Be ware that if you didn't buy a device there, they won't work with you on getting parts. I needed parts for a line of equipment they sell, but as soon as they learned I didn't buy it there as new, then they couldn't help me. I had a great experience buying ebikes at Brooks.The owner let me know when the ebikes were being clearanced with an informative phone call. When the bikes arrived, the owner came out and made sure I was satisfied. I tested them for a long time. He fixed a couple of small squeaks one the spot. One bike had a small noise in a derailleur that we couldn't fix. Not a big deal. I live several hours away. The owner surprised me by having new parts sent to my house at no cost. My husband and I took our bikes in to have maintenance done. We assumed his needed the carburetor cleaned and mine just needed an oil change. We were quoted around $500 or so to have that done. Fine. We don't have many motorcycle maintenance options around here and they all seem to be pricey anyway. They don't tell us the turn around time but certainly don't tell us it will take an eternity to even look at them! It took 2.5-3 weeks for them to even look at them and here we are another 1-1.5 weeks after that and they claim they are just getting the parts in for his bike and we should have them back in a few days. They have had them so long we won't even get to ride them before our situation changes and we will likely just end up selling. Go anywhere else! read more

Manhattan doesn't have many motorcycle service/stores, so the selection is limited. With that being said Brooks Yamaha, off of highway 24, is the best one that I have been to thus far (out of prairie hawg and motorcycle supply). The customer service is fantastic every time I go so no complaints there. When nice weather is in season, the service shop in the back of the business can get swamped with motorcycles in for repair since there are only so many shops (like I mentioned earlier) in town. They will do their best to accommodate and get your bike in a quickly as possible. Out of three businesses mentioned earlier, Brooks won't charge an arm and a leg for service and parts (I'm looking at you Motorcycle Supply). I would highly recommend Brooks to friends that ride in the Manhattan KS area. read more

Drove 3 hours to bring my old 2004 Yamaha dirt bike in, wasn't starting at all. I bought the bike here and assumed this was the best place to go for a problem. Long story short 3 months went by with me constantly checking in with them, they consistently told me their best mechanics couldn't find out what the problem was. I ended up picking it up with absolutely nothing done with it and a $600 bill. Ridiculous. I brought it to a local dealer the following day who immediately found the problem and got the bike running for me. Has been running since. All I can say is wow. Horrible management and customer service, employees very rude. If you need something fixed on your Yamaha bike take it to your local mechanic they will be 1000x better, trust me! read more

I took my chainsaw to Brooks Yamaha hoping to have it adjusted after lending it to someone who played around with the carburetor adjustment screws. I was sent to the repair-office in the building in the back. After several minutes of waiting someone finally showed up to help: the guy was initially very friendly, but that changed drastically after I told him what brand of chainsaw I had; I told him it was made by Poulan and branded a Craftsman. In a very grumpy voice he said "we only work on Stihl" after which he immediately turned his head away from me. Another customer came in and he started talking to him without ever giving me another look, even though I politely asked whether he could make an exception and take a look at my chainsaw anyway. I bought my rhino from them years ago and finally took it in to have a complete tune up and some other minor work done (axle boot, tie rod arm replaced, etc.) - it came out running like new and cost exactly what they estimated it would. I was rebuilding the forks on my motorcycle. I removed all components, drained the oil, and then noticed that for the last step -- removing the damper, I needed a special "damper holder" tool -- basically a metal rod with a nut welded at the end. I took my disassembled forks to to Brooks Yamaha's service department, and asked them to remove the damper screw, pop the seals, wipe down the damper, and re-install it -- basically the whole job consists of removing a screw and putting it back -- with the proper tool, it would take anyone at most 10 minutes per fork (I actually did this several times before, as part of my hobby). I was quoted $40 and thought that was fair, as it saved me the time to fabricate the holder. As I was leaving, I asked the blond guy at the front desk whether he understood what I wanted, and he replied with an annoyed "I understand". A few hours later I get a phone call that my forks are ready. When I get there, the damper is not installed. The service technician informs me that he thought I would want to change the bushings. I point out to him that the coating on the bushings looks perfectly fine, and ask him to install the dampers. Now, as I get ready to pay, the blond guy at the front desk informs me that the service is basically equivalent to the entire job of replacing the fork seals, but he is going to do me a favor and only charge me for one fork -- that is $80. After trying in vain to understand what had changed since our first encounter earlier in the day (he kept saying that now, that the job is done, it looks simple to me), I paid the bill (to which they added about $5 worth of shop supplies -- I guess for the paper towels?) and left. It is not the $92 charge (with tax), or the fact that I had to wait 10 minutes for them to complete the job I had originally asked for, that bother me. What I think is really disturbing is how naturally they acted like the initial agreement (from my point of view, a verbal contract), had no value -- although they never denied that it did in fact happen. In truth, I would have chosen to fabricate the tool I needed, had I known that I was going to be charged $92. When I got home and filled one fork with oil, I realized they did not tighten (much less torque) the damper bolt, which caused fork oil to leak -- so I had to fabricate the tool after all. I guess they are not only dishonest, but also incompetent (or perhaps malicious). read more

took my rhino in for some work after about one month and a lot of guessing they said it was the clutch. after I picked it up and got home I found a bolt laying in back of my truck it belonged in the cover around the clutch, all of them were loose. stared to look around and found several things that were not put back together and more bolts completely missing and a hose with a clamp on it that's just hanging there. my plan was to sell mine and buy a new one from them but I think I will look else where if that's how they are going to treat there customers. read more
