I'm very pleased with my haircut I got tonight. I got beautiful highlights and a very clean looking cut. My husband loves it. I'm not pleased that my $140 highlights, cut, and style was marked up to $190 for products I didn't ask for. I thought maybe it was a full highlight or long hair fees or maybe even master stylist + one of the above. I was very disappointed look more closely at the receipt and see it was $35 for bonder and $15 for toner. I don't even know what bonder is, but at $35 I should have been told. I have healthy hair, a natural blonde base that usually doesn't need toner. If used at all, toner is usually part of the coloring fees. First time I've ever seen it as an additional charge. A $35 mystery bonder product has me confused. I honestly don't even know when this bonder was used or what it is. I would have declined both extra charges. $190 + tip on top of it, the husband does not love. If you go here, get a price quote beforehand. I have to think hard before going back bc I can't afford $200+ hair. read more

This is my first visit with Donnee, she was ready to meet with me immediately when I walked in which was really nice because I had to be out of there at a certain time. She asked what I wanted to do today and I had a general sense of wanting to make my hair darker again, was not opposed to a fun color, and definitely wanted to trim the longer bits of my grown out style. I showed her several pictures, talked about cut and color options and said whatever you think is best...but she insisted that I tell her what other was looking for and said she'd tailor the desired styles to my face shape which is great! Because I have no idea what would look good on me! She was professional and knew specifically what she was going to do after our consult, she even priced out options for me to see what I'd wanted to have done...base color or not...highlights all over or not...etc. She told me what she was going to do and why, like she was going to trim in certain areas to lighten the weight of my hair and give it more body. When I looked in the mirror again after she was done...my first thought was whoa!! I look like a superhero! I need to think of a new name to go with my new hair :) I've always wanted purple hair and kinda went on a whim since I was freaking out about my hair before a business trip. I've gotten nothing but compliments on how pretty the color is!! Love it! I walked in to bubbles because we had planned to get our haircut, my sisters and I. We were assigned to Mimi, and she looked visibly disappointed. When I tell you that I was nervous to get my haircut with her, gosh I was so nervous. She absolutely butchered all of our hair. My sister got horrid bangs, my other sister got a choppy haircut, and I got everything but what I asked for. Honestly it was horrible, a horrible experience. She worked fast as to get rid of us, and just did a very choppy and messy job. My hair is longer on one side, she gave me unwanted side bangs and unwanted layers. She completely messed my hair up. I honestly wish that hair grew faster because this is the worst haircut I have ever gotten. The pricing is also ridiculous. I won't be coming back. I also wanted to add that my shirt was soaked after the shampoo. It's normal for my shirt to get a little wet but my shirt was drenched. read more

I had pretty bad experience here. My hair was severely damaged during highlight service. It's been 6 months since I've gone to Bubbles, but I am still repairing my hair. I will never go back to that place again, and won't recommend it to anyone. First off, Danielle is great and did a good trim and blow dry the first time I went. The second time, I saw a different stylist. My appointment was lost; despite making the appointment and getting a phone call to confirm it, (I verbally answered the phone to say yes, I would be there), when I arrived they "had no record of my appointment" (though I had a confirmation email and phone call). They could fit me in though, which was nice of them. The younger stylist, K., did a blowdry as I requested. (I had made the appointment for a blowdry and had been told the price previously). She asked if I would like a few curls in my hair for body and I agreed. What I wasn't told though is that putting in curls would add $10 to the already pricy $35 for a shampoo and blowdry (even though I didn't get the shampoo part; I had arrived with damp hair fresh from a shower). So when all was said and done I had a very quick blowdry and curl for body (that immediately fell out and my hair looked frizzy a couple hours later) for way more than a nice blow dry bar would cost. It was not worth it and I'm reluctant to return as I felt I was misled with the pricing, nor received a great service. I may return for a trim, but I'd advise anyone to check the pricing before hand and if anything is offered, see if a hidden charge is involved. That said, the salon is in a good location and pretty clean. read more

