Dr. Barnett is an amazing doctor. I recently saw him for a face rash, mole concerns and balding issues I had been having. I was a little embarrassed going into the appointment with my issues but both him and his staff were so warm and welcoming. After examining me, he explained to me what was going on in simple and thorough terms. It was awesome cause I have doctors that lose me when they try to explain what's going on with my body. He offered solutions and I feel so happy and satisfied with how things have gone and I will absolutely be returning to see him again. 15/10 would recommend seeing Dr. Barnett! read more

Dr. Barnett is my dermatologist and has been successfully treating my plaque psoriasis. He's shown to be a concerned and knowledgeable and caring physician. I had treatment complications due to a liver condition and he has done all he could to help me obtain the correct medications for me and advice on physical therapy too. He always calls to give me the latest information and encouragement. I'm happy to say my condition is now under control and I'm feeling so much better now and my skin condition is back to normal! My daughter has been seeing Dr Barnett off and on for a few years now. He is absoutley wonderful. We have never had an issue with him or his staff. He even tries to throw in a joke or two.. But he has fixed my daughter up on both issues and she is no longer insecure. We will continue to use him even though we dont have that insurance any longer. Couldn't tell you how good Dr. Barnett is because I can't get my daughter in to see him. I had a referral from her pediatrician to have her birth mark looked at since it's going through some big changes and we need to make sure it's not cancer. I first called and was told I had to wait a month until they would take new patients. I waited, then had to wait another month. I called again today and was told the next avail appoint isn't until Nov 26. I've already waited 2 months and now am being told to wait another two. The receptionist is very short on the phone and rude. She had been for all 3 of my calls. Today I started to explain the situation to see if she could recommend somewhere else I could go, but she cut me off and just kept repeating that the next avail appoint wasn't until Nov 26. I'm not an idiot. I understood that the first time she told me. I just wanted to know if she could recommend anyone else. Because of the short/rude receptionist, I will never attend this office and I will highly recommend anyone in my Mom's club and at her school to make the drive to Livermore or Pleasanton. Horrible customer service and the you have wait months if you want to see the dr. Not to mention receptionist is very rude and unprofessional! If you are looking for someone to help you out, give you options or get treated like they actually care about you go else where. Some advice to the dr. I have seen Dermatologists almost my entire life for a variety of skin diseases to include cystic acne, sebaceous cysts, skin cancer and lipomas. Dr. Barnett is as knowledgeable about skin diseases as any Dr. I have ever seen. He has a great sense of humor, bedside manner and always makes me feel at ease no matter what procedure he is performing. I highly recommend him and hope he never retires. read more

This is the first time I ever had to see the dermatologist. Dr. Barnett is very attentive and helpful. Although, I did feel uncomfortable with the receptionist and the medical assistant. I walked in and they saw me come inside. They didn't welcome me or anything. The receptionist didn't seem very helpful and she was pretty rude. I called this morning asking if there was an opening for this morning & the receptionist said "No, no cancellations today." Then I asked if there were any available appointments for this week and she said "Nope! No one cancelled yet! They'll be calling this week to confirm their appointment!" Then I said "oh okay then.." And she said "Okay" & HUNG UP. Worst customer service I have ever received. She didn't take the initiative to even suggest an appointment later in the month or see what day was the next available. I took both my teenagers to see Dr. Barnett, each had a different type of acne issue. He took 2 minutes with them, looked at their face and said they had to get facials at Peaches and Cream by a specific person because she was the best. Can't remember her name because I was so confused, what dermatologist just pushes you out the door telling you to go see another place that by the way doesn't take insurance. No advice, no medication.....nothing! We have since been seen by a different dermatologist who has put them on an acne treatment. read more

My family and friends have been seeing Dr. Barnett for various skin problems for over 20 years. I first heard about Dr. Barnett through friends at work when I needed a dermatologist to check out some suspicious spots on my skin. I remember the first time he saw me he took a hunk of skin from my ear and had it biopsied. It turned out negative, thank God, but a few years later he found what were pre-cancerous little things growing on my left temple. He carefully prescribed the medicine I needed to take and the follow-up treatments and appointments I would need. When my kids were old enough to start their acne phases Dr. Barnett saw my two boys and my daughter. Of course, my daughter followed Dr. Barnett's advice to the letter and my boys didn't. She went to Peaches & Cream and saw the person he recommended. He also provided my daughter with the necessary follow-up care and she is still seeing him as the fight goes on. What I have noted over the years is that when I have an appointment with Dr. Barnett it's as though I'm the only patient he has until we are done with all of my issues and examinations. That's why I don't mind having to wait to see him. I know that he treats all of his patients as though they were the only one he had at that moment and that means time will run over. But when it is your turn you get the same care. I have taken all my children to Dr. Barnett as I said, and gone into the examination room with them. He is always the same pleasant funny guy trying to put you at ease and thoroughly explaining what you have and what he can do to treat you. I know it is hard to get in to see him, but I have found that is always the case when you are trying to see a "good" doctor. They're like "good" auto mechanics pretty soon the word gets around and you can't even get in for an oil change! If you want the best you have to wait for it. read more

Dr Barnett was the complete opposite of all the negative reviews. I'm extremely selective and have been to several derm specialists and for the 1st time I've been able to get superb care. Dr Barnett is super friendly, great bedside manner and genuinely cares about your progress. He's also very honest and straight forward about what is or isn't happening. Waited 2 months for appt, office was dirty, the receptionist had two kids behind the counter, the Doctor and his assistant were fighting in the hall way. I was left in my room for 40 minutes before someone came in. When he did come in his exact words were "What do you want?" I was so shocked I didn't know what to say. He was very rude and told me to deal with my adult ache. I was military for 23 years and when I checked this doc out I liked the fact he was prior military. My mistake! He was by far the most unprofessional doctor I have even seen. I will not return to him. I will make the hour drive out of Tracy to see someone that is professional. read more

never been to a derm before because I'd never had a skin problem until last year (i am 50). had a major flare (i was a mess) with about 15% of my skin involved. he proclaimed i had psoriasis and immediately started me on steroid cream and methotrexate and let me know that once we found the dose that controlled my problem i would take that dose for life. i hoped there might be a better way. maybe i could eat better, exercise more, and get some sun? not things he was prepared to discuss with me. he even laughed when i inquired about light therapy, saying "what do you expect, this is Tracy". so about a week after starting down his methotrexate road i quit taking it and started a hardcore veggie diet, exercise and sun on my own and never went back. since my visit with him I've steadily improved (about 90% better now) and have no doubt based on my life experience that my body will heal itself (if i help it) and taking methotrexate for life is a stupid first resort. i have no problem with drugs as a last resort. so, if you want a quick fix, this is your place and you can rate him 5 stars. read more
