Called today because my carfax is reporting an airbag deployment. The airbag was never deployed. I will admit I was upset but the lady I was transferred to was so unbelievably rude when telling me that my insurance is who reports to carfax not them. How am I supposed to know that? Very rude and VERY unprofessional. Will never recommend these people based on that experience alone. Not to mention my front bumper has a messed up paint job from their repair. AVOID. read more

Do not use, for any reason. These people are worst to deal with, to communicate with, there warranty is useless. bumper was put on wrong, and had scratches. they also scratched part of the front while putting the bumper on crooked . the paint on the bumper has a fish on the front center. Some of the worst workmanship I have ever seen, I was told my hood was going to be replaced because it was not repairable, but they tried to repair it anyway and now they're sticking me with a hood with so much filler in it the original body line has disappeared, and looks to be 80 grit sanding marks in the filler that was painted right over, and the response I received was its within industry standards! The manager Rick came up with this,along with his major attitude, and Michelle doesn't seem to know what's going on, which is who told me it couldn't be repaired and would definitely be replaced, something I specifically asked about when looking over the car when dropping it off, I will be picking up the car tomorrow and taking it elsewhere to be repaired again and as I seen in other reviews I will be taking legal action, do yourself a huge favor and go elsewhere, I should have read more

From the beginning of working with them there was nothing but negative things to say. It began with them giving an estimated time when the car will be completed and not communicating during the process that was going to take a month longer than expected. The owner offered to pay my deductible as a way to off set my cost but once he found out my deductible was $1000 he changed his mind and offered me $250 only after negotiating the amount. They then sent the check to the wrong address and when they called to get the correct address the person on the phone hung up on me. Terrible customer service. Terrible communication during the repair. We would not recommend them. The big issue that they don't seem to understand is that communication is a two way St. Our records indicate we contacted them several times through the repair but did not receive communication from them. If they knew they did not have the parts the repair shop should contact the customer to let them know it's gonna take longer than it should. Also as they point out I did have very good insurance which I'm very thankful for but not everyone does. I'm grateful that my insurance company covered the rental car for a month but others may not be so lucky. There are plenty of repair shops in town. I would encourage anyone to go elsewhere. read more

After my poor car was maimed by a red light runner, I took it to Bruce's Body Shop on Midlothian Turnpike. I called, then took them the insurance paperwork and arranged a drop off date. I dropped it off as planned. The estimate was 4 days. I had my car back and looking good on time as promised. read more

I got into a car accident a few months ago and it was the other persons fault. I went in to get a quote for the damage and the guy who did the quote quoted me like $1600. I scheduled an appointment which was months out for December. I went in and the lady who scheduled my appointment said I didn't have an appointment. Thankfully they still took me but it made me upset being that I made an appointment 3 months prior. Then I gave them the quote and the actual amount was like $900. I asked them what all they did to make sure it was all complete and the manager Rick came out and gave me the nastiest look and told me that everything regarding the accident was done. The insurance was paying for it but I asked why the price was so drastically different. He didn't have an answer. I checked the back of the car where the damage was and they left a nick. I called regarding it and the lady sent me over to Rick and he immediately starts GOING OFF on me saying "you told me that the scratches on the side of the car had nothing to do with the accident." which is true.. the scratches on the SIDE. I told him numerous times I was referring to a nick on the back of the car where the hatchback is. he continued to yell at me and curse at me and told me never to call back because I had told him that the side of the vehicle was not due to the accident ... which I stated AGAIN that I was not referring to scratches or the side of my car. but the back of the car where there was a nick left unrepaired. Rick also stated that no scratches where the damage from the current accident or dents were repaired which was not true because all of it was gone when I picked up my car besides the one nick. I think Rick makes up things as he goes along. Very concerned with him and if he's even aware what car was mine at this point. He seemed very disoriented and lost. I called the insurance company and I was told they'd get the money back for the rest of the repairs and I could gladly take it elsewhere. I've never had such poor customer service and Rick, I hope your life gets easier because... if that's the way you handle every interaction I feel bad for you. Nastiest guy I've ever dealt with or spoke to. Even was nasty when I came in and was just picking up my car: every time I asked a question or spoke, he gave me an attitude and was just downright nasty and cursing. The poor girl that works in the front I hope he isn't your direct manager because I'm sure she gets chewed out daily. I'll make sure the news channel gets information on this because the way he spoke to me was absurd. Glad I have witnesses of what was said to me that will speak along with me. Never going back there again and not letting this go until it's broadcasted everywhere. read more

I recently bought a used car from Carvana and one day noticed that the bumper on the right side was hanging off. I was referred to Bruce's by the Hyundai dealership and took my car there. They were able to provide me with an estimate in minutes that I could provide to Carvana, who agreed to cover the cost of the repairs since the car had clearly been in some sort of accident and the bumper had been superglued back onto the frame. They definitely looked out out for me through the entire process. The third party warranty provider, Silver Rock called them about the repair and refused to preorder the part until I dropped my car off, extending the amount of time I would not have my car from 2-5 days. Bruce's called me and were very up front about how Silver Rock didn't care about my rental expense for the extra 3 days I would be without my car. I was able to get Carvana to also cover the cost of the rental and I went ahead and scheduled service with them. Bruce's kept me updated through the whole process and took care of arranging payment through Silver Rock, so I didn't have to worry about that at all. They replaced the bumper and it looks brand new. I couldn't be happier! read more

