In a nutshell, Buc-ees is a 10 out of 10 rest area. Bathrooms were clean, the folks that work there were friendly and helpful, there are tons of gas pumps available as well as food options. I caution you that this is the best rest-stop food I've had ever had but it is in fact rest stop food so the bar is pretty darn low. There is tons of adequate food, lots of coffee and soda options and candy galore. This place is huge so allow for time to roam around. Bottom line if given the option of which rest stop to choose Buc-ees is a good choice. read more

Advisory Warning below! Do not enter this place if cold, hungry, thirsty, or you have an extreme addiction to impulse shopping. This place is like a mixture of a Costco and a 7-11, they have a little bit of everything all packed into a fairly large convenience store setting. From fresh Brisket sandwiches to fresh fudge,cookies and more. Seasonal clothing items from shoes to hats and everything in between. Everything you would find in a convenience store but on a much larger scale and with a multitude of options on every item. We recently traveled from Houston to San Antonio and stopped at 2 different Buc-ees along the way. On a recent trip to Galveston, we stopped on the way back at the Buccees in Katie. It was really crowded and chaotic but it's amazing how smoothly everything runs. They have so many people working there and there are never long lines. Bathrooms were excellent. it says they have the worlds longest car wash but we didn't have time for that. There are also vacuums if you really want to clean your car. Tons of gas pumps and lots of parking make it easy in and out. The prices at Buccees are not cheap but I guess that's to be expected. Living in Texas, I have been to a lot of Buccee's and they never disappoint! read more

Whether I was visiting or residing, much of my time in the Lone Star State has been spent at Buc-ee's. This location in Katy is among the newest (#1) and certainly the largest in this epic gas station chain. It is a must visit for anyone looking for the anything / everything, along with the quintessential Texas experience. This station boasts 120+ gas pumps and feels like it goes on for days to the novice eye. It's as if there are several football fields of gas pumps, most of which are clean, spacious enough for cars to enter through on either side, with a slightly lower than average price by the gallon. They also offer ethanol-free gas, which I've learned is a rarity with the other sister locations. They also have a car wash available, which can be had for a discount if one bundles the payment with the gas. The store is a totally different animal. There's just so much that it really emphasizes the stereotype that *everything is bigger in Texas.* It's nothing like a convenience store and more like a department store that offers just about everything in abundance. This isn't a place for a pitstop, it's a destination. Buc-ee's car wash the world longest! Yesterday I took my Lexus through the car wash as it had been a good 2 weeks since last cleaning, additionally I must of parked under some trees as there was something one the hood. As I entered the car wash I told the attendant that there was something on the hood, he said don't worry my long car wash will take care of it, and it didn't. I purchased the ultimate! So I went back and he told me to go to the bug zone and spray and scrub and he would run my car again thur the longest car wash. As we got back in line and it was our turn to go through the wash, he did something so that the only thing that was done was rinse my car off, there was nothing in the longest car wash except the last station and that was my, car getting rinsed and then dried. I get many places don't allow dogs inside. I was traveling alone and my dog is super attached to me. I went in to get a sandwich and was told I couldn't be inside with my dog. She's super small and I always carry her, usually no one really says anything. A bald employee came up and said I can't have my dog inside. I told the bald guy I was going to be in and out quick. He said okay. Apparently he stood behind me watching me and making me extremely uncomfortable. As soon as I make selection he turns around and leaves. He could've said he was going to stand there. Honestly I've never felt so uncomfortable by someone especially at a bucees. I've been there multiple times and I've always liked going there but that day made me feel not wanting to go back. I love that they have a huge selection of beef jerky, home-made fudge and stacks of freshly made BBQ sandwiches. What's not to love about Buc-ee's? This location meets all the standards expected. The bathrooms were incredibly clean. The brisket smelled heavenly. There was fresh fudge, various jerky, and a great bakery. The grill was running fast and furiously, turning