I found "Brows By Kate" via Instagram and spent time researching her work before deciding to take the leap. I realize in hindsight that the pictures that she uses to demonstrate her work are taken immediately after the microblading session (rather than weeks later), so the results are definitely much different in time. Basically her photos are not indicative of ones final results. I specifically told Kate that the reason I was there was to (1). To minimize my brow routine (I didn't want constant maintenance. I didn't want to have to use makeup on them anymore; my brows are pale and sparse naturally and I'd been waxing & getting them henna'd for years). & (2). To bring out my eyes. I also told her that I'm a fitness instructor and am very active (I sweat a lot at work). She assured me that she could accomplish this for me via microblading. I was at their tattoo parlor for five hours (I've since been told by other professionals that that was more than twice as long as it should take). Kate struggled with the template, and I told her when she was finished with the template that I felt the brows were too high above my natural brow line and too pointy. She then assured me that the microblading would be under the thick lines of the template and inside the lines rather than on the line, so it would look better when we were done (I should have followed my gut, but I trusted her instead). What I was left with was 2 very different eyebrows, much higher than my natural brow line, and shaped completely different. It looks terrible. Right away that evening I knew that I was in trouble. I contacted her and she attempted to reassure me that it always looks darker in the beginning, and that by the time they "calmed down" and I came in for the 2nd touch up, I'd be good to go. I wasn't convinced, but it was a bit late at that point to do anything about it (or so I thought; apparently there is something that can be done within 24 hrs after microblading to remove the color, but this was not offered to me). I was very distressed. It wasn't the darkness necessarily that bothered me, just the fact that they were 2 totally different shapes and heights, and the color was so orange looking. Eventually she did refund my money, but would do nothing to help me look better. She tried to blame it on me even though I'd followed her instructions to the letter. She simply texted the forms to me that I had signed (the fine print & extensive forms she had me quickly sign so that we could get working- I should have paid more attention). I'm left with patches of brownish-orange scratches- mangy looking brows- she shaved my natural brows and they are now growing back in patches (below the pink, spotty, scratchy scarred welts of the microblading). It looks awful, and no other microblader will touch me until 6 months out (I have to wait until late summer). To remove the scars via laser would cost hundreds of dollars that I don't have. My daily brow routine takes hours now! And I look ridiculous. Tread lightly and trust your gut if you decide to do this. I thought that Kate was a sweet person, and I SO wanted this to work that I didn't listen to the warning bells going off in my head. She definitely wasn't sweet afterwards! read more
