I got married at the Phoenix Art Museum and chose Bruce Brown Catering as my food vendor. Everything from start to finish was a smooth process. I worked with Susan Brown who is a phenomenal woman. She wears many hats and wears them well. Consistently, I had follow ups and questions and confirmations sent my way so I was always up to date. If there were changes I wanted to be made she would go great lengths and call every vendor in the area to find the item. She honestly is a remarkable person who also gave great advice along the way about the do's and don't's but was never, ever pushy! Additionally, she took care of all my other vendors and kept in communication with them throughout the process. Everything happened on time during the wedding and what a relief that is- thanks to, again, Susan for playing Wedding Coordinator and ensuring things are going accordingly to your itinerary. Just wow! Lastly and probably most importantly- the food. I come from a family that is very snobby about food and quality. I am STILL hearing about how good the food was and I got married one month ago- it is such a honor for the bride and groom to receive these compliments. The foods we chose were as follows: 1. Appetizers- Lamb chops, Jumbo Shrimp, and Bacon Wrapped Cheese Stuffed Dates. I'm not even describing the flavors that were added to these items bc it's extensive (which just adds an elegance overall) 2. Dinner- Cranberry walnut salad, chicken breast w a cream rosemary sauce, Cabernet braised beef short ribs, seasonal roasted vegetables, and my favorite- Gorgonzola Gnocchi. If you're considering a vendor for literally anything, you MUST hire them. Sweet owners, fairly priced, and amazing quality food. After tasting at several caterers, we decided to select Bruce Brown Catering for our wedding. This turned out to be an amazing choice! Between Susan and Bruce the service was outstanding. When we first tasted at their offices, we really enjoyed the food. However, we like things a bit spicy so we wanted to tweak a few things. Bruce was very helpful with recommendations and options. In the end, they came up with a menu that really reflected our tastes. The day of the wedding, they were on time and absolutely professional. The set up was done in a very efficient manner, the food prep was inconspicuous, and the service was attentive. We had opted for a family style dinner with large plates to be passed around by all of our guests. Perhaps a bit unconventional, but it was handled with zero issues. The menu included smoked steak, pasta, chicken, and salad. All very incredibly tasty - especially the smoked steak! The final praises came from our guests. Plated dinner for approximately 80 guests including a handful of dinners that had to be very specific due to allergies. They were very accommodating and made every guest feel special. I don't know how they do it but the food at the wedding was BETTER than when we sampled the menu! They know how an event needs to flow in respect to appetizers, dinner, dessert, etc. We were confined to certain restraints but if you are able to follow their lead, your event should have no issue. I cannot say enough about Bruce Brown Catering. I was fortunate enough to find them through tirelessly researching catering companies for our wedding (2/25/17). I called and talked with Susan for about 30 minutes and I immediately knew that this was the right company for our event. This was our first time hiring caterers and everything was seamless and stress-free from beginning to end. I didn't realize how helpful and hands on both Bruce and Susan would be. Susan and I decided on a menu that worked for us and was within our budget. The tasting was amazing! We had the best time getting to know them and their business and absolutely loved the food! We didn't want to change a thing. What I really loved about everything, was how hands-on they were they day of our wedding. They went above and beyond for set-up and take down. Susan greeted me with a hug and smile right before I went down the aisle with my father, she even fixed my train for me and helped remove my shoes moments before it was time to go. (I was recovering from a broken foot and decided last minute they needed to come off). She was my angel in that moment. When we were taking pictures and our guests were enjoying cocktail hour, I could tell all of our guests were being taken care of. What was even more special, was that one of their staff members, Ana, had a tray of hors d'oeuvres and cocktails for my husband and I. We didn't have to ask for a thing all night! We got married at the Windmill Winery in November 2019. We were fortunate to have the venue approve the use of an outside cater, Bruce Brown Catering. Susan, Bruce, and her staff were amazing to work with throughout the year. To start, we had so much fun during our food tasting a few months before the big day; they made it super special and something to remember through the hecticness of wedding planning, it was a fun little date night for the two of us. The day of I didn't have to worry at all! Susan and her team helped set up the venue including my extensive seating chart for 165 guests. I must admit I am a bit of a control freak, so it was very hard for me to give my trust over to another to make the images in my head come to life. They exceeded my expectations! It was lovely to work with Susan on the details and she and Bruce were on top of things, making what could've been a stressful time so much less stressful! You all truly made our wedding extra special with your dedication, attention to detail, service and patience. From acting as a second planner on the day of (in addition to our planner who was also busy being a bridesmaid) to being flexible and accommodating with our guests' food allergies and finally for helping us cut costs for the extra tables and chairs that we needed, there are no words to express our gratitude. Since the beginning, your communication has been on point and never did we feel like just another wedding to you. I think what sets Bruce Brown Catering apart all the others is how much you care, which really helped ease many of the stressors that can come with planning a wedding. Now let's talk about the food! In addition to yummy hors d'oeuvres, our guests had a selection of a NY strip steak with a red wine sauce, grilled chicken breast with a balsamic reduction, macadamia nut crusted mahi-mahi and finally (my favorite) a vegetable wellington. With 170 people to feed, your team did an amazing job - especially with making sure all the steaks were perfectly cooked, which they were. I've not hired Bruce, but have attended a few events which were catered by his company. Each one had a different theme - casual Hawaiian bbq, cocktail hour - and in each case, the food and service were just smashing. The professionalism of his staff - at the grill, at carving stations, at the bar, at pretty much any point of contact - was just incredible. The host (various relatives) never had to worry about timing, keeping plates full or guests satisfied. I frequently heard other guests commenting about how wonderful everything was. Not one complaint, at least within my earshot - and I am the pessimistic type to listen for those. =) When it is time to cater our own event, I will be calling Bruce. read more