I'm very picky when it comes to my hair due to previous stylists doing the opposite of what I ask. I've been to this Bubbles location a few times now & see Hilay. She has done an amazing job with my long, thick hair! Even remembered me from past appts-- I only get my hair done a few times a year. Very professional & friendly. Explains what she plans on doing & is upfront with prices. It is pricey, but I am a believer in "you get what you pay for" when it comes to my hair. It was a terrible experience. I do not recommend. I went for a hair consultation a few days ago (hint: consultation) to discuss my hair goals before scheduling my appointment. I spoke with a hair stylist and presented her photographs of the ideas I had for dying my hair. Answer the "usual questions" that your hair stylist will ask in order to learn more about your hair and your goals. I had gone to Sally's the day before going into Bubbles to color my hair, and the stylist was also aware of this information. We scheduled an appointment after gathering all of this information. She never once said, "No, we can't do that." For this appointment, I made plans that necessitate rearranging my personal/work life. I arrive for my appointment only to be told by the hair stylist that they cannot do anything with my hair because I recently colored it. I was furious. I understand that you don't want my hair to turn pink or any other color, but don't all hair stylists go to school and learn the same thing? How come one hair consultation tells me one thing and another tells me something completely different? I've heard that hair stylists can say these things to a client because they don't want to spend hours and hours doing one client's hair because they are compensated based on the number of clients they take at a time. I been a regular client to this salon in the past. I will not be going here again and do not recommend it. read more

I've been going here ever since MiMi moved to this location because she's Been my hairdresser since 2008 -- today (once again because it literally happens all the time -- but it's been 2 mo this since getting a cut!) I had a lady stop me today and say I just love the way your hair is cut.. I was very nervous going here because of the reviews I read of the Potomac Mills mall location, but in the end I decided it was worth the shot. I had a cut, partial highlights, deep conditioning treatment, and blow-out. I was quickly greeted when I arrived and did not have to wait. My stylist Sunshine was ready as soon as I arrived. She offered me a bottled water and was very sweet right off the bat. She asked me what I wanted and really listened to what I had to say. I also must mention that while I was there a few ladies walked in with inquires and I was very impressed with the quality of customer service they received for just being "walk in's". One lady in particular wanted to go platinum blond from brunette and the manager told her exactly how much it would cost as well as the up-keep. Once she realized how much it was going to cost she opted for a different look and color. I thought it was nice for her to be upfront and honest instead of not knowing the charges. Overall, it was a good experience. I didn't feel pressured and I left looking fabulous. I will continue to come here. read more

Today I went to see a stylist named Jess at the Wegman's Bubbles near Potomac Hospital. She helped me figure out the best hair cut for my face and took her time on my hair. I walked away with long layers that bring the life back to my flat hair. Jess cut and styled my mom's hair a few weeks ago and both my mom and I are really happy with Jess' work. My mom and I both paid $30 for a shoulder length cut, wash, and style. The Wegman's Bubbles has a friendlier feel than the Potomac Mills Bubbles does, maybe because natural sunlight streams in through the open windows. read more

I made an appointment for a shampoo and blow out. My appointment was with Aki and after looking at my hair she quoted and showed me a price menu that said a blow out started at $60. And because my hair was beyond my shoulders, I would be charged an additional $10. $70 total for a shampoo and blow out!!! Aki said this was based on corporate pricing but she would speak to her manager about possibly lowering it. She left and came back and then quoted me a price of $45. I walked out because I knew this price was still too much. For $70, I knew I was paying for 2 blow outs. My regular stylist is at Bubbles Fashion Centre and they charge me $35. I have gone to 2 other Bubbles in the DC area and they have also charged me $35 each time for the same service. I don't understand how this Bubbles has a printed menu sheet that says a blow out starts at $60. I now know to not to assume all Bubbles charge the same for the exact same service. ______________________________________________________ BELATED UPDATE: I contacted the corporate office to discuss the pricing issue soon after this happened. However, before being contacted back, I visited another Bubbles salon to pick up some hair products. I discussed the pricing issue with the person who assisted me. He immediately noted that the price I was quoted was for "natural hair." He even laughed at the idea that someone would confuse my hair for "natural hair." (My hair is slightly curly.) By the time, I was contacted by corporate they apologized for the pricing error but, nevertheless, said it was the discretion of the stylist to determine hair texture. This despite having explained that the price menu I was shown did not even list the blowout as the "natural hair" price. She said they were sorry for my bad experience and would send me a $40 gift card. I appreciated the gesture. However, I realize it is best to stick with the Bubbles salon I trust, even if it is a fair distance away. read more

