    Brisket Chili
    Shannon O.

Solid BBQ. The ribs were meaty, tender, smokey and flavorful. The collards were really good. The mac n cheese was my style it's creamy and delicious, I actually took a bite before I remembered to take the picture. We had a burnt ends appetizer, they're very tasty as well and one of the people in my group said next time they might just get a bowl of those instead of an entree. Probably the only complaint I had was the brisket chili. It was very tasty but a bit too salty. Maybe it was just the day we were there. Next time I'm in the area I'll probably give it another try because it was very good except for the saltiness. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The restaurant itself is pretty spacious. They have a good bit of indoor and outdoor seating and the parking lot is big enough to support the restaurant without any struggles.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]

Darn close to a five star. Based on Yelp! Reviews, we decided to give Bub-Ba-Q a shot. Everyone I. Our group agreed it was a great choice. Prices are very reasonable. Portions are ample. The food is served nice and hot. Heck, even the beer is cold. Sadly, the cokes were a bit flat. Our orders ran the gamut. My wife ordered a stuffed baker. Probably the best stuffed potato I've ever seen. She couldn't finish it, although I tried to help. I ordered the Saturday special-half rack of ribs & 2 sides for $15.00. Seriously? I paid $14 yesterday for a pretzel. My sides were green beans and Cole slaw. The slaw was like KFC and the beans were crisp, not soggy like the ones that soak all day. The ribs were good. I asked for them dry, but I was referring to no sauce. I felt the ribs were slightly dried out. But still very tasty. My son ordered 20 wings for $20. And a side salad. The wings are smoked, then fried. He ordered half naked/half hot. The hot was more mild than hot. I would have preferred the wings to be in the fryer a little longer. I'm sure if he had asked, they would have gladly made them more crispy. My daughter in law ordered half a barbecued chicken with fried okra and creamed corn. The chicken was moist, tasty, and the okra was perfect. Not too thick of a coating. The creamed corn was thick and rich. The grandkids both ordered a combo of ribs & brisket. They must have liked it, we didn't hear peep out of them. And their plates were cleaned! [[HIGHLIGHT]]Bub-Ba-Q is a way better than average bbq joint. It's got character, good food and good service[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]. And for good measure, toss in a nice selection of cold beer on tap.

    Big B with fries

It's been a while since we've been here... only because I've learned a recipe for ribs. But we were really craving so back we came. It did not disappoint! We each ordered the Big B: a brisket sandwich with French fried onions and pepper jack cheese. While the meat portion was enough for me, it wasn't much when one reads "Big". The meat was tender and delicious. The toppings gave it pizazz. At the table there are 4 different homemade sauces to try. I love the sweet! The fries were seasoned and plentiful. The baked beans were to die for: smoky & savory. Our server, Toni, was so friendly and attentive. Loved her!!! [[HIGHLIGHT]]The patio area is spacious and I love the new added mobile screens that protect from the elements but still give that enjoyable and relaxing feel.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]

    Ribs, collards Mac and cheese

It all started here with a $40 smoker, and look at Bu-Ba-Q now! The best ribs I've ever had! Coming to the Jasper location in the north Georgia mountains can't be beat. Everything on the menu is a delight from the platter appetizer with the heavenly fried pickles and pulled pork chimichanga top with Brunswick stew to The delectable ribs, collards and macaroni and cheese. The sweet tea is also perfection. Allison our server was so wonderful and provided a good overview of what to order to finish off the meal we had a blissful slice of Oreo dirt Pie and banana cream pie. These pies are incredible. Fluffy and dense as well as perfectly balanced in sweetness. All made in-house daily! What a treat! You better stop in and find out what all the fuss is about.

    Pork & rib combo

We were staying in Ellijay and this place was recommended. It did not disappointed. Flavor was there!! We started with the Bubba Penos. They weren't as warm as I'd liked them but they were really good. I forgot to take a picture when they first got there but I did manage to get one. I ordered the pork and rib combo with collard greens and French fries. First, the collard greens were real good. The fries.. amazing and the pork was moist and the ribs fall off the bone tender and everything packed full of flavor. My friend got the Bovine Bowl and well there was nothing left. Service was wonderful. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Great place.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]

Well, I really wanted to love it. It's such a cute place with an awesome outside deck that backs up to the woods and it's covered. We ordered the full rack of ribs, Mac n cheese & coleslaw. Our order came out super fast and the service was great however, I didn't enjoy the meal much. The ribs were kinda slim, fatty and the actual meaty parts were so dry it was like eating jerky. Sauces tasted great although very runny. The max n cheese(that was the #1 recommended by our waitress) was horrible! It was like Velveeta with a few pieces of soggy pasta. The coleslaw was pretty good except I don't really like it minced quite so much. Super sad this isn't as good as Biguns down the road.

Combo with ribs, brisket and collards.

