Took my father-in-law for a birthday Hamburger early dinner and remembered hadn't visited Brown Bag in a long time. This place used to be THE place for a delicious, hot, messy burger!! NOT anymore in my opinion. Service was prompt, found one of the last tables that wasn't high top, waitperson came over to take our drink order quickly. Great customer service and she got help right when we received our meal. Ordered a root beer to go with our burgers. This is a Bar joint, loud enough music, seating at the bar or high top tables. A few regular size tables too. The place was packed at 4:30 PM on a Thursday afternoon. Naturally, all three of us ordered burgers, me a hamburger, my FIL a cheeseburger and my husband the Cowboy Burger, bacon, caramelized onions & mushrooms. My husband had to remove most of the onions, claimed they were like hard shoestrings, the bacon apparently cooked in a deep fryer. All three of our burgers required salt/pepper. Seasoning was nonexistent. My burger was cold, the fries semi-cold. This burger was a major disappointment because I was really looking forward to a delicious fresh-made hamburger Most likely will not be returning. read more

Service was good. I was asked one of the ones if I needed help. The cook was excellent. My burger was kicked perfectly. The fries were awesome. They were hot, but not so hot it burned my mouth. My friend loves crispy fries. She doesn't like it when they're all soggy like and these were crispy nicely done. the burger was perfect. Couldn't have been better. I will go back and have a burger there. I've had fish there I didn't write a review that time, but it was nice and crispy tasted great. There's always people there very friendly. I will go back. The cooks name that night was Mark. Highly recommend. read more

Cold beer, good bar food. I especially like the "Philly" and they do French fries RIGHT!

"Come Hungry, Leave Happy (and Full) at Brown Bag Saloon" Y'all, let me tell you--this Cowboy Burger at Brown Bag Saloon? It's not playin'. This bad boy came stacked tall with lettuce, pickles, mushrooms, bacon, and all the fixins like it was fixin' to win a blue ribbon at the fair. One bite in, and I was already planning my next visit. And those hand-cut fries? Long and golden like they know they're good. I'd give the portion size a 5/5--this isn't one of those "cute" burgers, it's a bring-your-stretchy-pants situation. If you're in Victoria and looking for a burger that'll make you do a happy dance in your booth, Brown Bag Saloon is your spot. Friendly folks, good vibes, and food that'll leave you saying, "Now that's what I'm talkin' about." I'll be back, and next time, I'm bringing friends--because a burger this good needs to be shared. read more

Great wings and cowboy burger. Make sure to ask for the sauce on the side. Fries and onion rings are on point too.

This was the worst hamburger and club sandwich ever. Not sure how they think these are so awesome. Recommend the IPA beer.

Our server was very welcoming and friendly, the environment was calm and inviting. Brown Bag will be my 1st choice next time I go out.

Great people and great food!! Definitely stop by and grab you a burger!! You won't be disappointed.

First time and first stop to Victoria, and Brandy and Logan were great! I only wish they had a patio but the atmosphere is superb!

Where do I start!! Well I guess with a cold beer as I look over the menu in a dim lighting setting.. the food is good homemade French fries.. wow delicious cowboy burger is a favorite! But if you want to try something else I suggest the chicken wraps .. covered in bacon! Dipped in ranch is a win win! Enjoy.. read more

Food is an absolute joke... Just nasty. Felt like I was getting food poisoning just looking at it. I did try a couple bits. Both ended up in a napkin, which might be the only nice thing I have to say about this place, thanks for providing something to spit y'all's "food" into. read more

I'm a little torn rating bar food; however, it's an option for several food delivery apps so fair game! The fries: fresh cut, soft (not crispy) pretty good. Philly Cheese Steak: not a lot of flavor, they made it right (looked the part) just didn't check off my boxes. Chicken fingers: they kinda look like fish or butterfly shrimp. Thin but wide, should have just been half as wide and twice as thick. Daughter and wife didn't enjoy them and they eat tenders so I wouldn't get em. Our dog hesitated on a bite. Shame on us for getting anything but their burgers as they seem to be good. With some drinks in you, probably delicious. read more

Been coming to the Bag pretty sporadically for over 20 years. One of the few places that has hardly changed over the years. It is a great laid back place to hang out. Servers have always been friendly with me and the drinks always good. But the thing that normally draws me to pop in here is the cheeseburger and fries. Nothing frozen here. One of the best burgers and fry baskets in town. Not usually the fastest food service, but worth the wait! read more