I spent years bouncing from stylist to stylist and driving from Woodbridge to Old Town and DC to get my hair cut and colored in overpriced salons with stylists who couldn't care less about their clients. Since I discovered Crissy at this Bubbles right by home, I haven't looked any further. She always gets my color just right - it's exactly what I want even when I don't even know what I'm looking for. She is amazing at creating depth and layers of color that look natural and gorgeous. The best part is that she really cares about making me look my best and goes above and beyond to make all of her clients happy. Last week, after putting off a visit for far too long, I stopped by to see if she had any time available at the last minute. Even though she was all booked up, she called me the next day and said she was coming in on her day off to take care of me. Once again she gave me a beautiful new color and perfect cut and I couldn't be happier. How nice to not only have a found great stylist, but a great friend! I went into Bubbles hair salon on a Friday afternoon. After a horrible experience attempting to color my own hair (long story short - my roots ended up turning bozo the clown bright red.) I was in need of professional help in correcting what I, somehow mistakenly, screwed up. In comes LAURA B. to save the day! From the moment I sat in her chair I knew she wasn't going to let me down. Laura went above and beyond my expectations. She covered up the horrid fireball red and gave me a beautiful dark/neutral color and an AMAZING cut that I am absolutely IN LOVE with! This girl seriously knows what she's doing and has A TON of experience. I am 31yo guys guy. I have been shaving my head to 1/4" for the last 9 years and recently decided to grow it out to a pompadour. Lacking a barber in the area I was heading to the Wegmans and decided to stop in and try them out. I walked in and was greeted with warmth and professionalism and they asked me to sit for a moment. My barber came out and although I forgot her name she a was a short squat woman of Latino or Hispanic origin. Her station seemed a little bare, no little whisk brush to remove hair, she used the blow dryer, far less equipment then the barber I used to go to years ago which I thought a bit odd but she seemed to know what she was doing. My hair was the same length all over and I asked her to take little to no length off and just style it so I look good while growing it out. I doubt that she quite understood what I asked for. She never asked any pointed questions about what I was looking for style wise, easy or hard to do myself, high or low maintenance, etc. She started with the clippers and trimmed a bit off here and there and ended with scissors. Overall the haircut was not terrible or bad. It seemed like she was a good barber just not adept at styling. I asked specifically for a style and ended up with a shorter version of the hair I came in with. Overall I will not come here again. If you are seeking a simple trim, cut, wash or color I suppose that this would be a great place for you. For the men out there reading this there were several beautiful looking barbers here who had quite fine figures. There were also several barbers there who were overweight, seemed to lack care about their appearance and dress and just looked sloppy. The shop itself seemed to be hastily put together and lacked the quality I was really looking for. This strikes as a low end shop and I would not suggest you go if you prefer a more high end place. read more

