I have never been met with such negligence & absence of basic humanity before in my entire life.
When I first moved in, my apartment was absolutely filthy. The floors were covered in dirt and leaves, I couldn't even walk without shoes on. The 5 people who helped me move in were disgusted by the state of the apartment as well. There were lightbulbs missing, burn marks & scratches all over the floor. Now that I have moved out, they deducted the missing lightbulbs from my deposit. Although this is a gated community, management left them open the entirety of last summer. Because of the lack of security & the laziness of the leasing office, a 13-year-old child was shot in a drive-by inside of our apartment complex, in the parking lot. If they would've just kept the gates closed, & not left them open so they wouldn't have to come back on their days off & fix the gate, that child might still be alive. Secondly, they love to tow cars here. I bought a brand new car in July 2024. Because I'm rule follower & I know the procedures that Brookside has for parking permits, the very first thing I did when I drove my car home was go to the leasing office & speak to Tyler Young. I registered & signed my new car onto my existing parking permit. Fast-forward to September 2024, I got my Washington license plates in the mail. All the way to December 2024, was when Lee decided to tow my car. I woke up in the morning & called the police because I thought my car was stolen. No warning, no heads up, no conversation. $700 to get my car out, right before Christmas. In a result I also faced discipline at work for being late that day. I'm a single mother who has struggled with housing insecurity. I wasn't able to celebrate Christmas with my daughter because of what they did to me. This was a rash & inhumane punishment that could have been avoided with a 30 second conversation. Having your car towed for silly reasons in this economy can be life-changing. After speaking with my neighbors, I found out this is a normal thing that management did to tenants. Most neighbors I spoke to have had their cars towed, & those who have, have been towed 3+ times. A single mother of 5 who lives here had her car towed 4 times by Lee. At first I felt like I was in the wrong, & Brookside was justified in what they did. But after speaking to my neighbors, I found out that wasn't the case. There is now a homeless encampment inside the trees at Brookside Village. The people who reside in this encampment come over at night & break into resident's cars. The hot tub & fire pit in the communal areas haven't worked for 7+ years according to residents who have lived there for 10+ years. There is always dog poop and garbage everywhere. They never answer the phone or respond to emails. When maintenance comes into your apartment they leave dirt all over your floors from their shoes. During the time I lived here I had a leak in my ceiling, soaking my master bedroom floor. Maintenance cut a hole in my ceiling & left it there for the entirety of my stay. After they cut a hole, the dust from the sheet rock & the water that leaked turned into muddy puddles on my floor. All the maintenance man did was attempt to wipe them up with baby wipes. He instead just smeared it all over my floor. I came home from grocery shopping to find my floors filthy with sheet rock & dust smeared all over. I was appalled that a grown adult & full time employee thought it was appropriate to leave my floors like that. My daughter & I witnessed management being unkind to black children last summer at the communal pool. When tenants have noise complaints about children Brookside advises them to call the police on said children. If you decide to move in, have at least $650 in your savings account in case they decide to tow your car. Don't expect to get your deposit back. This leasing office & team has a lot to learn from Karma, as they have complete disregard for the livelihoods of their tenants. read more