Boy, did this place fall off. We used to live in Jasper 5+ years ago and used to enjoy Buffalo…read moreLuke's. We ordered two tender meals for pickup in November 2025 on our way through the area. Got home and the tenders were TINY (first photo). Considering two 4-piece tender meals were $26, we were dissatisfied enough to send an email about it. They were nice enough to give us a $20 voucher that we honestly didn't expect to ever use because we don't live in the area anymore. Nevertheless, we decided to give Buffalo Luke's one more chance since we had the voucher and had to grab a quick meal on our way through the area once more. Ordered online for drive-thru pickup and were once again disappointed We found that they're now charging an extra $1 to have your tenders tossed in a sauce versus on the side? Seems ridiculous but we used to really enjoy their sauce so we paid for one meal to have it tossed and the other meal had it on the side. We got our order and made it to our destination without checking it (mistake on our end again). Opened the meals and neither meal had been tossed and the sauce that was supposed to be on the side was also missing. On top of that, without fail, the tenders were disappointingly small and dry (maybe the sauce that was left out is supposed to help with the dryness?). We'll never be going back here. I've had gas station frozen tenders that were miles better than the last two meals we've had here.

This pains me to review since I really wanted to LOVE this place...and I may still when I order…read moresomething else. Please don't let my thoughts deter you from trying SB and take a look at my other reviews other reviews of BBQ, etc before deciding if my opinion is even valid...lots of them out there good, bad, and ugly. There have been a lot of businesses at this location in our 23 years in the area - I had high expectations of SB as a follower on Facebook and word of mouth reviews. My flight schedule unfortunately didn't allow me to try it until yesterday. The Brisket Tacos were highly touted on so I ordered those on the run...the reviews suggested SB had hit a home run with Brisket, North Alabama White Sauce, and Slaw (cheese...meh)...I had high hopes. Positives * Super Friendly - both the Cashier and Chef greeted me and were eager to serve * Clean - from the parking lot to the bathroom it's a place I was comfortable going Negatives * Brisket - COLD, WAY DRY, and WAY TOO SALTY. If i'd had this on it's own I wouldn't have been able to eat it. I actually didn't even eat the last two Tacos. * Slaw - The Cashier made a point to praise it (I'd seen the same thing on FB), but it had no chance to overcome the SALTINESS of the Brisket. It was like it wasn't even there. * Sauce - The "White Sauce" was widely praised, but I honestly couldn't taste it above the Brisket. North Alabama White Sauce was created by Big Bob Gibson for Chicken (and sometimes IMHO) Pork - this sauce never stood a chance against Brisket. Much like the Slaw it was like it wasn't even there. I added some Dukes today and that calmed things down a bit... * Cheese - Shredded Cheese from a Bag on 3 Brisket Tacos for $16 - Sorry, go "Whole Hog" or Taco Bell. It added nothing to the Flavor Profile (I actually hate using that phrase) and was really the only thing that stood a chance against the SALTINESS of the Brisket. Other * Limited Seating - don't expect to "Eat In" unless you want to Tailgate in the Parking Lot (there was a work crew doing just that). I only counted a few stools inside * Limited Hours - catering is their business (I get that as my family owned a Country Store), but 1100-1400 on a few days a week doesn't build a following. Finally * I'm only reviewing the Brisket Tacos here - other options may be much better...Brisket requires a Strong Counter (Sauce, Slaw, etc.) and the Tacos just didn't add up. Other Options may be much better and I hope they are...I will certainly try them based on the reception of the Staff. * I was surprised at the Total when it came up and thought it was an Auto-Tip for To Go Orders...I grew up working a Pull-Register at my Family's Country Store so Totals pop up quickly and something was amiss. Turns out there was a 4% Surcharge added to my Receipt (don't know if that was for the Credit Card or not, but I was never informed)...either raise your prices, blame Biden (lots of blame there...lol), or disclose this up front. Please don't let this review discourage you from trying SB - I will likely go back at some point and try something more traditional - brisket with Red Sauce or maybe the Pork. Go in with your eyes open and understand you're going to get fast, friendly service....just not my style.

I ordered a pulled pork sandwich and a side of baked beans. Anybody with a $50.00 smoker can do decent pulled pork with a little effort so that's my first choice at a new to me restaurant. The pork was maybe a little better than what you get in a can at the grocery store. The baked beans were good but packaged in a styrofoam cup that was maybe 1/2 the size of a usual side order cup(2 ounces?). And the prices were comparable to an Atlanta restaurant. Overpriced and under-delivered. Would not recommend.

The food was fresh, although they'd run out sometimes but the service was great as was the food so it was worth the wait. Popeyes eventually went out of business leaving this the most successful fried chicken joint in the area. Then they sold. Today, the service was good. She said she was new and when she didn't know an answer, she asked the manager. I had the app and asked if there was a rewards program. The manager was abrupt and said "I don't know & I don't know nothing about the app. That ain't us." No one was in the dining room, although there was evidence of patrons by way of crumbs on tables. The steam table didn't have any food in it. It seemed they were maybe short staffed but we received our food relatively quick. The chicken was consistent-hot and fresh. The cole slaw is good, the dirty rice has more sausage in it than we've ever had. Yum! Although the biscuits were flatter than usual, they are flavorful and flaky. The green beans are seasoned with smoked bacon, garlic and red pepper flakes. Delicious! Overall the food was good, the service from the "new employee" was great, from the manager on duty, unprofessional and unwelcoming. On top of that, there were no paper towels in the bathroom & their current health score is 87 or a B. My husband would rate this experience 2.5 and I would rate it 3.5. We'll settle on 3.