I finally had to "break up" with my amazing stylist after 3 years in Fairfax due to traveling over an hour just to get my hair done. So, after researching places in the Woodbridge area, I stumbled upon Bubbles reviews - most of them positive. I called, made an appointment and asked about how much a cut, color (ombre) would cost me. I was quoted about $175. I was welcomed instantly into the busy salon - a good sign: if they are busy with mostly women's hair cut/color, they must be good. My stylist seemed confused when I mentioned to her that I wanted a simple brown ombre. With no cell service in the salon, I couldnt give her an accurate picture of what I wanted, so I tried my best to explain it. After she and I went back and forth on this, she also suggested that I should get some layers - sure. My appointment, scheduled at 1 (I arrived at 12:45) lasted over 3 hours. What I found that the "ombre" was barely noticible and the layers were uttlerly choppy because she only dry cut my hair. What disgusted me even more was that I spent over $200 for this. I can't wait for my hair to grow out. Word to the wise if you have never been here - ask for someone who is good at color and bring a picture so that your communication isn't misinterpreted. I saw several customers within the 3 hours that I was there with very nice cut and color. So, I will give this salon one more shot but with a more experienced stylist. I will first start by saying if you book clients for 10am appointments, you should be OPEN before 10am! Making people stand outside, when it is 20 degrees and snowing, past your opening time (and their appointment times) while your staff is chatting away drinking coffee in clear view is not acceptable. That already throws your stylists off schedule on their appointments for the rest of the day. I went in for what I thought was a pretty simple appointment -- highlight with toner and a cut. My stylist apparently didn't know what toner is because she highlighted my hair and then put full on color over it. I'm no hair industry expert, but I know what toner is, as does pretty much anyone who has ever gotten their hair highlighted, and as should anyone who has a cosmetology license. I had shown the color that I wanted used and what the end result would look like (basically a dark copper highlight in my darker brown hair). What I got was orange blotchy "highlights" which have quickly faded to brassy looking uneven color. Not what I paid $200 for!! The cut was decent, although several inches shorter than we discussed and what she showed me she was doing. All the while, my stylist left me sitting in the chair twiddling my thumbs several times. Then after the 4th or 5th time tells me she has a horrible migraine. Um, why didn't you cancel or have someone else take over? Another stylist was complaining because she was left off the schedule that day (her normal work day) so she kept having to move clients around to different chairs as she was working. Not a well-managed salon. I will definitely NOT be returning for a follow up appointment! I give 2 stars because the place is clean, semi on-par with local prices, and they are open more often than most salons that work Tues-Sat. read more

I went here one day as a last minute, rushed for time hair cut. I was a little skeptical on cheating on my normal hair stylist at another local hair place, but I didn't have much of a choice since this was the last opportunity before my trip to get my hair cut. I went in as a walk in & was instantly greeted and a gentleman named Michael helped me. He was so nice and so fun! He asked me how he would like my hair cut and I asked for his suggestions and he was super helpful and gave me great tips on my hair and hair type. I asked him about a future cut i was planning on getting and he gave me lots of different hairstyles I can play with if I wasn't fully committed in going fully with a short bob. I went there half a week ago and stated what I wanted. Everything was fine in the beginning, but when they started, they started to do things I did not ask for. I asked them to stop but then after a few minutes they'd abruptly do something else that I didn't ask for. It was absurd and costly. I had a friends party I was going to go to where I was meeting them again after a year some after two years and I went there looking ridiculous. When done, I was visibly upset. I hesitated protesting because there were so many people there. I'll never go here again. Two of them also laughed at me towards the end when I was angry and visibly upset. Ok - First of all, I have had my hair styled for many, many, years by a variety of excellent stylists in the DC metro area. I first went to Donnee a few years ago. The drive was about an hour for me so I started looking in my area to see who I could find. I found NOBODY who even came close to the quality of style and color by Donnee! I have blonde hair and a lot of it, so it takes a long time to do my hair and it's easy to burn because it's so light. Everyone I tried out just did OK. Some of them over processed it, some sucked at low lights.... it was terrible trying to find someone new. So now, every 5 weeks I drive an hour away to have Donnee do my color and cut. She is the BEST colorist and will do amazing things to your hair. Donnee is thorough and will always go the extra mile to make your hair look beautiful. I recently posted a photo of my new hair and several stylists I am friends with commented on the great color. One of them said "your colorist did an amazing job" and it's true. I will continue to drive the extra miles to have Donnee do my hair because it's totally worth it. read more

