I tried to stitch my shirt and one strap was longer than the other,making for a very awkward fit. The people at Stitch N' Sew are far superior when it comes to alterations. There's a touch of elegance to the shop layout and decor that reflects the owner's design sensibility, split into a waiting area at the front and back room behind with a fitting room and work space. Kate's clear flair for design is showcased in her range of fabric and leather mix handbags on display, and she has plenty more that aren't on display - they offer good value for a designer good at around 50-60 euros and would make a lovely gift. Though specialising in dress-making and alterations, Kate kindly took on a curtain alteration job for me, transforming a pair of Ikea cotton velvet tab-top curtains into a finished pair of lined curtains with a hidden tab top. She did a fantastic job for a reasonable price. Given Ikea's amazing value (65 euros for nearly six metres of decent quality cotton velvet fabric), this was a very budget-friendly way of creating a striking set of curtains. She's currently on her second slightly more complicated job and I'll report back later on that. I wish her all the best of luck with her new venture - she clearly has real flair and talent and plenty of experience so no doubt it will flourish.

When i brought it into the zip yard and lovely lady helped me out straight away. She told me it would take 2 weeks, (which i expected seeing the beading) but she listened to all my requests and was very helpful. I had to come back one week later for a fitting and i was so happy with the train of the dress. She altered the 5 layers (this sounds like an awful tacky dress!haha) perfectly and understood exactly how i wanted the train. I was very pleased with all the help i was given after i was sent away from two other alteration places prior. It was such a relief when it was finished and even though it wasnt cheap, the finish products looked really well. I would recommend this place when looking for a job done right. This was in 2011.

It wasn't ready they were only starting the suit when I walked into the shop was told to come back in an hour. Really shocking service and wouldnt use again.

This is the worst alterations company I've ever had the displeasure of dealing with. Both the…read moreservice & the customer service were shockingly bad. I left in a dress to have the sleeves removed. I was told they'd remove the sleeves (as requested!) & use the removed material to put in the arm hole as it was revealing my bra. I was quoted a (quite high) price & I paid in advance. When I arrived a few days later to collect the dress, I tried it on & saw that the sleeves had been removed but the arm hole had been increased in size & the excess fabric was just flapping about. Not what we'd discussed! Anyway, I complained, they said they'd fix it & it would cost more. I said I wasn't paying anymore. They said we'd discuss that further. I left & returned 2 days later, tried it on. Arm holes now much much better (even though they didn't match - one was bigger than the other!) But the dress was now gaping at the bust. I was told they'd had to reshape the top of the dress! So they moved the buttons, but the gaping got worse. I complained again. If I'd tried this dress on in a shop I wouldn't buy it, it didn't fit right! After much arguing I eventually got a refund for both the alterations & the cost of my brand new now butchered dress. But I really had to argue for it. And refuse to leave the shop until I was reimbursed. Absolute shambles of a shop. Will never return & have already warned friends from going there. Still makes me angry thinking about it!!
