We will not be going back, though, because of one particular vet, the worst one we've ever encountered. Most of the vets we saw there were great. But this one asked us to make an appointment to follow up on our ailing pet, and then simply refused to answer the phone or return messages to allow us to make that appointment. When a week had gone by with crickets, we asked for an appointment with anyone who was available. You can't wait like that with a sick pet. Well, that got him on the phone finally. He said another vet "wouldn't appreciate" having to see us. Oh really? Then pick up the phone!! Then midway through discussing treatment options (again, on a sick animal) he said he "had to go" and hung up on us. We couldn't agree on what treatments he had even said they'd do, and they did one we definitely didn't agree to or discuss. The treatment wasn't the issue, though; the issue was his epically bad, unprofessional attitude. The kicker? He never called to ask us how our potentially dying pet was doing afterwards. Never again.

She pulled up the file quickly and was able to speak knowledgeably about a pet she may not know personally, such really speaks to the entire office's notation habits. She offered to have the doctor look over the notes and call me back with any action items. But as someone who is just watching someone else's beloved animal, I am TERRIFIED I'm doing something wrong as a non cat owner and Sierra not only made me feel so much better, she made me feel like the whole office knows this pet and cares about Fat Kitty's well being. I could not ask for a better customer interaction nor a more pleasant ending from what I was worried was a potentially hazardous experience. Thank you so much!

When we called for an emergency they failed to respond promptly and when they responded the next day they would not see our cat. Our elderly cat is on a long term drug to resolve a chronic condition that was prescribed by Dr Norman before CareVet took over and now they will not extend the prescription. They have eliminated the separation of dogs and cats in the waiting room (which was brilliant). Their staff is no longer the friendly, happy staff that we saw in the past and the vet that gave the last exam did not have any knowledge of the cat's history or did she seem to care. We cannot wait to change vets.

The overwhelming majority of this time was spent waiting in the waiting room or exam room. There did not appear to be a single other patient in the practice while we were there, so I'm perplexed as to why we had to wait this long. When I got home, I reviewed the receipt because I felt the total was higher than the estimate, and I realized they charged us twice for one of the medications. The staff and veterinarian seemed generally friendly/competent, but the wait time, coupled with the billing mistake, is a deal breaker for me. I will not return to this practice.

They work with you, not against you, in the care of your pet. Dr. Ruksznis obviously loves what she does, and I have total confidence in her guidance toward the correct care of my doxiepoo, Little Bear. My only complaint is that I did not find her and her practice sooner. The lives of my two former poodles would have so much benefited from her knowledge and care, instead of having been tossed aside with disinterest by other vet practices in the area. I won't go into detail, or name names, but my 17-and-a-half -year-old suffering poodle, Rachel, deserved a lot more than the dismissal she got from a local vet. The same with my 14-year-old blind and deaf poodle who entered a near-comatose state after I administered the liquid Gabapentin prescribed by another local vet. That was a difficult night, and little Oliver was put down the next day. In Dr. Ruksznis's hands, I have no doubt that both would have fared better. To her, your pet has a name and a personality, rather than being just another animal.

She refused and said we had to come in personally to get the new rx (wanted us to buy it there $$$$$$). They didn't care if my dog recieved his proper medication, just wanted the money. Then my dog needed to have bloodwork done and is a gentle giant, not a mean bone in his body, and she said he would have to come back and wanted me to give him a total of 18 pills, yes 18. to basically knock him out. I refused to give him all 18 and only gave him what his former vet there always prescribed, which was 4 Trazadone at night and 4 that morning. When we took him to his appt. they refused to give him the shot he needed or even try to get his blood because we didn't give him all 18 pills! They expect you to pay 18.00 extra per visit supposedly toward the vet techs education. If we are all paying that much toward their education then maybe they need to go back to school to learn how to quickly and efficiently draw blood from a big ole teddy bear dog that wouldn't hurt a flea. So, I drugged my dog for nothing and now he is home dry heaving coming down off the Trazadone I gave him! The receptionist needs to learn how to smile and greet patients as well.

They asked me what breed he is and how much he ate. The gal who answered the phone went and asked the vet about it. The vet said, since it wasn't a big Alaska crab, it was just one of the little crabs around here, the dogs should be fine; just watch the dog. I feel reassured. I wanted a place that could help me check in on the care of my guinea pig, which a lot of places don't- this place does! I called for an appointment for my piggy Truffle, and they were friendly and set up an appointment for that same day. I was honestly glad to be taken seriously- guinea pigs are just as important as cats and dogs! It's a clean, organized space here with numerous doctors and very friendly staff at the front desk. I've had two vets here, and both have been knowledgeable, friendly, and understanding of all my pet related concerns. When Truffle had an infection, the vet was happy to prescribe him a medication that fit my budget and really did help improve his health. They are also great with pet emergencies. Truffle had a very bad infection, and they were able to see him within an hour. This is super important for stressed pet parents like me! Check ups can be a little pricey, but it's worth it because your pet is getting the best care. I'd recommend this vet's office to anyone. It is great.

It was close to 5PM, so we chose to wait for this clinic to open rather than driving to Portland or Scarborough. We arrived at 4:50 and waited outside the front door, which was locked. The receptionist was manning the desk and repeatedly clearly saw us through the glass doors, including making eye contact with my husband, but never came over to let us in, even though my husband was holding our dachshund, I was holding our three-month-old baby in her car seat, and it was 17 degrees and dark outside. At 4:57 the receptionist disappeared into the back and at 5:02 I finally called, a tech answered, apologized, and she rushed to let us in. As we were walking in, I heard the receptionist complaining, "it's only just 5:00 now." Nope. It was 5 after at that point, but more importantly, who leaves people with a sick dog and a baby out in the cold, especially if you're supposed to be in the animal CARE business?! Fortunately, the tech and the vet we worked with were terrific, and our dog is going to be fine. I really appreciated the tech's compassion and attention to detail, and the vet's candor and patience with questions (and the baby!). When we were checking out, a poor woman was dropping off her deceased bearded dragon for cremation. The receptionist couldn't have cared less. She was cold and dismissive and passed the box containing the body off to the tech carelessly, and loudly said "group cremation," in a completely empty tone, then charged the woman and said, "we're ready for Skippy" without even dismissing the other woman. The tech called out, "I'm sorry for your loss!" from the back as the woman left. My husband saw her crying in her car in the parking lot when he brought our dog out to the car. So, based on my limited experience, I'd say go here for good care, but prepare to be treated like a complete annoyance by the woman at the front desk.

Once my dog died they rushed us out of there and discouraged us from getting testing of cause of death done. I think they were lazy and didn't want to bother with it so quickly talked us out of it/wouldn't tell us how much it would cost. Made us decide without giving us time to think about it. We were talked out of it and now I wish we did it. Shouldn't be discouraging people and rushing them into those kinds of decisions. The vet wouldn't even come in to talk to us to tell us what happened even tho he was right behind the door and had no other patients there and we specifically requested a minute of his time cus he was with dog at death. No excuse for that