For 1 year & 2 months I haven't cut my hair, trim my hair, or any care treatment at all since my last experience. I was very hesitant and scared to look for a new salon and stylist to trust because I came from South Florida. So I'm doing research and came across Bubbles from Potomac Mills, made an apt and all I had to do was show up the next day. but in my gut feeling I felt like I had to keep searching because I saw the reviews in Potomac Mills Mall wasn't so hot or nice. so I came across to this Bubbles in the stone bridge plaza and was amazed with the customers reviews there and thought I had to cancel the other one and come to this one. I walked in and they immediately greeted me and asked if it was my first, I replied yes. and had me fill out the new members card. then I swept away to be taken care of by the stylist name Sheila. I explained to her what I wanted and showed her a picture of what I wanted. and right away we went to work. as she mixes the highlights and toner not only does she applies it to my hair but she explains and educates what she is putting in m hair and also what shampoo is good for my hair or not. I really appreciated the time she did with me, because it was almost closing time and she still had to cut and blowout my hair. I understand everyone else wanted to go home. but I wanted things to be done correctly. thank god I had a patient boyfriend and instead of waiting in a chair, Sheila didn't mind that he got to sit next to me, and see the process, and include him in our conversations lol. then I was sold some great shampoo and conditioner for my new hair coloring. she tells you straight forward. if you pay a lot of money to get a new hair style, and you like it, then its worth keeping and maintaining! I will be back for the holidays to do my Brazilian keratin treatment! so excited! I'm not giving this 5 stars because it was a little bit hard to find, but if you call them they help you direct to there. And its annoying to see and hear another stylists next to you be on the phone and listen to their personal conversation as if they are in there living room. come on, please leave that to your break time. not when your on the floor. but im definitely coming back! thanx Sheila! :)))) read more

I'm very picky when it comes to a hair stylist. I have long, thick, wavy hair. So it's not always easy to style my hair. I went to another place in Woodbridge and hated my cut. However, after reading great reviews for Hilay at Bubbles in Woodbridge, I decided to give her a try. She is wonderful!!! Very professional, talented and does amazing work. Very happy with my cut and blow dry. Salon is nice and it was such a great experience. Will def be back. Highly recommend Hilay!!! read more

I went to this salon for the first time last week for a haircut. My stylist was friendly, she didn't really talk much (which is fine with me) until the end when she told me I should come back to her to touch up my roots and gave me her card. My stylist almost immediately starting cutting my hair while it was dry. I preferred it to be washed first and cut wet, but she insisted on cutting it dry. I was the paying customer, but she was the expert, so I went with it. Not sure what the point of washing it after the cut is. I wouldn't say I hate the cut, the right length was taken off and I received layers, however it is extremely choppy and just looks sloppy. I know haircuts aren't cheap anymore unless you want to gamble with hair cuttery, but $45 plus a tip is a lot for a simple haircut. With everything mentioned above, I will not return to bubbles and can't say for sure whether or not I'd recommend it to anyone. read more

Horrible place! I will never recommend this place to anybody. Why? First of all, I made an online reservation. When we got there, they told me that I'm not on their reservation list. They thought I made an appointment at a different branch. I am not stupid to book an appointment at a different branch! They did accept us as a walk-in customer. The hair cut was for my daughter. I told the Latina lady named SHEILA to shampoo, cut and blow dry my daughter's hair. She shampooed my daughter's hair for less than 3 minutes and her hair was still dripping. She sat her down and my daughter showed her a photo of a short pixie. She doesn't even know what a short pixie is. The back of my daughter's hair is not even when she was done. Sheesh! She kept asking my daughter if she liked the hair cut. And, just because my daughter's polite, she just said yes even if she didn't like it. I mean, what can she do if we said "No!". The hair was already cut. Then, her next appointment came in and she didn't even remove some of the hair clippings on my daughter. She also pretended to blow dry her hair for not even 30 seconds so she can charge us for blow drying. Really? Secondly, on their website it states that they charge $38 for hair cut, shampoo, blow dry. Maybe just maybe, I read it wrong. I got charged $45 plus excluding her freaking tip. Spent about $55 for a lousy hair cut for my daughter. Thirdly, the moment we entered the salon, it was dirty, disarray and very very loud. I can't even hear my own thoughts. Their payment machine have a broken stylus so you have to use your finger to sign. They are in a Classy area and they cannot even afford to replace the pen or stylus. No class! Let this be a warning to whoever dares try that hair salon. Find a different salon. read more

