To our great surprise, we were contacted recently (July 2026) by the dealership and advised that we'd been overcharged for the deductible and Ed Koehn was cutting my wife a check. One might argue that the alignment should have been done with the initial headlamp install, but one cannot argue about the honesty displayed regarding the over charge.

I drove the truck there, twice on US 27, once to make the appointment {Rick saw the master cylinder was full at that time} we talked about just replacing the master cylinder and bleed the brakes} and the second time I went back to get the estimate and the truck was on the hoist with brake fluid all over the floor. "Now I can't get a second opinion". You can't drive the vehicle without brake fluid you have NO brakes at all you can't stop. The photo was taken just before leaving the truck at Ricks auto. When you look at the photo you can see the dark line showing the level of brake fluid. (I took the photo because I had a BRAKE light and ABS light on and the brake fluid was full. There was no fluid leaking, I have never added fluid to the master cylinder since I owned the truck). When I pick the truck up they told me I need new universal joints. When I left there was a LOT of noise in the front that was not there before going to them so I went to Hub tire and they fixed the universal joints. I talked to Rick and he told me the mechanic does not lie. You decide. "Just go to Hub tire first to get your work done, Hub Tire does not lie". Total price 9/5/24 $1796.54

So we called him that day and he said to bring it back next week. We took it back and 4 hours later he called and said "I'm going to need $120 more for the additional diagnostics we have run." We said "No thanks, we will come pick up the car. You didn't fix it as agreed upon last week. " So we picked it up and now the trunk would not open and the interior lights controlling the heat also did not work. Plus the actual heat still did not work. We took it to Auto Surgeon in Lansing and found out that not only were the parts not re-installed correctly but there were also missing parts. Bottom line is......not only does Rick NOT guarantee his work but he is also dirty. Don't trust this guy.

Everyone was polite from start to finish, I had a nice conversation with the dealerships owner. Cher my salesperson was a joy to work with during the process. They were waiting on me to arrive and Cher met me outside with the keys for the vehicle that I wanted so that I could take it for a test drive. I have purchased a lot of vehicles in my lifetime but I have never received service like I did on that day. Unfortunately they are a little far from my home, but I will definitely consider them when purchasing a car in the future.

I plan to come to the team at Alma for ALL my future repair needs. Additionally, I already sent my elderly aunt and her (American-made) vehicle there for brake repairs. I felt confident recommending the Alma muffler man because of the great job they did on my car, plus they are local to her. When I later inquired about her visit, she was raving about how respectfully they treated her, never talking down to her despite her lack of automobile know-how. That may not be important to some people, but it is to me. For that reason alone I would recommend this particular shop to all of my family/friends, not to mention that Chuck is a genius when it comes to auto repair.
