My beginnings with BT Properties on EASY STREET (yes, literally!!... of course that's offset by my apartment # 13) in Mountain View, was a bit odd. There was a real sense of urgency I had in finding a place, as my last home owner, whom I rented with, lost her house to the financial bank scams of that era. We had less than two weeks to pack and go our separate ways after 5 years living in perfect harmony up in Redwood Estates. So, Rosemary, the on site manager for the B T Property, showed me the place here in Mountain View and I was ready to sign my life away. I focused on the top option available..a nice single bedroom upstairs overlooking the park. It was green and airy with tennis courts bike path and a jogging course just out behind the sliding glass door and below an open balcony space. Perfect. But because of poor communications between Rosemary and I, it was looking grim. I had no word of acceptance from BT Properties in spite of absolutely writing my ass off in various forms of com unique...email, Voicemail, text, US Post. My mental state went to the bottom level of my emotional roller coaster as a result. The two weeks were just about depleted when I finally got word that there was absolutely no problem getting the apartment I wanted. So it was $1150 per month...quite a jump from the $700 I was paying prior....but my commute became nonexistent since I work one exit away on 101 north of my apartment. Once moved in..I saw there were the normal flaws found in older apartments and there happen to be a very minimal presence of amenities... and I was told I'd at least get my own carport and storage locker. Maybe I should have had it in writing...five years later I don't have one assigned yet. Kinda shaky start...right?... well it actually worked out pretty well following that start... I can't complain too much that the rent was hiked like clockwork each year... Thats what successful business do..make money... I can't expect B T Properties to discourage the big money wealth and temptation from Google and other big profile Mountain View companies in overvalued bids to buy out apartments in the surrounding community... they want to expand their corporate campus- I get it. But I feel the squeeze and the rent KEEPS escalating without added support or remodel or improvement of any kind. We have security camera set up around the facility however they are FAKE or at least very old and non-functional...so theft happens here. It happened to my neighbor last October? His car got ransacked ...when we called Management at BT Properties..they had no interest..call the police was there advice. OH MY GAWD..dont call the police...cuz they don't care either..unless you are the detective and already have the suspect for them. DONT GET ME STARTED THERE! So, just a week prior to this, there was a homeless man using locks on vacant storage cubbies and using them for his own storage... BT P put out a flyer asking us to be aware and report who has which locker and stall. Okay..maybe Im getting off track. The deal is BT Properties, while they have some flaws in areas..they ARE a company that makes big money. They do this by following the same rules as all big business. I cannot fault them...as to WHY I've given 4 stars where perhaps less should be warranted is this: Stand out people who, once made aware of issues, stand UP and make things happen. Rosemary as good for this once we got our communications fixed...Michelle, George and Jim in Maintenace, Chantal L. R. and Teri B. in the offices, but as of late... CINDY has made exceptional points with me. I had a very damaging financial problem arise in 2013 and I wrecked all of my savings. I had no usual buffer in cash saved and the shortened check and unreliable delivery from State D. I. made paying rent on time nearly impossible. Through all that, CINDY took the high road for me..she went out of her way to help me when I faltered. She went to bat for me in times of hardship, so I am emotionally grateful to having her on the B T Properties staff. Its been rough for me, but Cindy has helped me cope, suggesting that I had alternatives to the late pays I'd induced. I was completely embarrassed by my inabilities to make rent reliably after more than 4 years of NEVER missing the pay period. Cindy helped me in many ways and I thank her sincerely. If I were in charge of staff for BT P.... I'd be looking at any possible ability to reward such a valuable asset to the organization. Since I don't have that kind of clout... all I can do is write this semi-split review of services and add at least a STAR or two because of people like Cindy and the other stand up people I've encountered thru my years here on Easy Street. Hopeful that my comments assist others in considering BT Properties as a viable entity when seeking a home, I wish all good luck in finding THE place of your dreams in Google View...ooops, I mean Mountain Book... uuuuhhh huuumm... now I'm REALLY confused. read more
