A very nice ice cream spot at the intersection of State Rd 46, a.k.a. E 3rd St and State Rd 446. If you're going north on 446, its a real convenient stop, just go straight into their parking light when the light turns green. We came here on a Sunday afternoon and there was plenty of parking available and only one ahead of us in line to order. Their ice ream is really creamy and smooth. Even better they make their own waffle cones. The smell drifting out of the order window was heavenly! The better half got a waffle cone and loved it. There was a mix up on my order and the staff person was very accommodating and nice. I will stop in here every time I drive by. I do wish there was more out door seating and even tables available, but I do see how small their lot size is. Maybe I'll even go out of my way to get over here and pick up another delicious treat.

I haven't been to a Bruster's ice cream store for almost twenty years and was bribed appropriately by free ice cream. We took home a pint of sugar free ice cream and indulged at the store. This is one of the few stores where they make their ice cream daily. I remember the preschool in Bridgeville going over to watch them make fresh ice cream. And I could taste how fresh the ice cream is. The staff was great and helpful. In the past twenty years they have added an app. Yes there is an app for that! Try them for your dessert pleasure

If you know me, you know how much I love Jiffy Treet, especially the black raspberry ice cream, and I just have to say--Bruster's honestly gives them a run for their money. Their black raspberry ice cream is wonderful. It tastes very fresh and the flavor of the fruit is very strong. The ice cream has a very dense texture and is free of air pockets. The sizes here are quite large. If getting a waffle cone, I would certainly recommend a small if you aren't famished. We started coming here since we got coupons in the mail, and haven't stopped since!

Directly across from where SR 46 heads south to Lake Monroe (SR 446) there is an ice cream shop, so I decided to make a quick stop. They have a walk up window with all the options and flavors posted inside the neighboring windows, so I stood back and reviewed the options. I decided I'd go with a cup instead of one of their cone/waffle bowl options and grab a single scoop of Chocolate Raspberry Truffle ice cream. I was pleased that the scoop was under $3 but also realized that the scoop didn't fill the cup. So, it was the smaller serving size that kept the price so low. The ice cream was soft and just a little melted, but still cold enough that it didn't puddle in the bottom. The amount of raspberry sauce was generous and well distributed throughout the ice cream. There were also some crisp chocolate bits inside the chocolate cream as well. Good flavor, good price, maybe not so appealing to look at since it wasn't as cold as other places I've tried. But it was ice cream and I prefer this rich and creamy option over the low fat places that taste gritty from ice crystals. Review #3120

Honestly, I'm very disappointed about my ice cream today. Last visit, I got the homemade scoops of ice cream but this time, my boyfriend and I both got a blast (which is like a Blizzard). I'm not sure if the ice cream machine just wasn't ready because it was 11 am, but the blast's consistency was more shake like. I got a blast with Oreo and m&m's, but it was more like Oreo ice cream with mini m&m's at the bottom of the 22 oz cup. There were no Oreo cookie chunks, but you could definitely tell that it was Oreo ice cream. The most disappointing part was all the mini m&m's at the bottom. I don't know if it just wasn't mixed well or what. My boyfriend said that all of his cookie dough and Reese's were at the bottom too. He said that he didn't mind that part so much, but the shake-like consistency was what was bothering him. On another note, due to the Covid-19 there are signs saying that people should stand 6 feet apart, and the employees were wearing gloves. I recently worked a couple of days at a restaurant, I wore gloves and a mask; it was awful. The sweat and heat made my masked face and gloved hands break out, so I don't judge anyone for whatever PPE they want to wear.

The hard ice cream is all homemade. I've mostly gotten the cyclones and sundaes with soft serve, but the scoops in my banana split were good. In addition to regular soft serve, they also have Dream DeLite, which is a low glycemic index (diabetic-friendly) yogurt/whey-based soft serve. I like to get this since even the small sizes are pretty big, and the DD feels like a lighter option. By itself, I find the flavor is slightly off from regular vanilla ice cream, but the texture is good, and when it's mixed with different flavors and toppings, I can't really tell the difference. Almost all of the specialty sundaes and cyclones I've tried have hit the spot. My favourites have been the classic banana split sundae, and the mud pie and German chocolate cyclones. The only thing I did not like was the mint Oreo cyclone - the mint flavor was too concentrated and kind of tasted like mint toothpaste (I usually like mint ice cream). The cyclones sometimes aren't blended all the way to the bottom of the cup, but this isn't a big deal. The employees seem to be high school/university students. They're usually friendly and have their operations organized. There are a few other Jiffy Treets locally that I haven't visited, but based on what the other ones put online, this one doesn't have some of the seasonal ice cream flavors or vegan soft serve that some of the other locations advertise.

