I recently visited Fred's Outdoors to purchase a firearm for the first time in Maryland, having…read moreonly purchased in Florida before. I explained this to the man behind the counter, and he immediately understood my concerns about the differences in laws and procedures. He took the time to walk me through the entire process, answered all of my questions clearly, and remained patient and helpful as I looked at multiple options. The cashier was also friendly and efficient, which made the rest of the experience smooth and hassle-free. That said, I want to acknowledge that months ago, I stopped by to ask some general questions and had a very different experience. The women working the back counter at the time were rude and unhelpful, which left a bad impression. So I understand why some of the negative reviews exist and I'd also be cautious of overly glowing reviews from other users with no review history. In short, Fred's may be hit or miss depending on who helps you, but this visit when I was ready to make a purchase was quick, painless, and left me with no complaints. Based on this latest experience, I will return for additional purchases.

Their rep hit me up right away here on Yelp, and I made the drive a few days later to look into a Cerakote finish for my latest handgun conquest. Pricey for sure but my word does it look like a brand new firearm. I'm taking my wife's P22 there soon to get some fun color but the regular gunmetal finish I got for this Colt really is impressive. Cool little shop too, and I tbh I did enjoy some of the responses from the owner to a handful of digs on this platform too haha. More SBO should be this genuinely engaged. Nice work fellas thanks again.

They had a nice mix of everything from coins to musical instruments. I actually bought a silver dollar graded 69 from 2000 and also bought a nice Mandolin. It wasn't tuned but I can do that. The lady helping me Discounted everything surprisingly and made everything easy to buy. Service was nice, friendly and informative. It made me want to spend money which I did. Again their selection of AR rifles was solid from an LWRC, Daniel Defense to a Smith & Wesson...Handguns were Glock, Sig and Smith & Wesson...I also saw a couple of Colts and Berettas. Nonetheless, I would come here if I were buying a gun. Great little shop and not to far from my aunt. Swing by if you are looking for guns, coins and other Knick knacks!

Last but not least he had the nerve to say to me "I did not mean to confuse you" referring to a simple math equation. However, the first time I tried to use the scope, the sight reticle inside the scope was broken. I took it back within the same week purchased and asked for a replacement or refund. They said it was a warranty issue and I had to deal with the manufacture. I contacted the manufacture, and they said no problem - just return it to where I bought it and they would work with them. I did so, and again got a run around without resolving the problem. So much for good customer service. Ended up going to another reputable gun shop where they gave me a replacement without giving me a hard time and said they would deal with the manufacture.
