Ice cream the sweet treat that no mere mortal can resist. For me, ice cream comes second to frozen custard, but I'll let that be while I get into my tasty review of Bruster's! Located in a safe section of town with what could only be described as a semi-challenging drive-thru setup, Bruster's has the best frozen treats in town! What's more is the fairly young staff are surprisingly kind, sprinkled with a bit of southern charm, and while eager to take your order, they're lightening quick! To be fair, I usually draw out these reviews to be "cool" but he's it's ice cream, it should be "short and sweet." So with that said I'll try to portray my X-wifes order (not that I care about her, but rather the curious people reading the reviews), my two kids and of course, me! I would say call me "Chilly Willy" for this review but that's not my nickname and I think I'm rambling here, so on with the show. The X-wife got ice cream, she was unimpressed as with life, end of story. See, how quick that was? Now my two daughters will amp up the enthusiasm here. My oldest got the brownie bites blast with CHOCOLATE ice cream. She loved it and I sampled it. I'm not a huge chocolate fiend like her so I found it overkill. My youngest got the birthday cake waffle cone. She downed that thing before brain-freeze could kick in. I declined on the taste as I had a feeling what it would taste like. Kids will be kids. As for the polar bear of the crew, I really wanted a cherry cheesecake blast. Alas they didn't have the ability to make it like I wanted so I settled on an Oreo blast. It was good, but a slight letdown. If I were in a vacuum and craving an Oreo shake it was the best one could get. I guess I'm just griping b/c the option wasn't there. Overall, this IS the icecream shop in the area; notice I'm still saying ice cream. Bruster's has a friendly staff with a reasonable selection and horrible drive-thru especially in busy times. Most families and I'd wager all kids will love it. Stop on by to sooth the sweet tooth in your mouth, just don't forget to brush the chompers! read more

I checked out the current flavors on the Brusters website and ordered it online in advance. I was able to go through the drive thru and pick it up easy peasy. Brusters is our favorite ice cream shop. After grabbing lunch on a Saturday afternoon, stopped at Bruster's for some dessert. It was my first time here, so there were many choices in the menu. It was a hot summer day, so instead of ice cream, I opted for the Mango Dragon Fruit sorbet and it was great! First time at Brusters. I've passed by some of the locations multiple times without stopping in. When we arrived, there was a short line that moved really quickly. I ordered a Heath toffee ice cream in a waffle cone, but hubby's mango dragonfruit sorbet was ready before mine, and I tasted it then changed my mind! It was really creamy, sweet and good. I wouldn't have put sorbet in a cone, but my initial order was ice cream so I left that part of my order as-is. We sat outside and ate our treats, there are several benches beside the building which allow for social distancing. I'd definitely return. read more

This is a real ice cream shop where you order outside at the window. Kilwin's in Birkdale is also good but this ice cream is better at a cheaper price. I enjoy getting ice cream with my son and sitting on the bench. The service is great but the Kids size is super small. Small is the perfect size--not too much, not too little. I've also been into this thing where I don't get any toppings so I can actually taste the ice cream. This works great at Bruster's, which is a good sign. Onions + kraut + mustard match up well on a soft fresh bun but deserve better meats. Use the two-prong spud sticker and keep your fingers clean while eating your crinkle-cuts. Be aware of cars coming up the drive-thru on the left! Two windows to place your order but the other one is usually faster. Ample seating going right, bunch of benches as you pass the coin-op kiddie-go-rounds then three or four tables around back. Friend from Ohio came down and we went out for Ice Cream, she wanted a banana split and they told here that the only way she could get it was to bring her own banana. My husband and I decided to try Bruster's Ice Cream. The Strawbery Ice Cream was not natural. It had no real strawberries in it. It was an artificial strawberry syrup. We knew that it was not genuine when we looked at it. The location for this particular Bruster's, which has merged with Nathan's to serve great hot dogs as well, is great. There is a massive amount of parking, and there are plenty of safe places to walk around in Kenton Place while trying to gulp your frozen dessert down before it melts. I'm not sure if they are continuing this, but they also used to have a classic car show in the Bruster's parking lot, which was mildly entertaining.