The vegan flavours are somewhat less interesting than the some of the dairy flavours, but still offers some variety: they always carry vegan vanilla, chocolate, strawberry, and grasshopper. You can also get any of the vegan flavours in your sundae/blizz/whatever, so this is actually a very good place if you can't or don't want to have dairy. Having tried all of the vegan flavours, I thought the chocolate was actually too cloyingly rich and sweet, but I really liked the others. The vegan ice cream is oat-based, which I prefer over the more common coconut. They also have a rotating selection of soup (with a few meat and a few vegetarian or vegan options available at any given time) in what I assume is a bid to stay relevant during the winter. The ice cream is still the main attraction for me at any time of year but the soup is worth getting if you want to make a meal of it, and it's nice to have something healthy to balance out the ice cream. I have tried the cream of asparagus and carrot ginger. The carrot ginger had shredded carrot in it instead of being a totally smooth puree, which I actually really liked. There is also some summery Americana food like hot dogs and mac and cheese, but I haven't tried any of that so I can't comment. The place has lots of seating inside and outside. It seems like they generally get very busy in the evenings but it's usually quieter during the day. The staff have been friendly in my experience. When I ordered a soup and sundae together, they offered to make the sundae and keep it in the fridge for me until I was ready to eat it, which was nice and thoughtful.

Wow! The Chocolate Moose Moved!…read more Who knew? Not me that's for sure! What can I say is that I was desperate for Ice Cream. And not just 'any' Ice Cream' either. But I wanted the ice cream only 'the moose' has. It was one of those moments after 10 pm at night, and I was without wheels, wondering how I was gonna get a little satisfaction for this craving I seem only to have late at night while having no transportation. Ironic, ( kinda like my nose itching every time I get my hands in dishwater). Perhaps you can relate... maybe not. Anyway I am a 'local' here in Bloomington, which is to say I've lived here almost all my life, ( except for those 'lost years' in Indy.... wherever they went.), Where DID they go? Anyway, I sure can remember the Chocolate Moose, as I'm sure many can, where it once stood in its original location at 401 S Walnut Street, in a tiny little A-frame building, which was actually located in a rather inconvenient spot if you think about it, although I doubt that ever affected it's business negatively. To be honest I had thought the Chocolate Moose just went out of business and closed down. This was just what I gathered when I pulled up with my Granddaughter to get Ice Cream as we had done many times before and the place was just... gone... like it never even existed. Was I in the wrong place? I felt lost, betrayed even. , Why didn't anyone tell me? Am I the only one that didn't know they didn't shut down, but simply relocated? And why did no one find this information newsworthy or important enough to mention? this was a part of our lives, for Chrissakes! My kids and I, trips with their gramma when she was still with us, rest her soul... More than that, it's a pice of history, a place of nostalgia, of good memories... how could this have happened ? Well, my friends, as it turns out, 'The Moose' is very much still in business, yeah, it just relocated to a bigger, trendier, commercial space, one of the new things here in Bloomington, new apartments buildings with retail space below , and they are EVERYWHERE! New buildings that is. It bears mentioning I'm not exactly happy about that, but change happens, and they tell me 'change is good', but I've not found any personal evidence of that as yet, I'm not exactly comfortable with 'change', but whatever. I had to do this thing, so I contacted the 'delivery app' people and placed my order, I had to spend $20 to get it delivered so I made sure it was worth it and started it off with one of my personal favorites, the lemon custard, it's quite 'yellow'! And although yellow is not one of my favorite colors, LEMON is one of my favorite flavors, at least as far as Desserts are concerned. It tasted the same as I remember, and I couldn't help wonder why they didn't just keep the old location and 'expand'? But I'm like that, very curious and always wanting answers to random questions no one else concerns themselves with. This could explain the passion I have for writing, for me it's like a 'feeling validator', works better than Therapy in my opinion, but in my opinion, Ice Cream IS THERAPY! And it saves money and is yummy, what is there not to feel good about? But I didn't stop at the Lemon Custard, I decided to also try their 'Latte'. Save your money for Starbucks overpriced, selection, just as good but... well.. overpriced at $6 for a large. So feeling pretty confident I would probably want more ice cream from the moose before I would be getting sufficient transportation, I also added an ever popular 'Banana Split' to my order, struggling with the options of both 'home made' and 'soft serve' but keep in mind you are limited on the 'soft serve' somewhat. There are three (3) choices; chocolate, vanilla, and 'twist'. I opted for a custom concoction which consisted of strawberry, chocolate, and Grasshopper, ( think mint Oreo). For toppings I chose black raspberry, hot fudge, and marshmallow, I think the whip cream and nuts were extra, jus sayin. Keep in mind they also offer 'vegan' ice cream. I'm not sure what this is but I'm guessing it's for those of us that are lactose intolerant, like me. However, this only affects me sometimes so I admit I totally ignore it. I risk it much more than I should, Good thing on this particular occasion my system found my choices agreeable.