This is going to be my favorite new watering hole especially when I'm in the Victoria area. Trust me you need to go here especially if you want to have one of the best Burgers and Fries anywhere. The wings and frito pie are great as well. Everyone here is friendly and the staff gives great service. You can't go wrong if you're looking for a tasty bite to eat or a cool drink. read more

Not a bad place to grab food. Stopped by on a Tuesday evening because I was having difficulty finding recommended places to eat in Victoria. Overall I would say the food was pretty good with large portions and reasonably priced. I ordered pizza bread which was more of a sloppy Joe meat with mozzarella over a toasted bun, not very pizza like, but still pretty tasty. I also had a cowboy burger without mushrooms. I tried to order it medium well but it came well done. Despite the blackened exterior it was still a pretty good burger. The beer selection was very limited, but they did have two Texas staple beers which seemed like a better selection than other places I have been to in Victoria. The people in the bar were very friendly. I brought a book to read and only ended up making it through about two pages over the hour and change I was there. Overall, not a bad place to stop and get a bite to eat at a reasonable cost. Selection was a little limited for beer and the menu wasn't big but the food was pretty good. Not a lot of selections though if you were trying to stay healthy. read more

Maybe it was just a fluke but there were a total of 6 patrons inside, 2 ordered food prior to us. Took 45 minutes for a burger that was 4/10, the fries were 10/10. Might try again but not making plans to do so as of now. read more

Great burger! Delicious appetizers! Nice staff and fun people to hang out with! You gotta try the big burger with burger and all the fixings! Homemade French fries too! read more

This is a great place to have a beer (or 2) and some pretty good food. The burgers and nachos are tasty, but the pizza is devine. The husband and I spit a small pizza and we still have to get a doggy bag. I have frequented this bar for over 25 years and I still enjoy my self each and every time. The jukebox is great and if you behave yourself and act like an adult.....the service is A+ read more

Good dive bar. Its been around for longer then a lot of its current patrons have been alive and there is a large "regular" crowd that may make newcomers feel uneasy. If you can get passed this, drink prices are reasonable, beer is cold and the food has always been consistently good. Try the "Cowboy Burger" for lunch. read more

Reading the reviews on Yelp, my friend and I decided to dropped by and order some food & drinks. Mine arrived about 10 min before my his, however; we both lost our appetite when I found a 10 inch hair in my sandwich. Shortly after we decided to leave. We waited for about 10 extra minutes on our waitress to come by only to find out she was outside smoking with the cook and another waitress. She told us the total and we gladly paid (at this point we just wanted to go) then she returned my credit card and said, "l had to run yours twice because I told you the wrong total." She ended up running my card a second time for $2. Then she got upset when she saw she only got a $5 tip and mumbled, "Thank you, don't come back." That's when I replied "We don't plan on it". Don't be fooled by the positive reviews, probably somebody's Grandma or drunk Uncle Rick! read more

We have been 3 other times. The service is always slow but the staff are usually friendly. Just left there after a smart mouth waitress ticked me and my husband off. Not sure if we will be back. Not a lot of restaurants to choice from but I think I'll pass for awhile. read more

So, I don't necessarily have anything negative to say about the food or drinks. In fact I like the food. First off, I am 18 and don't drink. I usually come in with my dad and boyfriend (both over 21) and serve as the DD while getting to watch some sports and people watch. Brown Bag is a cool little hangout for Victoria and I used to frequent there and was never asked to show my ID after ordering a water. However, one day a very fake looking blonde in her late 40's, maybe 50's asked to see my ID (after I ordered a water and was accompanied by my mother, boyfriend, and their 35 yr old friend, all of which were not carded...) after seeing that I was 18, she said in an almost manic tone that no one under 21 was allowed in the establishment after 6pm and that I had to leave right away almost as if I were a criminal. It was extremely insulting and embarrassing. Am I the only one who finds this mind boggling? I'm serving as DD, I'm drinking a water, and I'm not just at a bar, but a bar and restaurant. I was actually going to order a burger and eat dinner there but apparently that's not allowed. How can a business like this not allow DD's? My boyfriend and I left for his house (45 minutes away) and my mom and her friend then had to drink with no DD available and when they were done, exit the parking lot directly onto the busiest street in Victoria. Not very smart! Idk...I just cannot get over this. I'm not going to say anything bad about the owners or the establishment. I'm not even going to say anything bad about the woman who asked me to leave. I understand she was doing her job, but I do think they need to reconsider that very stupid rule. I'm just trying be a responsible daughter and make sure my family doesn't drink and drive and I get treated like a criminal...such a shame. read more