Upon entering our home we were blown away by the transformation of our living & kitchen into this beautiful party set up. (Highly recommend the fruit & cheese extravaganza). I attended an event where Bruce Brown Catering did the food. It was really good! There was an excellent assortment of chilled and grilled fresh veggies, a simple and crisp Cesar salad with tons of croutons. Lasagna that looked good (I didn't have any). But one of my favorite parts of this catering set up was the biodegradable compost-able plastic wear, plates, cups, napkins. I've seen them before and I commend catering companies that use them. On very short notice, less than 24 hours, they catered a small luncheon for us. They not only did everything by phone, they understood and tailored their menu to what we needed. Food was excellent. Unlike other reviewers, I used Bruce Brown Catering for a reception following my grandmother's funeral at Hansen's Desert Hills. The whole process couldn't have run any smoother! I was in contact with Susan from start to finish. She was so kind, helpful, and informative. She replied to all my e-mails quickly. Plenty of menu choices that they were kind enough to taylor down to the small size of my reception. The food was tasty! The drinks were cold. The setting was beautiful. There were small fresh flower bouquets that matched my grandmother's funeral flowers. Susan had asked me what my grandmother's favorite colors were. They were able to provide a lovely pastel pink clothes that didn't look like a baby shower. The young lady(my memory fails me on her name) assigned to our reception was fantastic! She was speedy, unobtrusive and made sure that everything was kept well stocked. I love that she waited until we were actually present to set out the food. It was a hot day and even though we were indoors, in a/c, it really helped preserve the freshness of the food. The food itself was wonderful. Simple cold sandwiches, fresh fruit, cold pasta salad (loved this version), cookies and icy cold beverages. The sandwiches were fresh, not soggy. The veggie sandwich was great! Bruce Brown catered my wedding at the Desert Botanical Garden. Based on the other caterers that were in the running, Bruce Brown was far and above in quality and taste of food. My guests raved that the catering was the best they had ever tasted at a wedding. I felt that for the price, the menu was outstanding and of far greater quality than the price we paid. The only issue was with a matter of professionalism during one interaction, which was quickly rectified when brought to attention. It would have been nice to not have to deal with any sort of frustrations to begin with. However, everything was perfect the day of! The previous reviews seemed like they would understand the concept of customer service, but five minutes in to a phone conversation prove what a horrible mistake it would be to trust them with your time or money. Rather than answer my questions he instead talked over me with details about how he has to cater the up coming governors ball, can't possibly cater my event, and how I should buy a 2500 ticket to the governor's ball instead. Bruce Brown catered a wedding for which I served as the wedding coordinator. As we had all anticipated from a caterer with Bruce's reputation, the food was amazing. For the cocktail hour, the appetizers were excellent, and the fruit and cheese spread was both beautiful and delicious. For dinner, the ribs, chicken, beans and potatoes were all cooked to perfection. But catering is just as much about service and ambiance as it is about food, and this is where Bruce Brown and his team truly exceeded expectations. Flexibility: Sometimes last minute changes in plans need to be made due to weather or other factors. Bruce and his team quickly reacted with solutions to setting reception tables amidst unexpectedly windy conditions, and they did so without complaint and with only the satisfaction of the bridal couple and guests in mind. Staff: Every member of the team was professional, upbeat, cheerful, and very helpful. They arrived on time and stayed until cleanup had been completed. They also packaged up all of the leftovers in a manner that made it easy for the bridal party to take them home. Special Requests: When I asked about special meals that had been requested for specific guests, the catering staff knew exactly what I was referring to and had already set aside the meals. I've dealt with caterer teams in the past that responded to this same question with a "deer in the headlights" look and then had to scramble to put something together. Happily, the complete opposite occurred with Bruce's team. Flowers and Decorations: All of the serving table decorations and flower arrangements provided by Bruce Brown Catering were lovely. The same could not be said for some of the floral arrangements delivered by the wedding florist. To ensure the bride's happiness, the Bruce Brown staff used some of the flowers and decorations they had brought to enhance the dessert table, and they did a beautiful job. OMG! OMG! OMG! Can I say any more? Bruce Brown Catering catered my daughter's wedding at Boojum Tree Hidden Gardens. I had several financial challenges leading up to the wedding and Bruce and Susan couldn't have been more accommodating. They worked with us on every detail. While I didn't want a buffet, (but my pocketbook dictated it), Susan made sure that the buffet was top notch. We had passed hor d'ourves and stations at the cocktail hour and there was literally not one moment when our guests didn't have food. The presentation was exceptional and staff was incredible (actually one of our guests had a heart attack in the parking lot and thanks to one of the staff members who went above and beyond to help, no one was even aware of the commotion - who does that?) Not only did Bruce Brown provide a large quantity of food, but the quality of the food was exceptional The raw seafood station with crab claws, jumbo shrimps, oysters and ceviche - was a HUGE hit and created the WOW factor. We chose Bruce Brown after reading some disturbing reviews on our original caterer and I'm so glad that we made that decision. I called Bruce on Friday to cater a reception for a Monday funeral. He walked me through the various appetizer and drink options and put together a visually appealing and tasty menu. On the morning of the funeral, Bruce and his helper arrived early to get everything prepped for when we finished our memorial service. The food was excellent and satisfying. I had many complements from our guests about the quality and presentation of the food, as well as the excellent service.
