucks with boat trailers have to use the entrance to the water on the right side of the building and park there. On holidays and weekends I'm sure it's very busy so I would park at the lot across the street or at another entrance point. The trail is paved and everyone was friendly. There is a place to eat right across the street from the info center. You can walk or bike the River Trail or just go and sit and have a nice time.

The name Rapho was derived from Raphoe parish in County Donegal, Ireland thanks to the first settlers in the area who were of Scots-Irish decent. When we arrived yesterday evening, I was pleasantly surprised to see such a gorgeous park hidden off Manheim Road. I've driven by Strickler Road many times, but went past without knowing RCP was there. It has to be one of the cleanest parks I've been to, and thanks to the numerous signs posted everywhere--no smoking! Here's what else RCP has to offer: *A really, cool playground--one for the little tots and one for the older kids *Two baseball/softball fields *Soccer Field *Paved Walking Trail - not sure how long it is but I will measure it soon and update this review *Two pavilions constructed with a hemlock post and beam frame, similar to the structure of a barn. All buildings have shamrocks on them. *Large parking lot *Trash cans, recycling containers and dog waste stations *Building that houses restrooms, water fountain, Little Free Library and concession stand *Benches throughout *Several small silo-shaped shade areas *Dog Park is almost finished! Let me tell you something. During this time of Covidiousness, we've certainly done our fair share…read moreof outdoorsy types of things. While coming to a state park like this in York County may not seem like an obvious choice, it's actually been the perfect place. I'm not going to go in to any history or backstory (I covered that in my initial musings several years ago) but what sets this park apart from most PA state parks is its size. While the park is only 85 acres (PA has 121 state parks and some of them clock in at north of 15K acres just for a sense of scope) it's layout allows for things to feel more spread out than you would assume. The main road that wraps around the park is great for walking but there are also two miles of trails which if done in a clockwise direction are actually somewhat challenging with how it'll be mostly uphill. There is also a disc gold course, a rock formation that kids will love to climb on, a few small swing sets placed at different spots and a large open field at the top of hill with one hell of a view towards the Susquehanna River, Wrightsville and Columbia. The best part about this place is that it's rural enough so that it's never too busy. We've made trips to some state parks closer to us (Jacobsburg-Nockamixon-Lehigh Gorge) recently and they have been consistently packed. Here, not so much. The drive here is easy. There is an amazing view. There is usually more than enough space for everyone to spread out and do whatever they want. Sounds perfect to me and we'll be back this weekend.

Samuel S. Lewis State Park does not offer you a bunch of amenities. There's no amazing new…read moreplayground for the kiddies (although there are some swings and such throughout). There's very few short trails around the park (but enough to satisfy my dogs and if you go the "right" way, you get quite a workout hiking uphill). However, what you DO get is gorgeous views of the river and landscape from atop Mt. Pisgah. You also get open space to roam and run around. And my son's favorite part are the rocks! He loves to climb and explore. It's almost possible for me to give any park less than five stars--especially one with such a beautiful view. You won't regret the trip to visit this park. I'm just lucky that it's only 15 minutes from home. P.S. Go read Christopher C.'s review--it's very thorough and well-written.
