There is also a large overlook where you can sit & enjoy the view. However, the view was a bit frustrating as the entire pond had large amounts of trash surrounding the edges. You can fish here but it is strictly catch & release. Although, other than a large amount of dead snails & fish I'm not sure what you'll find. I realize the pond was low but this should make it all the more easier to maintain. There are at least two trails winding through the woods but it's difficult to tell which path you're on on where to go. The only signage marking the paths are random planks of badly weathered wood with dull red or blue paint. Some are broken and lying at the base of trees, others were attached to trunks but blended in with the bark. Perhaps new signs with bright colors would be more suitable for visitors. The trails are wide dirt paths with very few obstructions, however you might get stuck in the mud if it's damp out...I would not recommend these trails if you're in a wheelchair. Towards the back of the property is an ugly cookie cutter development- such an eye sore! And the trails are littered with broken benches but are very quiet & relaxing. There's even a neat old fireplace and a few pavilions with grills. It also offers a large playground and huge field. I think if the park was cleaned up a bit & things were fixed it would be one I would return to regularly.

Walking in snow was fun and the views were amazing. Really nice picture opportunities. My favorite images being the trees that have roots exposed. I grew up on a large piece of land and always loved watching the small creatures who lived near my house. I feed the animals who live in my backyard now, and I love watching various forms of wildlife frolic in my trees. I've always jokingly said that it would be cool to be able to feed birds from my hand (Cinderella style) but I never knew that would be actually possible. It's a pretty simple process. You go into the nature center, they give you sunflower seeds, and then you patiently and quietly wait with your hand outstretched and full of seeds. I was skeptical at first, but...the chickadees and other birds were quick to scope me out. They'd fly close enough to look at me, briefly make eye contact, and then swoop in for some food. They are so light! And beautiful! And amazingly brave, I think. I know I had a hand full of food, but...I'm a heck of a lot bigger than a chickadee. I had about a dozen birds land on me while I was outside. (and I wasn't out there very long - it was coooollllldd) The highlight was having a bird land on my head! This is a super fun (and free) wintertime thing to do. Chickadee feeding is held from late December through February (weather permitting). It's such a cool experience and totally worth the drive, no matter where you live. (and it's especially fun for the little ones! they can warm up inside by the fire afterwards)

There is one large loop around the main lake, a smaller loop around another lake towards the back, and a trail off the main lake that meanders around the woods for awhile. I came for the annual Trekking Through Autumn, but as a first time visitor I didn't know where the trails were located. There are also many stations of workout equipment set up along the trail which is a nice touch. In the middle of it all is a man-made hill where children bike down in summer and sled down in winter. My only complaint would be that there are no restrooms, geese poop and geese are everywhere, and the lake is a little swampy. Additionally, there is always a little graffiti on the equipment, but that is always addressed.

When you come in for a 1.5-hour tour which costs $5 per person, you get to cuddle and feed the alpacas, learn about their breeding process and really make friends with them if you show them some love. The whole experience is very soothing and fun, and even though we did not attend the yoga sessions, we are still very satisfied for Kim's hospitality and passion. Definitely would recommend this to people of all ages and this is very family friendly.

You're basically driving through industrial areas until you spot a little yellow alpaca sign. Drive down a little gravel road and then you'll be shocked to find a little farm! The owner, Kim, is very nice and extremely passionate about her work. The Alpaca Yoga class is held in the grassy field towards the back of the farm. To encourage the alpacas to visit your mat, Kim will put out buckets of food to encourage interactions. Alpacas are quite funny. I learned they don't like being touched on their head/face but rather their neck and behind! They move quickly and like slow, thoughtful movements. My favorite alpaca was Sadie. She's a cutie girl that is really well-adjusted to people and constantly came over for pets! I loved this little spot and we'll absolutely be back! Animal yoga is oddly relaxing. You don't need to be good at yoga to take an Alpaca Yoga class. Just try! It's really more about the therapeutic benefits of the animal, in my opinion.