out hamburgers, hotdogs, frito pies, and much more. DO THE TURKEY JERKY!!! Heading back home to Houston from Canyon Lakes, Texas, I had so much fun capturing the various Buc-ee's billboard signs. There were so many good ones, I just couldn't help myself! This was my second visit at this location. The first time was when hubby and I were leaving Houston heading to Canyon Lakes. It was super crowded which made it extremely difficult to enjoy the great Bucee's shopping experience. I don't function too well in massive crowds where people have no respect for others' personal space. Therefore, I didn't get the full experience of what this particular location offers. However, upon our return to Houston, we decided to give it another go and it was a little better this time. It was crowded but not so much to where I couldn't move a muscle. I was actually able to walk around without someone rubbing up against my buttocks. Geez! I discovered that they have miniature shopping carts and hand held shopping baskets. I was so relieved when I looked up and saw the shopping carts ahead of me as hubby and I were walking around struggling to hold our items in our arms. I've never witnessed shopping carts at any of the Buc-ee's that I've ever visited. They have them located in random areas of the store which makes it convenient to just get one. They also have them at the entrance of the store when you walk in, but I didn't take notice due to the fact that I've never seen shopping carts at Buc-ee's. Because it was super dee duper dee crowded during my first visit at this location, I didn't notice the shopping carts at all. I was trying to get the hell up out of there because too many people were swarming around like bumble bees. I guess we need COVID to come back again in order for people to respect other people's personal space. Nevertheless, my absolute goal when stopping at Buc-ee's is for the food. I always enjoy their icees, the pre-made salads, and the fruit cups. Occasionally, I will over indulge and enjoy their brisket sandwiches, breakfast brisket and egg tacos, and the Turkey jerky. My husband favorites are the XXL chopped brisket sandwich, the fried chicken sandwich, the chicken tenders with fries, the turkey jerky, and the breakfast brisket and egg tacos. The food is always hot and fresh no matter what Buc-ee's we visit. Their consistency is what makes them great in my opinion. It's not that it's a massive gas station and convenience store all in one that captures my attention. I love it when an establishment is consistent. The turkey jerky that we purchased was extremely fresh and delicious! Kudos to them for that. Overall, my shopping experience wasn't too bad considering the crowded store. I'm fully aware that they do not have any control over how many people stop to visit the store. However, there should be some kind of maximum capacity rule that they follow because during my first visit, it was scary to see all of those people swarming around like bumble bees. There were children running around like chickens with the heads cut off. Parents were not supervising the little ones at the Icee machine or the coffee machines, which was a total turn-off for me. All I could think about were germs, germs, and more germs. Since this is the Katy location and Katy is pretty popular and massive in population, it would probably make sense for them to hire more workers to assist with insuring that small children are not playing with the icee and coffeee machines, coughing and sneezing all over them. Ewww. In addition to this, the staff wasn't all too friendly and welcoming at this location which was a surprise to me because I've always known the staff to be super friendly and helpful at any Buc-ee's I have visited in the past. The man that assisted us with the Turkey jerky and smoked sausages was not friendly at all and was a bit rude to us. I guess he was having a bad day. I really don't know what his problem was but I'm not concerned. I won't be returning to this location. Don't get me wrong, the food was delicious like all Buc-ee's location and they were fully stocked with millions of trinkets and items to shop for your family and friends. However, it's just too darn crowded for me with loads of unattended children running around coughing and sneezing all over the icee and coffee machines. They really need some type of law and order at this location before something awful happens. Because of this, I rated them three stars. Not a fan for this location. It's too chaotic. My all time favorite one is still the Baytown location and has been for quite some time. It's really huge and gets crowded too, but not so much where people are running into each other accidentally and nearly kissing each other in the face, yuck! It's been decided... if ever driving through Texas, we go to Buc-ee's. We