About 10-15 years ago, Bruce's was one of the best. After they messed up twice on a previous vehicle, I decided to give them one last shot. We had an estimate written up for the repair work after an accident and that estimate was inline with what the insurance company estimated so we booked the repair work. We waited over a month for them to be able to do the work. The old office manager lady, who is probably one of the least pleasant people I've met, asked my to clarify what the insurance company was covering. Once I did, she said they needed to rewrite the estimate. They then proceeded to lower the cost of the repair that the insurance company was paying for and increased the cost of the repair I was paying for. When I asked her why they did that, she got all upset and said they didn't. When I showed her the difference in black and white between their estimates, in the nastiest attitude possible, she said no she could not explain it. read more

Took my van back for the third time after a $3K collision repair job and they still haven't aligned the rear bumper to the quarter panel. But they did manage to scratch the paint on it and didn't bother to tell me or offer to fix it. They also left the rear view camera loose when replacing the rear hatch and the license plate was loose and rattled loudly. Last time I'll take a vehicle there. The manager's explanation: "We're not perfect" was quite the understatement. read more

I was involved in an accident last year, which was not my fault. I did some calling around and decided to get a quote from Bruces on Midlothian. First, when I went in, the guy looked at my car and did some figuring and took pictures, etc. About 10 minutes later, he said, "ok, the estimate is 2200". I don't remember the actual amount, but it was around 2200 or so. Then, I told him that insurance would pay and he kind of got a bit huffy and said, "why didn't you tell me this was an insurance thing..I have to refigure this". Then, he came back and said it would be 1300. I decided to let them do the work. The work itself wasn't bad, but when I picked up the car, I noticed that the inside of the wheelwell was painted WHITE, they hadn't used any protection to keep the spray paint from getting in the wheelwell. This was unacceptable and I pointed this out to the guy when I picked up the car. He tried to convince me that this was normal and that after a while, the dirt would cover the white paint. I told him this was not acceptable and he said, "ok, just bring it back on such and such date and we'll fix it. So, another day out of my life ruined because of their inability to properly paint a car. The work itself wasn't bad, but the paint job wasn't good. You could definitely tell that the car had been repainted in the affected area. The part that really annoyed me was that the guy there tried to convince me that the inside of the wheelwell was supposed to be white. If that were true, why were the other wheelwells black? They also took a day longer than they said and I had the car rental place breathing down my neck, calling me to say that I've had the car too long and they're going to start charging ME for it, rather than the insurance company. Oh, and the business hours of Bruce's are very inconvenient. All in all, I would not recommend this place. read more

Bruce's was easy to work with, provided a quick and fair quote and did an excellent job. My only caveat is it took 2 days longer than quoted, but that may be the norm for the industry b/c the same thing happened to us 5 years ago at Lexus of Richmond. read more

I called to get a quote on painting a mud guard for an Infinity QX56. I bought the factory part from Pearson Infinity on Midlothian Turnpike and all I needed was to have it painted. I could install it myself because it was only 3 Phillips head screws that held it in place. I was told they could not just paint an item. Bruce's informed me that they had to sell you the part and you had to pay them the labor to put it on. That is a rip-off in my opinion. read more

Worse ever! Poor customer service from Manager Rick Hutchin at Bruce body shop on Midlothian Tpke.. I took my care there in October. I waited two weeks because I didn't hear anything. I was told by manager "OH WE JUST REALIZED YOUR grill have to be ordered. I said if I hadn't contacted you all when was I going to be contacted? His response "It slipped through the cracks" No apology or anything. Weeks passed and I called I just got its back ordered. My husband called today December 12th and was told oh it should have been here then I was told Dec 28th it should be here. I believe it was just ordered. I explained this is has been terrible and I have to keep following up. I told I was coming to get my insurance check. He yelled telling me he trying to work with me. Very angry rude and no customer service skills. Clearly he needs anger management and training on how to treat customers. I have to take my car somewhere else after waiting 2 months for a part that have not been ordered or no followups. Not to mention a received a call from him stating my car was ready and I said sir you don't have my car. He called wrong customer so that clearly shows how unorganized they are. My 2006 GMC Denali was in an accident, the repairs were approximately $10,000. The towing company took it to Bruce's at my request because of the TV commercials I have seen. The repair involved under carriage repair with front end damage. Since I picked the GMC up after repairs were suspost to be complete, I have had to return to Bruce's on two occasions for exterior items that were not repaired properly. One was the radio antenna fell off while driving, the other was the front tag holder fell off. Bruce's representative honored the antenna replacement, however he stated the tag holder was from my old bumper and refused the repair. Now I m very concerned the other not visible repairs are done properly. By the way the tag holder that Bruce's had put on was a metal bracket with made in China stamped on it, I went to the local GMC dealer to find out if there was a metal type bracket made for the 2006 model, of course there is not. All these facts don t look good for a body shop that is representing its self as a leader in the industry.
