The two metro stops are transfer points to other lines. Note that the pick up and drop off locations at L'Enfant are different. Depending on traffic, the trip can be from 30-60 minutes. Other than not having many stops, this bus is able to take Dulles Toll Road in the express lane. While this is an express bus to Dulles, it is essentially a commuter bus. This, there really isn't a place to put your luggage like the airport buses. If you intend to take the bus to catch a flight, plan accordingly. If major accidents/inclement weather occurs or its rush hour, the arrival time of the bus may vary. If there are people waiting, then the bus operators do their best to fit everyone on board. However, this can lead to people standing for the commute until the last stop. If you are pretty short and the bus is packed, aim to stand near the doors where the poles are or hold on to the headrests of the seats. Otherwise it's painful to hold on to the overhead bars for so long. The fare is $7.50 via SmartTrip card (can be bought at any metro station) or exact change. There is no metro operated vehicle parking at the two metro stations. The parking at Herndon-Monroe is currently free, but I imagine that will change once the silver line station there opens up. Then it will be $4.95. Dulles Airport has its own paid parking. Note that WMATA is considering ending Bus 5a when the silver line metro station at Dulles Airport opens. This is still a proposal and not yet decided upon as of February 2020.

I literally had no complaints! There's something about the signage there, and parking is never an issue. I like the layout as well. It's a good station to park at if you don't want to be right on the tail end of the line that tends to be busier.

The Circulator bus runs in Bethesda Monday through Saturday. Monday through Thursday, it runs 7am…read moreto midnight. Friday, it runs 7am to 2am, and Saturday, it runs 10am to 2am. The drivers are usually friendly- there is one who is slightly cranky- and I've never had an issue getting a seat on the bus. Also, the bus is always clean. According to their website, a bus comes around 10 minutes on average, although I've definitely waited longer, especially late at night. I do wish the hours were a bit longer, and that it ran on Sunday. I also wish that you could track it's location online- a few times, I've slowly meandered around my apartment getting ready, only to leave my apartment and have the Circulator just leaving my stop. Being able to anticipate when it will arrive would save a lot of time. I also wish they would expand the route, including to the Medical Center Metro. But overall, it's a great service and very convenient!

I've been through this station a few times for years going to Rosslyn. The signage makes it very easy to navigate through this station. They have stairs galore (along with escalators), which I appreciate. The station is parallel to Route 7 and within walking distance of office buildings, restaurants, etc.

This metro section of course, is convenient to the busiest part of Northern Virginia. I'll sometimes ride it, to avoid driving in the Tysons area. Yes it is that bad. This station being newer looks nicer. Yet it's still that utilitarian vibe. Having traveled on metro's of other countries, there's no art work or architectural achievements of note. That's kind of sad. Does it work? Yes although delays are quite common. I like this station due to saving me the drive, but otherwise there's nothing screaming excitement about it. This is public transportation, so people watching is available.
