brought my sons communion suit to be altered a little over a week ago , taken up and taken in , told it would take a week no problem I told her I wouldn't be able to collect it until the saturday of that week so they had a couple of extra days , charged €95 euro then rang to pay it and was tod 135 that I had two jackets in the bag which wasn't true , ended up geting charged the €95 , went today to collect it which is the day I said I would. It wasn't ready they were only starting the suit when I walked into the shop was told to come back in an hour. Really shocking service and wouldnt use again. read more

I had to go in four of five times to get the same simple job done- replacing a zip on a coat. Every time, it detached within one or two days. The staff weren't particular helpful or apologetic about this at any point. read more

Bought a €600 debs dress and Zip Yard Newbridge absolutely butchered the dress. Would not recommend them at all, I went in to get the straps of the dress taken up an inch or two and it was suggested to me to take an inch off the front of the dress so I could walk easier, I had agreed but said do not take anything off the back (gorgeous train on the back). When it was collected the whole inside layer of the train was removed and the dress was ruined, the woman who ran the place was the rudest person I have ever met in my life! She laughed as I cried and pretended that absolutely nothing was cut off the back even after seeing the drastic before and after pictures, worst experience ever if you are around the naas/Newbridge area looking for an alterations place I absolutely recommend Stella Alterations, she saved the day and made my debs possible. Brought a debs dress in to be altered as I couldn't find any other place in my area that would have the dress ready in time as my friend's debs was fast approaching. This isn't the first time I have been to the Zip Yard in Newbridge, Co. Kildare. The last time I was in Zip Yard they had completely ruined the junior bridesmaid dress I was supposed to wear for my aunt's wedding. The junior bridesmaid dress was re-altered 4 times and each time they could never get it right and ruined the dress even more. All the dress needed was to be taken in a little bit because it was too big however, they messed with the bottom of my dress and made it uneven all around, even though we never said we wanted anything to be done and they always took the dress in too much to where it would be too tight on me or took it out too much to where it was too big yet always got my measurements each time and I never gained or lost weight so, I could never understand why they got it wrong. In the end after all the alterations it was still wrong and there was no time to fix it. The lady was always very rude and each time always blamed it on me when it was never my fault to begin with. On the day of the wedding, I was literally sewn into the dress with pins in order for the dress to stay on me properly. This time around, I decided to give them a second chance and all I wanted was the debs dress to be taken up a small bit at the front as it was too long. I had told them that I wanted to keep the train (the train was beautiful and a perfect length) and I only wanted the front taken up. They had informed me the dress would be ready the day before the debs considering I had given the dress to them a week before. They had put me on the urgent list. When I went to collect it, they asked me if I wanted to try on the dress in the fitting room. I agreed however, when I put the dress on not only was the front taken up too much for my liking but, the train I wanted to keep on the dress was completely gone!. I was fuming and since the debs was less than 24 hours away, I again was left with no time to fix it or get the train put back on. When I came out of the fitting room with the dress in hand they asked me how it was, I said I was unhappy with the dress and that I never wanted the train off which I had told them previous to which the manager replied saying that there was nothing they could do due to the train already being removed and refused to refund me my money. Try AVOID this place at all costs. I DO NOT recommend! I would recommend going to Stella Alterations in Naas, Co. Kildare. I had my own debs dress and another dress done in there and each time the dresses were perfectly done. read more