consider this to be a mini-Disneyland, with a fun mascot, cute apparel, tasty food, SO.MANY.SLURPEE.FLAVORS, and just as many toilets to match! LOL There may not be any rides, but there is plenty of fun treats. From prepared foods like pastries, to jerky, to bbq sandwiches, to desserts... to tons of sauces, flavored nuts, so much candy options... if you aren't a kid in a candy store there, I don't know where you would be!! I purchased clothing items from Buc-ee's and needed to exchange or return them. They would not let me exchange them for another item that was more expensive. I had to exchange them for the exact same item, it was the biggest size and did not fit. I could not exchange for the same item. I tried to get a child one and let them keep the difference in price, they wouldn't do that. They do not have dressing rooms. Do not by merchandise unless you can try it on!! Got the sliced brisket sandwich - it was good, but not WOW. I do not need to get it again. Got their snacks and a bunch of souvenirs - again, it was good, but not WOW. Atmosphere - It's an experience that I recommend everyone try at least once. Typically, it is a better option for a pit stop vs. other choices. Clean and well staffed. The "show" is when they take their meat out to cut - it is a must watch, at least once. They also have samples of their snacks; it worked, I bought one or two... Ingress, egress - Not sure if it is the drivers or the logistics fault, but many people were confused driving out of the place. No problems driving, parking, or getting gas, but for some reason both times we visited, I watched people struggle driving to leave. Service - Good Price - $60. As a first time customer, we went a little crazy. We did NOT buy gas, this price is just for snacks and souvenirs. I've always loved Buc-ee's since the first experience last year. Their food, merchandise and even the super clean bathrooms, etc are always the best and a great place for a stop over. However I was dismayed and disappointed at this branch in Katy, TX. My husband and I along with our 2 small dogs had been traveling on the road for about 22hours coming from Maryland to visit family in San Antonio. After using the restroom then looking for my husband and furbabies upon hearing they had been told to leave by a lady worker not sure if she's manager or whatever. My dogs were on a pet stroller carrier, quietly sitting, while my husband was looking for something in the freshener area but told to leave. My husband had asked, why and how come my pets and other locations welcomed people's pets and her response was "well not this location" So that means for people or traveling people who have pets they should leave their pets in the car and knowing that it is summer, it's hot. We cannot leave our pets in the car. I'm just disappointed.I have no words for this location, especially knowing that Buc-ee's is a common stop for travelers.. smh read more

Buc-ee's is a Southeast Texas iconic gas station though the chain has spread into nearby states. The Beaver logo comes from one of the owners, Arch "Beaver" Aplin, and I have seen Buc-ee's tee-shirts in Tokyo, Dubai, Calgary, and Frankfurt. The location caters to travelers and bars commercial trucks. They have perhaps the cleanest restrooms of any gas station. And though gas and a car wash are what draws in visitors, the store is amazing. The deli has unique variants or Tex Mex, Reuben sandwiches, kolache, jerky and sweets. I LOVE THEIR KOLACHES! If you don't live in Texas you are missing out on a unique place to stop. This location is HUGE! 50,000 square feet, has 120 gas pumps, and a huge car wash area. Buc-ee's so much more than a gas station with SUPER CLEAN rest rooms. The whole store is clean! It was like a target but not quite as large but with food to order. Lots of cashiers and not just registers there not being used. All operating which made checking out fast and easy. This Buc'ee's isn't my favorite - because of the stupid airport light thing in the restroom, but they are still clean restrooms at the end of the day. I also want to say this location is a smidge smaller than the one in Bastrop or something about the layout makes it feel smaller, because it has all of the stuff that the Bastrop location seems to have. The one thing I have noticed about this Buc-ee's is that it seems to be treated more as a gas station than a Buc-ee's since you don't see the same amount of weary travelers like you do at other locations. They still have the same good snacks and food, but I prefer the dry snacks more at this location. Don't know why, just do. Maybe, because I'm closer to home at this point? This is definitely the pit stop if you're coming back to Houston. However, if you are leaving Houston for some type of adventure I'd hold off to visit another of the Buc-ee's. read more
