It was a lot of patch work and hole-filling, all done very well. When the job was completed, they cleaned every area they'd worked in and left everything tidy. They destroyed my Buderus boiler a few years back with improper settings (wrong orifice and pressure set wrong). The boiler sooted up so badly it couldn't be repaired. Water in the basement . . ." you need a new hot water heater:" So they quote one that's an exact match for a $600 Home Depot product, for $1,300 for the heater alone. Well that didn't happen. And in fact the hot water heater wasn't even broken. When I asked the sales person whether his unit was the same as the Home Depot unit at half the price, he literally went missing. Hmmm, so now it's time for propane tanks for a generator. So in April they tell me one thing, a month ago it's something else. On the eve of the generator being dropped, it's two different things two hours apart because the building inspector set them straight. it comes down to two things: (1) their sales staff is incompetent (TONS of turnover, for sort of obvious reasons as I feel that these folks have to bait and switch as part of their job description) and (2) they are fairly shamelessly expensive. A $2,800 tank - at retail - for . . wait for it . . . $5,400. The reason? "We're a big company and we have to make money." That's a direct quote. Not to mention they decided that they will dictate terms to the customer. With no knowledge of any of this, when the electrician heard that Bantam Fuel was doing the tank . . his reaction. "Oh no, we do everything we can to avoid them." And, probably the least of it, 15 minutes on hold to speak to anyone. The CSR who finally answered - the only good interaction of the whole thing - apologized. "We're really short staffed". Yeap. And these guys want to do more around your house? Pest control? Plumbing? Most of this work, if what I have heard around is true, is just subbed out to others with a giant markup. You are now forewarned. Do as the pros do, like my electrician. Avoid this company at all costs.

Colin did an amazing job repairing an antique china cabinet that was improperly dismantled for a…read morecross-country move. The movers removed the feet and bottom wooden piece, without asking, then walked away without putting it back together. Colin came, took the feet and wood, rebuilt the broken feet, removed wood glue from many years past and rebuilt the cabinet. Once the feet were cleaned up and reattached the bottom wood piece, he came back and reattached everything to the china cabinet. It is now more solid than it had been in over fifty years. This piece has been in our family for three generations and I am so thrilled to have it back in its full beauty again. Colin is a thoughtful, meticulous craftsman and I would hire him again in an instant to repair any piece.
