I want to like this store but their self checkout is crap. Another Texas store does it WAY better. Too bad there aren't any other good options or I'd take my business elsewhere when we are in the area. Nice small town grocer. Friendly assistance for the most part. Good selection. Clean. Has a small gas station. On this visit there was a food truck serving kettle corn (plain and caramel) and it was very good. read more

This is my second review of their produce. My first review must not have been effective. I don't give a 1 star rating to be mean, but to help them understand selling produce that rots quickly and needs to be culled from their shelves is terrible customer service. I bought an onion last week. Onions can sit on the counter for weeks. I've had onions Ive purchased that have sat for months with no issues. This onion is already growing and have a black soft spot. The growth is already 4 inches tall. The only thing I can do with this onion now is plant it and hope I can get a good onion out of it. Please listen to customers about your produce. You need a good produce manager that will cull and knows what they're looking for. Even Walmart culls their produce often. Also, train your younger checkers to smile, be friendly and not rude instead of acting like they don't want to be there. It will help them later in life to get good instruction on how to treat customers. read more

this is a poorly managed store and operates against applicable environmental laws. we went this morning again to buy head lettuce and they were out... have been for a week! The gasoline driven floor polisher ran the whole time we were there, with its noise and poisonous exhaust fumes. I went to the manager's office to complain and he did not acknowledge me or even look up from his work as I tried to talk to him. How are these people allowed to operate groceries in this manner?? I'm struggling to understand the other reviews. My family has shopped at this store for years and have experienced nothing but polite professionalism. The store was remodeled last year and this was a significant upgrade. Great pharmacy and deli. Butcher is great for special orders or cuts. read more

Friendly people with store to car service. The produce is fresh and not wilted and old. Easy to find what I am looking for. Good prices with extra email specials. Clean store and great customer service. The managers and cashiers are personable and the carry outs take your groceries out with an outgoing attitude. Great store and good people until I had to deal with the Assistant Manager Scott. He has no idea how to handle customers, when caught in a lie he walks away and would not tell me who his manager was, saying "I'm the manager" as he walks away. I suggest no customer contact for him and some remedial training on how to be a Assistant Manager and how to be honest with Brookshire customers. Hopefully his manager will address the issue, I did call the corporate office to report this unprofessional conduct. read more

Make sure discounted items are marked well. Bought some yogurt out of a discount bin and when cashier ran through it came out full price. I informed of where I got it and a manager walked over and she began to turn her back to me, as did the manager, and talk quietly. I heard her tell them that things that were a discount were marked on the item and he says "yeah" ...coming across like I was trying to steal something. I told them where I had got it and they said that a customer probably put it there. I told them none where marked. And they sai no we always mark. So I took the manager back to the bin and he looked quietly and then said well...that's not how we normally do things then walked off. Made me feel like I was ripping them off. Got back to cashier and she said "well I wasn't trying to say you were stealing " and I hadn't even said anything. She knew what she was insinuating. It was very embarrassing. read more

My 80 year old mother with a bad hip waited in a very long line behind several customer's. Most of them were not social distancing correctly, due to the very long lines. After this long wait, she finally reached the cashier, just to be told that she could not have the sale price clearly marked on the package of pork, because her purchase was about $3.00 below the $25.00 required purchase to be given the sale price. She saw no signs or reference at all to a $25.00 minimum purchase requirement while shopping and it was not listed in the sales paper. Unfortunately she did not get the meat that she needed, because the non-sale price was ridiculous, and Brookshires could not be bothered to make a gracious exception to the rule. This is a sweet 80 year old lady, who is in constant pain when walking or standing, and must use a walker to shop. Just to go to the store, she had to put herself at risk of Covid 19 during this pandemic. Not only was she refused the sale price, no one even offered to assist her with taking her groceries out to the car, and Brookshires doesn't even have basket returns in the lot. I am quite irritated with Brookshires at the moment, due to this treatment of my Mom. I will be going to the Aldi in Waco to purchase the needed groceries for my Mom, because I don't want to reward this store with my continued business. I especially wanted to make the point that during this pandemic, grocery store workers are considered hero's, however in this instance, the folks at Brookshires in Whitney were cruel, uncaring jerks. read more