Yesterday afternoon I was lucky to have some "personal ME time" and decided it was about time for a haircut/color. I called up Bubbles Salon and they were very pleasant. They scheduled me in right away. When I arrived, the receptionist was very friendly and asked if I would like something to drink. When I asked for water, he brought me their spa water (water with lemon in it). Very refreshing! I didn't have to wait too long until my stylist ("Lucy") was ready for me. We discussed my plans for my hair. I told her I wanted to keep the length but trim off split ends and such. I also wanted to go back to my original hair color which is an ashy shade of light brown. When she shared with me their color swatch book, I pointed and asked for the lighter shade of ashy brown. She offered to mix two shades for me (a light/natural brown with the shade I prefered) and I kind of shrugged my shoulders and told her that I trusted her judgment--so long as my hair color would be looking as natural and healthy as possible. When my hair was dry, I could tell it was quite a bit darker than I wanted. I spoke up and told Lucy that it was darker than I thought it would be. I told myself that I would get used to it. I thanked her and went about my business. Throughout the day, I was kind of kicking myself for not fixing it right then and there. So the next morning I decided to call them up and inquire as to their customer satisfaction policy. They scheduled me in right away and put me with the store manager, "Chrissy". I filled out a questionnaire and it was no problem at all. The staff there are all very kind. In fact, when I encountered the Lucy (the beautician who had done my hair the previous day), it wasn't awkward like I would imagined such a scenario would be. She asked me what was wrong and I let her know that I while I think she is fabulous, I really wanted to go lighter and toned to an ashy shade so I wouldn't look 'washed out'. After waiting a few minutes, the manager addressed me and invited me to her station. She offered to use a clarifying shampoo to dull the color a bit. She said that if the end result wasn't to my liking, I could call her back in two weeks for a 're-do'. Sounded like a good plan to me! Throughout the whole process, I kept thinking how phenomenal it was that the staff worked as a team. I had several members helping me which left me unsure who I should tip at the end of my visit. The receptionist was awesome; I had one lady shampoo and condition my hair; another put me under the dryer, and still another offered to bring me my choice of beverage. Talk about service! Suffice to say, I will be going back to this Bubbles in Woodbridge. read more

I needed a hair cut really quickly as I have an on camera interview tomorrow. I made a same day appt and Stephanie did a great job with my hair! I asked her to take off over 6 inches, which is a big change. I was very happy with the results and she was really nice. Once I got home, I realized I really needed my roots fixed and I wanted the cut a little shorter, so they again, got me in right away. Samina did a great job with the highlights and roots and the shorter cut is just perfect! Both of these sylists were great and the salon was clean. I was hesitant to get my hair cut during COVID, but everyone was masked, the salon was clean and everyone was spaced out. I would definitely recommend this salon and those stylists. read more

Terrible cut and color. My hair is not close to the hair color that we discussed and selected TOGETHER even after she colored it a second time in the same appointment. My cut is all over the place with pieces side by side that aren't even close to even. I have short hair so it's extremely noticeable how uneven it is. I selected a "senior designer," but received a hair cut and color similar to what I assume SuperCuts would give. Please spend your money elsewhere. read more

I was helped by someone named Sheila...older Hispanic lady....went in for a special occasion updo...the whole time she complained about my hair being thick and too long for her to work with. She also made a horrible racist remark to me of how women in "some" cultures keep their hair long because of their men? She said to me "I know you're not cutting your hair bcz your bf would kill u"......Wtf The updo was awful! Messy from the back and definitely not what I wanted. All she did was shove 200 Bobby pins in my hair and they all came out the minute my event started. A waste of $75. I think almost everyone there is awful at their job. I regret tipping her too! Terrible customer service. Called yesterday to make a appointment yesterday morning and got one for 2pm. Basically they will take a walk-in ahead of appointment and then they expect the appointment person to wait while they take in a walk in. Ruined my whole afternoon and I ended up going to my important meeting without a cut. Very unprofessional behavior. Have been going there on and off for almost 12 years. Have not been there for a while. Guess they have new people running that place. Management needs to pay close attention to people who are involved in that business now. read more

Hilay is amazing! I just moved to the area and was looking for a change with my hair (aka my first color). When I read her reviews I knew she was who I had to go to. She took the time to discuss what I wanted and helped me make a decision. She spent over an hour doing a balayage in my thick hair. Amazing is an understatement. I freaking love my hair! I highly recommend her for any color and styling needs. She took the time to show me different styling techniques that my new color would work best with. She is amazing!
