To me, the ribs and the fish were the standout items on the plate. The ribs were huge and very tender. The fish was seasoned well and crispy. The wide variety of sides were all good, with the seasoned fries, hushpuppies and beans being standouts. The banana pudding was great too. I would definitely like to stop back by and try more of the menu. Prices were very reasonable for the amount of food you get. This place is off the beaten path but is definitely a recommended stop if you are in the area.

It gives like old school restaurant, panera meets souplantation (but not a buffet) vibes. You order at the counter, either with a person or the kiosks and there's tons of customization options. I ended up going with a soup and salad combo and got a half lobster/crab bisque along with a half shrimp avocado salad. Prices were decent, less than $15 for my meal (there were upcharges for some items). I enjoyed my meal and found it pretty filling. The soup was nice and warm and had a pretty good seafood flavor. The salad was fresh and was nicely dressed. I was pleasantly surprised by Newk's and glad we stopped in. It's nothing mind blowing but definitely hit the spot on a long, rainy drive. I can see myself returning on a future roadtrip!

This really comes in handy when you don't know exactly how many relations will be showing up in your kitchen. If you're in the mood for a BBQ dinner that's totally non-traditional, order your bulk chopped beef with smoked sausages blended in! Trust me, it will change your BBQ world!
