The trail is mainly concrete at the onset, so this can be a little harder on your feet. What I enjoy most, is watching happy dogs, walking the trail with their owners! People are very friendly here and will say hello. This park is connected to a beautiful town, where people are that friendly, so don't be alarmed! On a Sunday afternoon, you will find lots of runners passing you and bicycles too, so just be careful and stay to the right.

Several lakes and ponds. . .in the midst of hilly plains and cascading trees. . .paved running/hiking/biking paths. SAFE. Playgrounds for the kiddies. Pavilions for cookouts. Great spot for dog owners: Dog Park for both large and small dogs. Although, there were many people walking with their dogs on the main path (which is completely fine by me, as long as they clean up any mess). I would recommend to anyone.

There is a long stairway from the main street down to the falls. There are areas to stop and rest, it is a long walk down and back up. The falls are very picturesque and it is worth the trip to see them. The water was running pretty fast during my visit. I am sure other times of the year it is much slower.

The trail starts in Mantua & ends in downtown Garrettsville (just behind the Mill restaurant) , each section is divided into three gravel paths that were former railroad corridors. You will be surrounded by various species of trees, swamps and fields. The second section of the path even looks a little like Nelson Ledges with its beautiful carved stones. But due to the swamps & the Cuyahoga River being almost directly next to these paths, you need a really good bug repellant! And plenty of sun screen as the first section of the path (in Mantua) is very sunny despite all the trees. The only downside is that if you start off in Mantua, the path is directly next to a rubber factory that smells terrible! And you'll also pass a random storage unit facility but the walk is somewhat scenic other than that. I used to walk here every day after work to help maintain my weight, it is very straight and flat for those of you who have difficulty walking...you could probably use a motorized wheelchair if need be without getting stuck. It is also very clean and not a high traffic area. There's also a playground, shelter/pinic area and basketball court near the Mantua Village Park (on East High Street. Garrettsville Villiage Park is on State Route 700 in Hiram Twp.).

I regretted not bringing a stick or hiking poles for the woods but all turned out great. Nice park! I saw in a review someone complained dogs weren't allowed but I think that was just certain trails because several were walking with dogs.

Here you will find tree plaques throughout the trail that inform you about the local species. There is also a number of exercise stations, generous playground, a small fraction of ledges hugging a tiny stream and an adorable butterfly garden! With two trails to choose from, you think it would be impossible to get lost. However, the old carved map is slightly misleading. Whichever trail you decide to explore you'll begin at the same starting point ;straight ahead you'll see a tiny wooden bridge- this path leads you wandering around...you cannot distinct between path & surroundings as nothing is marked. If you avoid this & veer to the right, one trail loops around the park while the other eventually takes you through a series of backyards & a golf course. Each trail is made up of twisting roots & tiny gravel so if you have a decent stroller (avoid the trail with a street name & take the loop only) you should be able to enjoy the park without any hiccups.

The space is set very nicely - with areas for parents to sit that are shady or sunny. The activities are impressive, as the little (big) buildings for the kids to play in really allow for them to use their imaginations to play. Great to see a playground have both the physical activities and imagination type of activities. We really enjoyed it and will return when we're in the area again. The only negative, which doesn't really reduce my rating at all, nor does it keep the kids from having fun, is the fact that some areas do need some repair work. This is why it's important to leave a donation on your way out, if you're able. Hopefully this park can be maintained for years to come!