I had a zip related emergency today when the zip in my skirt broke at work and ran over to the Zip Yard..... 45 minutes to complete a job my mother could have done in 5!!! They even offered me someone elses clothes to wear so I could go back to work!!!! Slightly shocked by that! And before I'd left the girl on the counter was back playing with her iphone! I went here to get 3 debs dress's altered. I ordered them online and the fit was all wrong. One dress had beading through out it. When i brought it into the zip yard and lovely lady helped me out straight away. She told me it would take 2 weeks, (which i expected seeing the beading) but she listened to all my requests and was very helpful. I had to come back one week later for a fitting and i was so happy with the train of the dress. She altered the 5 layers (this sounds like an awful tacky dress!haha) perfectly and understood exactly how i wanted the train. I was very pleased with all the help i was given after i was sent away from two other alteration places prior. It was such a relief when it was finished and even though it wasnt cheap, the finish products looked really well. I would recommend this place when looking for a job done right. Went to Zipyard Dunlaoire who charged me €50 for a "bra strap" attachment on the back of a debs dress. Asking other alterations shops I was told it should have cost €15. I have tried for 2 months to ask them for a refund which they haven't done. After telling my story to a few friends they piped up and said they feel their alterations were too pricey too. Had one jacket completely worked over last year, sides, sleeves, shoulders, totally done, top to bottom - €70. This year, had another coat just taken in - €70. What's with the massive price hike? Not good to have a huge price jump like that, shouldn't cost so much, there are other places that would take in a coat for c. €30. Granted, these are probably outside the city. I paid €140 to get 4 or 5 shirts altered, two suits alerted, and two minor adjustments, at the Zip Yard on South Anne St. I've been to the store in Nenagh before and only had good expereincs with them, vii. unfortunately not so good here. The manager in the store was very friendly, though the lady who took my measurements and alerted my clothes must either be from Brussels or Berlin, as i have only ever experience such unfriendly and poor customer service in those two cities. When i picked up my clothes, one of the suit pants had two pins still inside it, which i had to dig out myself, while they also forgot to sew back up the inner lining of the sleeves in one of suit jackets. I had to bring the jacket back to fix this obviously, and to be fair they fixed it straight away and apologised. I was given a €10 gift voucher as an apology, which was fair enough, just. It wasn't till after i left that i saw that 'for dry-cleaning only' was hand writing on the voucher. I threw the voucher in the bin, vowed never to return, and to write this review. read more

Conveniently located in the city centre, particularly handy if you work nearby. I had a zip replaced in a dress, though it was quite expensive at €20. I probably would look for a better value alternative, pretty unremarkable alterations shop. Its very cramped inside, so I probably wouldn't feel comfortable changing into something that I want altered, location is more suited to basic alterations. read more

Shockingly poor standard of dry cleaning. I left in one winter coat that is now ruined. A clear lack of knowledge exists of how to care for particular textiles, something one would assume a drycleaning company should be well versed in :( read more

This place is advertising as award winning clothing alteration. The only award they deserve is for incompetence. I had to wait 5 days for my skirt. All I wanted was hem overlock. Takes 10 minutes tops including changing the color of the thread in the machine (I know I've seen it many times before). I have said that I will not be hemming the fabric in any other way (it's a circle pattern and it would crease if I did). I don't know where did they get their overlock machine but it's definitely not what I've seen before. Normally it's 2 mm wide barely noticeable. This monstrosity is at least 5 mm wide and very notorious. They should have informed me they can't do it and not waste my time a few mm of my hem as I will have to have it re-done. Bottom line - do not use them. read more

Paid €50 to get two brand new skirts taken up in the Zip Yard recently. Stupidly I didn't try them on in the store and when I went to collect them they took the receipt off me as it was my collection voucher. When I got home I was devastated to find that both skirts were all different lengths around the bottom, and pretty much unwearable....short on one side, dragging along the floor on the other! I was almost in tears when I tried them on. I really regret not reading the reviews here before I used this service. I've definitely learned my lesson though! read more

Schockingly incapable to do the work I requested, even the most simple (to fix three bottons on a coat!!!!!!). I left 2 coats, 1 to tighten 3 bottons and a second to attach a zip and than to clean this last one. They ruined the coat attaching the zip doing the work by machin (taking probably 5 minutes to do it) showing the stitching from the outside, instead of doing it in the way it was expected, by hand without showing anything from the outside. Bottons were fixed in the wrong way so the other coat was not anymore with the right fit as at the beginning. They cleaned the wrong coat. They unstitch the internal lining in both cloth. The agreed price was very expensive and instead to say sorry they requested the payment. I recommend to anybody to avoid this place if you want to save time, health and your cloths!!!!!!!! read more
