The O'Neil Woods loop is a nice shorter moderate hike; good elevation change, some steeper portions and a variety of scenery. Starting at the parking lot and taking the trail at the far end of the lot you will have a fairly easy descent on a wider trail through the woods. After you cross the road you will have some nice views of the river and then the big red barn. Crossing back over the road is a narrower trail with steep switchbacks that will get your blood pumping as you climb about 300 vertical feet. At the top you will stay with the narrow trail through the woods and cross a bridge before completing the loop. Around the parking lot is a number of benches and picnic tables, including a picnic area overlooking a nice little gorge; looks like a very nice place to grab some food or just hang out. O'Neil Woods is not huge, there is just one trail that actually presents a nice challenge. Well worth a visit if you are looking for a shorter hike that will still give you a good workout.

It is not wheelchair friendly or a good choice for small children or elderly hikers. It is a good workout that begins in a large gravel parking lot and follows along and crisscross a stream for 1/2 mile east, you'll see evidence of former storm washouts and erosion. Then the trail follows along some steep uphill climbs through a stand of tall pines into a high meadow, and a short spur trail takes you to a area called "top of the world" with beautiful sunsets and views. The winding, steep trail down will test your boots. When I was preparing for the Appalachian Trail and hikes out west, I used this trail to train and test out gear. Do not attempt bicycles... you'll hurt someone.

It's awesome it's a loop- so it's a one way trail, especially during the pandemic. I don't often have other people coming the opposite way at me. The trail runs near a creek into the forest and into the prairie, and back to the parking lot. There's a decent amount of elevation and it can occasionally get muddy following rains, so hiking boots would be best. It's not a paved trail. There are also no trash cans also the trail, but one at the beginning next to the parking lot. There's also an outhouse there. I never have an issue finding parking either, because it's a fairly big lot. I love Hampton hills and it's one of my go to trails in the area.

Deer Creek Reservoir is a great lake located just West of Berlin Lake, in fact they are just…read moreseparated by a dam, with the water draining from Deer Creek into Berlin Lake. Although Deer Creek is the smaller of the two, it is well worth a visit since it is a great place to paddle or go fishing. The launch is well set up with a cement ramp and a small dock. The lake is limited to electric motors or paddle only. There are several port a potties, a fishing dock, parking lot, and plenty of shoreline benches and tables. I did notice there was a nice hiking trail that led over the bridge by the dam. Did see quite a few people fishing both from the shore and boats. My paddle was excellent, I headed along the dam and then followed the Southern shore which has a nice variety of bays and inlets to explore. The kind of interesting paddling that makes the day really enjoyable. At the North East end you can find the inlet for Deer Creek which will take you through two tunnels under the railroad and the road, which is a cool paddle. I was able to get about 1/2 mile further up the creek before it became too shallow with small rapid, but a great way to cap the paddle. Overall one of the best lake paddles I have experienced in the North East Ohio are, if you are looking for a place to kayak or fish, put Deer Creek Reservoir on your look.

I used to live right next to Brust Park and would go there almost every day and in every season. You can never go wrong. By the parking area is an overlook looking at the Cuyahoga River. Which smells so fresh and clean. Walk the paved path (running along the river) East towards Kent or west towards Cuyahoga Falls/Silver Lake. You can make a left going west and end up in waterworks park, equally as gorgeous. It kind of seems like it's all the same park to me. Going west will also take you past a large pond that people fish in and there is often a blue heron hanging out there. There are many opportunities to get close to the river and many little trails off the beaten path that you can explore. There's always people kayaking. This park is so inspiring and I still make it a point to go out of my way to go here even though I live 30 minutes away now. As far as facilities go, there is a nice bathroom at the entrance and you can find more at waterworks a short way down the path. As far as the other review stating a junkyard exploded I have no idea what that is referring to. The park is scenic and clean, yes it does go behind some houses, but nice ones at that and I never felt that it took away from the experience. Also I don't recall there being ample trash cans for dog waste but I don't have a dog. I know there are at least a few trash cans going west. I wouldnt knock this place just for that though. I hope if you get the chance to enjoy this park that you love it as much as I do.

Wetmore in the Cuyahoga Valley National Park is one of the more interesting areas for hiking or…read morehorseback riding. Located just south of the Kendall Lake area Wetmore can be accessed from the Pine Hollow trailhead or from the Wetmore trailhead on Wetmore Road. Wetmore is a former farm which has been undergoing habitat restoration. The main Wetmore trail is a winding 4 1/2 mile loop through the woods, with plenty of hills, wildflowers and plenty of solitude. Near the east end of the loop the Tabletop Trail provides an alternative that is a bit shorter and less intense. If you want a longer hike with more elevation changes there is the Langes Run Trail that winds its way on the south side of Wetmore Road and provides a couple of stream crossings. The Wetmore trails are well marked and easy to follow, they are mainly packed dirt and stones usually one or two people wide. Since this area was designed as bridal trails the hills can be steep and offer a nice challenge for hikers. Despite being a bridal trail, I have only encountered horses occasionally in the Wetmore areas. Wetmore is a nice area to get in a good hike that is a bit more secluded and wilder. Most of the hike is well shaded and there is a nice variety of experiences as you progress. If you do the whole Wetmore and Langes Run trails you can put together a nice 6 1/2 mile hike with about 500 feet of vertical. About the only highpoint of the hike is a short section of the trails where you are beside a small stream.

We went on a warm, sunny day with no cloud cover, so the fish weren't very active near the surface, but the tranquility more than made up for it. Our depth gauge showed the water ranged from under 2 feet to just over 7 feet as we got closer to the blimp storage area. There were lots of water lilies in bloom, which made the scenery even more stunning. A truly calm and scenic spot--highly recommend!
